Those triggers will dig hard when hooked, first time checking out your channel, I'm hitting subscribe just on the basis of good old boy fishing. Respects
@@CaptCollier yes sir! Have you seen any good Mangrove or Vermillion lately? Only being allowed 1 trigger and no red snapper in April makes pickings slim.
Great video and slabs for real. Are you guys fishing the near shore public reefs? Any guidance on what to look for to locate triggerfish? Almost all of the pyramids we hit seem to be taken over by snapper.
Thanks! Man you really have to keep bumping spot to spot until you find one that holds more trigger than snapper. The tanks tend to hold more triggerfish but I find that they are usually on the small side.
I couldn't believe the gob of squid you were fishing with. It is funny we try to go stealthy on the triggers, light sinkers or just a jig head and small piece of squid. Caught nine and ten pounders with that method but no big ones the last two years for some reason. Now it is a struggle to catch a 17 incher. Like others have mentioned they make really fine ceviche.
Awesome. The reason I like to use bigger pieces of bait, sometimes, is because the spots I fish there are a lot of undersize triggers that will instantly hit that small piece of squid and be on the hook, but when I use bigger pieces it usually takes longer for the small ones to eat it so it gives it enough time to sit down there for a bigger one to come scoop it up. Shoot I’ve caught my biggest trigger on a live 5” croaker
Great fish! Nothing but a stud. Oh by the way my daughter thinks you look like Morgan Wallen. Maybe you can try singing WASTE ON YOU the next time the bite is slow. Lol!
I’ve heard of people catching trigger fish here in Nova Scotia. I hope to be one of these people soon. With rising ocean temperatures it seems like we’re getting more species travelling north towards us. How do you like to eat them? What’s the meat like?
How do you like fishing in that sea hunt bay ? Got one on order its been about 3 months ago . Man like your channel watch them over and over thanks for doing it
Man that’s crazy, I wish we could keep more. 30 sounds like a lot though. And yes it does, but triggerfish around here don’t get frozen, it gets eaten fresh 😅
@@CaptCollier that's what I'm talking about we catch him here in the Atlantic and I definitely get them in the Bahamas when I'm there it's one of the first things that gets cooked up
@@CaptCollier I'm up here in Jersey, we've been getting trigs in recent years, nothing that big. Still learning the game, it is just me or when you mark a school of them on the wreck it looks like real distinct squiggly lines on the sonar? Also, do you like use circle hooks better for them than J hooks? I've been using super small J hooks due to their tiny mouths, I'm talking like a 6 or an 8! Sweet video, new subscriber now!
I like you but I just went through all most all of your videos and you might have about 10 catch and cook out of 30 videos i like to see when y'all ( u- tubers) do clean and cook's i don't know why but almost every fisherman catch fish but very few do cooks,a few do it 90% i like watching them
Last video with the mullet RIP

Thanks I appreciate ya watching! And it’s a good all around boat man. I’ve been in some sloppy stuff offshore and she handled it fine.
Great video Captain!
What rod was that for Triggers?
Thanks Rob! Check the video description, I try and put the gear I use in most of my videos down there
Where can I go to be able to get on your boat for some trigger fish?
Crazy only one per person!
Can keep ten Grays in NC, was 30 in 2020.
I make mamma bad ass trigger ceviche!
Freezes nice also.

What is the shaft length on your trolling motor? Does it ever start to cavitate in the swells?
I believe its a 60". And no it doesn't , unless I'm in some really nasty chop
What rod and reel setup was that looking for a good deep drop setup
I put the gear I was using in the video description. I try and put it in the description because I forget to say it in the video most times.
I havent finished the video yet, so you may say, but when y'all moved a little shallower, how deep were ya'll? 60-65?
and there you go, 60" good video man, always enjoy it!
Thanks man! If I ever forget to mention something like that, feel free to ask

What lb line do you make the chicken rigs out of for Triggers?
I usually use 40lb. They are not leader shy though, you could honestly go heavier
I swear I thought this was Ron Jeremy out there fishing.
Dangggg you gonna do me like that huh
@@CaptCollier Something going on with YT? I keep losing you as a subscriber.
Save them bigger trigger throats. It’s fantastic
Oh you already know I cut them things out

.....Damn
What’s your biggest trigger?
I got to say it again those triggers will put their head and down swim to the side try to go down and wedge into the rocks that fish will fight
