can you google "man tga 41.480"? 4 axle truck, 2 steering axle at the front and 2 drive axle at the back and can carry 23-24 tons but so so so so simple truck. and what do we have here, 7 axles that we have to take care of 4 of them of whether they are up or down, lift if we go in reverse, in rainy conditions such poor handling, maneuverability worse...and what do you actually get? just a few more tons of payload? as a european, i ask you americans, is it worth carrying only a few tons more and being surely 50% more complicated?
jay hi. thanks for the video but one thing remains unexplained. how do all those pusher axles function when truck is fully loaded doing turn or cornering whatever? i can't find a video on the whole yt, either the pusher axles are up or if they are down they just go straight but not turn or cornering. i understand very well that the extra axles are there to increase payload and meet the rules, but i'm just not clear how they can work in practice - turn or cornering with all axles down?
That will be nice. Currently, I'm driving an 11 cubic yards Kenworth mixer with 3 pusher axles and 1 tag axle and is doing good even in downtown Phoenix,Az
Where I live in the Pacific Northwest Oregon and Washington. We call a dump truck with one drop axle a 4 axle we count the steering tires . Two drop axles a fix axle , three drop axles a six axle
I've been driving a Super for 18 years, and I STILL don't know the correct down pressure for each lift axle, aka pushers. Is there written data available?
35-40lbs , they aren't for load support , they are for breaking. Going to high on psi will lift the truck up. U need enough for breaking without skidding
Thank you. I prefer not to use the lift axles on dirt or haul roads. A few of my colleagues insist you need the lift axles for frame support, regardless of the condition of the road. And of course, there are the bridge laws.
This guy talks like a late night TV salesman impersonating a children's entertainer... getting through any of his talking points in this video you have listen to him say EVERYTHING 8 times before he moves on to the next point... Waiting him out while he counted the axles out over and over and over was painful... He needs a Blippy costume. 4:59 He should have laughed like the Count from Sesame Street when he counted up the axles, 1.... 2..... 3..... 4..... 5...... 6! 6 wonderful axles! AH AHAHAH!
Well Honestly, for a Total Beginner this video is helpful. I mean it’s Elementary for sure, but Not everyone grew-up around Trucks, Equipment, or even a Father Figure to explain these Rudimentary Things. Pretty humble for this guy to break down the Simplistic Anatomy of a Dump Truck like this. Job Well Done in my opinion.
In Pennsylvania a tri axle is one drop axle, 73280, aluminum body about 23 ton and a steel body 22.25 ton. Lightweight tells me my legal weight. Some states require different weights, a lot of times 3lift axles waste of weight and space. This guy does sound like a salesman 😂
IDK WHY hes talking tons. Traixles can carry 25-27tn depending on the trucks light weight as long as its under 40tn total. Except PA Their gross is 73,200lbs gross for a traixle. Bro got all these extra axles for nothing 😂
All this looks homemade, afterthoughts, and something a chop shop would make from scraps. Down pressure, wheelie bar and shit like that is once again just dump driver circl3 jerk. They want people to think its complicated, calling shit super and such, when in reality its adding numbers and driving. The way drivers and this guy talks just wants to make it seem complicated so you would be fascinated😂 some drivers say dropping axles is a calculated art, bro its a push of a button😂
25 tons of material is the avg amount of a triaxle and the gross is 40. IDK why he's carrying extra weight of them axles when triaxles run 25-27tn depending on the lightweight.

Great video J!
Can someone explain why you need these multi axels?
Fire video. How do you calculate the bridge weight to carry. Is there an actual formula?
The weight limits are listed on your states department of transportation website. Thanks for watching!
In Virginia we have quad drop axles those trucks look bad ass
Thanks so much for your support
Excellent video sir
Thanks and welcome!

Works good. All dropped axle turns. You have a problem if you try to back up with those 3 pushers down.
The drop axles are steerable axles, meaning when the steer axle turns, the force of the truck turning causes the drop axles to follow suit.
thanks guys but the strange thing is how many videos on yt but none where they do the turn with all those axles down

I came here to say this.

This guy is such a good teacher I would show up ready to work for free just to be trained

In Connecticut with tri axle permitted you can haul 24tons
What if your truck gvwr is 64,300 can you still haul 24 in ct?
👍
Nice..👍👍👍

different laws in different places that why he said houston area
Beautiful Truck with a full load must get 2 Miles to a gallon of diesel fuel

Way to long winded
Did he say 25 tons? 🙄
Yup 😂 Rookie numbers

There called drive axles not tandem axle
Drives in a tandem configuration
