Chain of Memories was a Gameboy Advance game, Re:Chain of Memories is a PS2 port of it. The card mechanic was something that was in the original, but I don't think that it translated as well here unless you know how to play.
@Dream Drop Sora may be right Card Break mechanic: Just add zero cards to your deck. The Card Idea: with specific cards you can basically win anything Limited Attacks: Just add more cards to your deck or item cards No Partners: you just plain suck Battle Thing: You get used to it.
A tip for any person that would play this game *do* *not* *use* *donald* in elemental fights like (axel, hades, vexen, larxen, and any other ones that i dont remember) + good luck
I don't care this will always be my favorite KH game, out of the ones I played: KH1, Re:Com, KH2, and Terra's Story. Am starting Ven today. SORRY TO RANT but Re:Com was just so good. I loved the card combat, and it felt satisfying. It bugged me to go back to just mindless slashing and magic again, along with Drive. At least BBS has a similar combat system. Also, I loved the duel and dark aura systems. They're so unique, and I loved Reverse/Rebirth as a whole!
The card system is very tricky, but once you get the hang of it you feel like gambit from the X-Men. (Tip place zero cards next to cards of high value 5-9 being a personal preference so you can launch powerful sleghts and combos at you're leasure.)
The best thing in this game is the music. About the card battle system, i dont really have any problems with it, but there are some cards that i just cant have no matter what. In combat if you are just strategic you can beat everything . But in fourth Riku's fight it's where the game throws to garbage everything that he has done well. Remember that part where i said that i can't take some cards no matter what, well in fourth Riku's fight, the only way to beat him Is by strong combos that require those single cards that are almost impossible to get. The way to beat him hasn't strategy, because he is gonna beat you in seconds, and don't tell me that i'm just a criying baby, beacuse in other fights like the other Riku's fights or Larxene and Vexen fights, they are difficult but with strategy you'll beat theme. I prefer Kingdom hearts 1, 2, 3, BBS and DDD gameplay. Specially BBS and DDD, because you feel free of your moves, but you have to regulate theme, making it hard, not as this game, but a bit hard and you feel free. The worlds system is the WOOOOORST. Really, the stories are a shit and the mecanic of using cards to go through rooms wich you get them by deafiting enemies it wouldn't be that so much tedious (but it will still be a shit) if they arent that so much fucking specific. The only interesting parts they are on the lobbys of the floors. And the story is just ok. But a good game, one of the worst kingdom hearts because of the world system, but a godd battle system that makes it shine. 6/10
@@exsimon They most likely just don't like the game-, the same goes for me sorta, it's a mixed bag imo,,, some parts being fun like fighting the heartless armor, with others being not fun at all like fighting vexen which is just an experience all of it's own-.
I thought this was a fun game, but some of the bosses were just way too damn frustrating (mainly the first form of Marluxia) and sometimes it was boring to keep fighting enemies to try to get that one map card needed to open a door.
One of my favourite boss themes is Struggle Away, so I love this. I didn't mind the card system, but I can easily admit that it was the worst battle system out of all KH games, including 358/2 Days and RE:Coded.
Sora Really it was my own fault for making the gameplay a steep learning curve; I knew about the card system, but not enough to think that placing it on a higher difficulty would be a bad idea. As for the story, it was ok for what was essentially a small side story that preluded Org XII and its motives. The enemy characters were stereotypes tbh, but that was ok for the lack of scenes each had.
why in the world did Square Enix even approve of this card based RPG style of fighting for Kingdom Hearts why did they just leave it the way it was for the original game I hope Kingdom Hearts 3 has a similar format as Kingdom Hearts 2 and Kingdom Hearts 1 nothing to change something that not broken
All the people here complaining about this game because it isn’t a “mash the same button and use aero” strat... the combat in this game is fun and requires actual skill.
Strike Phoenix You actually have to think and make strategies, and learn about the opponent, and this is different compared to stuff like kh2 proud mode or a mode that is not as hard where you can mash x, and for critical mode, you have to think because you can easily die, but for the game early on, you can still mash x
once again, this game and its battle system is a testament to what a psycho nomura is. cause why tf. this storyline would have been so fab as just a normal rpg but creating room that were like actual surrealist labyrinths to keep the length.
i've been trying to use strategy to beat the bosses and got my ass beat all this time, little did i know, i just had to spam triangle to use sleights. thank you.

i think some points of the game are repetitive i think too much encounters from riku bad executed look pokemon you can fight with gary/trace but the execution makes its not repetitive because BATTLE SCENARIO ITS FUCKING DIFFERENT and i dont mind learn how spell in english sorry about that
ya'll talking about how this is the worst game in the series just because of cards? but in Re:Coded has the WORST story in the series. and it has similar game play to BBS. In this game it can be so easy to play if you actually take time to use strategies and not just spam the cards. cause you guys are probably just spamming X in the game and wasting cards and then whining saying "omg this game sucks ass." because you just spam x like how you would do in KH1 and 2. me personally I think this game is fun and easy to play.
Actually, after I got used to the combat system, I think the combat system is a masterpiece. Yes, it's a challenge, but that's what makes it fun. You learn how to compose a deck for real-time battles, which takes a unique strategy from a normal turn-based cardgame. You're very well rewarded for adapting to the situation and making "good moves" while thinking on your feet. If you get a free couple of seconds and aren't totally out of cards yet, start partially reloading your deck, but be prepared to stop to interrupt the enemy. I don't think any other game has given me the same adrenaline off of boss battles as this one. Bad part of the game is the general grind vs. basic enemies, but at least it gives you ample time to build your deck and get used to it. I wish I could play another game with a similar system.
Honestly I’m probably just gonna give up on this game and watch the rest of the cutscenes on RUclips I can’t get past the 2nd larxene fight no matter what I do to my deck the whole card thing in general I hate it’s so stupid

Do you stack your cards often? If yes, don't do it frequently. Because after you stack the cards, you'll lose one of your cards and can't use it throughout your battle. It can only brought back after you finish your battle
