I was in Damascus in 1977 in April, having spent the winter in Baghdad Iraq mainly. I was at the Great Ummayad Mosque one afternoon when a group of about 30 men came through with their tour guide who was pointing out all the architectural feature when the Call to Prayer rang out. My guide excused himself and I was left alone to the side in a small niche where I could observe prayers. When he came back I asked him what her could tell me about the different ethnicities I was seeing. That particular group was from Uzbekistan. He told me it was not unusual to get many visitors from the Soviet Union. I have studied and read the geography of Central Asia, but was never fortunate enough to visit. This was a much enjoyed side trip tonight. Thank you.
Haha love seeing my own country's beauty shown by great skillful journalists or maybe tourists. I am from in that region where Baysun is located, the region is called Surkhandarya, the place I really feel by my ❤
quite fascinating ... have always had a plan to visit Central Asia, the land of our Mighty Muslim heros ... Now, I look 4wd to visiting the area by this lovely train ...
(Cont'd) It's well nigh impossible to exterminate sacred beliefs by banning them. They come from the heart as opposed to coming from the brain in the first place. So it's futile to ban beauty!

Most accurately it's Parsian (and Parthian) and Islamic architecture.
