    My brother in law used to race here in Canada at Luskville and Sanair back in the late 1970's, early 1980's. He raced a 1970 Pontiac Lemans that started out as his first car. He ran a 400 small block, and lightened that car in any way he could, to get better e.t's. I can still remember when he finally got into the high 10 second range. He was on cloud nine for weeks. Now a 10 second car is what you use to tow your race car to the track, pretty much. Amazing what drag racers are getting, dependably, out of small CID engines these days.

    This is the best racing I've seen on here..lots of small blocks..it's crazy to see a 265 pull the wheels on a 55 wagon. !! The thunderbolt was fast than the hemi but went red

      I'm 54 and have street race since I was 15. I don't drag race at the track. Its all about the money and racing out in the middle of nowhere, on a paved back road. No cops, just good ole' racing. I got a 2010 Chevy Silverado with engine and exhaust mods. Little tweek of the computer and it went from 315hp to 425hp including the engine and exhaust mods. When the light hits, it lauches so hard, it locks my seatbelt. Talk about an aderaline rush.

      @@scottfox7642 you made me wash the dust off my car and drive it again. My car is also a street car and it's fun. 99 camaro LS1 super charged with water/meth injection Texas Speed Cam. it makes 615 RWHP and it's a handful to drive. But the look on young guys faces when I go around them haha

      @@lovonrun Thats awesome. These young guys got nothing on us old heads. Their wannabe muscle cars don't even compare to our old school muscle cars or trucks.

      @@lovonrun These new "muscle cars", if ya want to call them that, are throw away cars. They don't even compare to old school muscle cars. The old muscle cars are stronger and faster. I have beat new Camaros and Mustangs. When I street race, I put my truck in 4wd, so I have to front end torque pulling me. I also turn on the trailing button to get the higher rpm's so its faster on the take off.

    When the Mustang went to composite headlights and away from the 4 eye traditional headlights, the front ends just look horrific.

    How much cars are usually at the US Nationals? Couple thousand? It's my dream to go to this event. I live here in Canada by Toronto Motorsports Park (Cayuga Dragway). There is an NHRA Stock Super/Stock event June 17-19 and our biggest event is the Canadian Nitro Nationals July 1-3. Nothing in comparison to this event though. Anyway, great video!

      Thanks. There is between 700-1000 cars depending on the year. I've gone there each of the past 2 years.

    I love to watch good racing but every time they do an offset tree they may as well give out a participation trophy. The whole point of classes is to have similarly built/powered/weight cars running against each other. If you can't keep up, you either need to build a faster car, or drop a class.

      Sorry Brian isn't announcing the winner. However, at the very top of the scoreboard is a line of lights that starts flashing for the winners in this heads up format. Thanks for watching and be safe.

    why do the light go off unevenly?

    • @peteloomis8456
      @peteloomis8456 2 года назад

      One car is quicker so it's a dial in race and who ever comes closer to their dial in wins the race . If you run too quick you loose and break out . If you run right on and the other guy is too fast or slow he loses so it's all in who cuts the best light and who's car is the most consistent and keeps his time that's wrote on the windshield or his dial in . Some guys sand bag the car part ways down then give it all it has and other guys kill it off the line then back pedal the car slowing it at the end so each has their own ways of trying to stay as close to their dial in as possible .

    Great cars, however, bracket racing sucks. The car that gets there first should win. I can remember when NHRA used to be fun. Stock, super stock, modified all ran off an index & whoever got there first won. Also, it's so expensive to go to NHRA anymore & they're so political, we don't go anymore. Thank goodness for organizations like PSCA, ADRA, etc.
