I was actually sleeping so little that I was at the point where I would wake up feeling "normal" after 3-4 hours of sleep (not good). I was seriously mimicking ADHD symptoms, hell, even dementia. I actually never was Like "i want to stay awake longer!", Not as a child, and not now, i mostly just went to sleep even if my mother didnt tell me to, since i didnt see any good things in staying up longer other than having no rest and being tired, and now i have insomnia, wow.
I’ve slept 3 hours for about 3 years due to depression and anxiety. I lost a lot of weight and became a toxic person. I finally went to the doctor and with some medication, I can sleep 12 hours a night now and I’m seriously catching up on the zzz’s now. It’s amazing.
Happy to hear that you are getting better sleep now than before. I suffered from depression for decades. I was suicidal. I was going through chronic sleep deprivation during the time. Then my lungs went through a cleansing process (over five years). My sleep dramatically improved. And depression totally disappeared. With clean lungs, I breathe in so much that I feel like being outdoors a lot. In my opinion, good clean lungs are critical in getting good sleep, and driving away depression.
I struggle with insomnia. My dad also had it really bad. I do know that lack of sleep slowly destroys your brain…in other words, it can lead to dementia, Alzheimer’s, etc.
please pray for my mother, she lacks of sleep and gets practically gets 0 hours of sleep overnight, it makes me so sad seeing her like this, watching her age by the minute, she always ask, "what would you do if I died" 😞 she just can't sleep and I feel for her so much, I love her dearly and would never want anything to happen to her
I remember being in navy basic training and somewhere around the 36 hour mark of no sleep I would start going into a “deep sleep” and have a dream that would all last a second or less, then snap myself awake, only to “fall asleep” again for a split second. This was at any point in the day no matter what I was doing and I couldn’t control it.
When I first started night shift , and wasnts sleeping to good , and on a bad night with lots of problems , I could fall asleep standing up but after a split second your knees collapse and wake you back up .
@@Cobra427Veight Yeah. I don’t know if this is the same for others but I found the nights to be easier to stay awake when very low on sleep. As soon as morning hit, it was hell. The very first night of arriving at RTC I got assigned night watch. Terrible luck right there. I also slept through the ladies shaving my hair off lol
As someone who stays awake from anywhere between 24 and 48 hours, I can speak to the memory issues. But I don't feel "intoxicated" until after 24 hours.
It is nice that this video has captioning in it. The Deaf and Hard of hearing do not have equal access to information sometimes, simply because people are too lazy to add this. The auto-generated captioning is terrible.
Danny exactly. I’m not deaf but I know a bit of ASL. On twitter you can actually turn on this setting that whenever you post a photo you can add a description :,) and it only shows for those who have this setting on
I remember when I lasted 48 hours without sleep because of depression and chronic anxiety , I was about to take my own life back then and couldn't manage to sleep well for such a extended period of time. I literally felt numb , dizzy , depressed , angry , suicidal and had murderous thoughts as well, I began hallucinating after 36 or so hours without sleep , pretty terrifying all these experiences, all of that combined with social isolation and social anxiety literally made me low-functioning and even getting up from a chair felt hard. No one was there to help me at the time, I didn't know how bad was that and it definitely took a toll on both my mental and physical health, fortunately now I'm much better and almost back to normal and I don't pull all nighters anymore.
Very, very helpful, concise and true! Confirmed my fears. I've struggled with lack of sleep for decades due to PTSD and major depression. Now, at age 69, I only get 2-4 hrs if I'm lucky. I don't expect to live very long. In fact, I feel like I'm 85 instead of 69!!
fallenSlave nope.... just praise this guys hard work and dedication. Smh creationists with their dumbass statements trying to take away success from people who worked hard for it.
I have extremely severe central sleep apnea that went undiagnosed for over two years. I complained about being extremely tired all the time to my doctor several times but they blamed it on my medicine. When I say extreme, that’s really an understatement. I dosed off constantly, even on hard plastic chairs. Nothing I did helped. Finally my doctor agreed to do a sleep study. I was told I shouldn’t be alive, that’s how bad it was. I stopped breathing 150x per hour. That’s 5x more than what they consider severe. To make matters worse my file was misplaced when it was supposed to be expedited and it was another six months before they finally got back to me. I sure hope that it doesn’t effect me later in life. Watching this video scared me a bit. I’m getting better sleep today and my central sleep apnea is under control. Brain signals are struggling in other areas yet but not so much with sleep. I have a lot of family history of heart problems too. Both my parents died from heart failure and had heart problems, my maternal grandpa died of a heart attack and my fraternal grandma had heart problems. I feel like I’m doomed after watching this and knowing what I’ve learned from doctors. I’m not even 40 yet.😢

@es vee Its the fact we have so many different teachers all giving us what they thing is a reasonable amount of work which it is but when all your teachers do it becomes way out of reasonableness
I am pretty comfortable sleeping just a few hours a night, and have done so for most of the last ten years. For reasons I won’t get into, I go a few days without sleeping at all on a somewhat regular basis. My record is right around 100 hours, and the warning signs we’re told to look out for are very real. Inability to focus or make new short term memories are two of the biggest issues I’ve encountered. I’ll forget what I was doing ten mins ago, or how my day began. Physically, I usually do ok, but I definitely get hallucinations a couple days in. Nothing major. Just movement from stationary objects, or patterns that swirl like a bad acid trip. For me, the biggest concern I have is with regulating my emotions. After 50 or so hours with no sleep, I’m irritable, a little nervous, and get really sad about things that I’d normally handle pretty well. It’s funny, because I can recognize that I’m not thinking straight or making good decisions, but I can’t actually do anything about it.
I’ve been awake until 6 am for 4 years now, my anxiety is out of control recently and I suddenly have heart problems... Sleeping is important for your body man :/
lmao ive been looking for someone to mention something sarcastic about how ironic it is that hes talking about not having enough sleep and he looks like he hasnt slept in days.
He mentioned a 24% increase in heart attacks when we lose an hour to DST but I'm curious to know what the numbers do when we gain an hour of sleep. I wish he'd mentioned that.
@NUYAKA the next day after summer time change it's back to normal. It's that one night with one less hour that increases case numbers of heart attacks by 24%. Whether it's winter or summer time doesn't matter, changing inbetween is what kills people.
I found this to be one of the best videos I've seen in a minute and I really hope you can understand why I enjoyed it so much. Thank you and I hope you have a great night. ❣️🤩
As a 20 years night worker I agree with what he says. I started working nights cos of sleep issue. One thing I realised now, sleeping nights is different to days. Your body feels much relaxed with night sleep. God created this world day and night for a reason.

@@gabrielfreits297 not true, sunlight is important for the body. Also our body has a biological clock, our circadian rhythms are supposed to be aligned with night and day time as the body produces certain chemicals at night and day times and this will get messed up if you're not asleep and awake at the right times.
Hello, I‘m a person with severe sleeping disorder. I started to skip sleep when I was in 5th grade or about 11 years old. My parents did everything they could to get me sleeping, and once they thought I was sleeping, I would do literally anything to keep myself awake. I know now that it’s a kind of drug for me, my brain or myself as you will, enjoys being ‘drunk’ by the lack of sleep. It’s an addiction and a way for me to flee from depressiv thoughts. And maybe, one day I will manage to get it all together. But today I nearly collapsed. In a normal week I sleep about 1,5 to 2 hours per night, or even less. I’m gonna be 20 years old this summer. Wish me luck changing it forever.
Quick Answers to the questions asked: Luckily I do not lose hair, but I heard of people with similar sleeping disorders that do lose hair. Managing my life is really hard because I tend to forget a lot of things and therefore I have to keep a tightly filled agenda. Other than that it’s basically normal despite the fact that I’m “awake” - more like half consciously - most of the time. Indeed I have made some progress since 3 months ago: I learned more about the importance of sleep and on how to acquire healthy sleeping habits. But it’s still a long way to go, comparable to quit smoking.
3 days here and im fine... have been awake for 7 at one point in my life and ill pass on experiencing that again because (to me anyway) i act dumb... and to others i seem a bit hostile seems to vary per person from what ive observed.
It’s still hard, but I’ve been trying to stay in the school library after school, I think the quiet and school environment helps me do the work. Also gotta lock my phone away in my locker 😅@@dannychenski687
I went 13 days without sleep one time, and I would not recommend it to anyone. Didn't know at the time that there was black mold in the wall next to my bed, and being exposed to it was making it next to impossible to breathe (a situation that somehow went on for almost five years, by the way, and nobody I went to see could figure out what was wrong with me.) I regularly went 5-7 days without sleeping at all, and usually when I did sleep, it was for less than three hours. That went on for years. Choking on your own lungs all night every night for years does something to ya, as does missing out on many hundreds of hours of sleep, and I've never been the same, even after moving somewhere else. It's like my body and brain are afraid of falling asleep perpetually, no matter how tired I get. It's so bad that, one time in the ER, they tried to put me under general anesthesia, and it couldn't knock me out. To this day, I'm lucky to sleep for a couple hours twice a week. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. The moral of the story is, cherish your sleep, no matter how little you get, and strive to get enough to stay healthy, motivated, and mentally sharp.
I can’t I can’t sleep I’ve been up for 42 hours And I’m tired But my body can’t sleep It’s refusing Edit: I finally got sleep and now I’m worrying about everyone in the comments

This fantastic evidence-based scientist is underrated and unappreciated. I love this man and his research, and his findings can potentially benefit us now and prevent future adverse health conditions. I'm surprized how slow (given the evidence) hospital polices and nursing education doesn't as yet reflect or encapsulate these findings. They certainly have an effect on patient health.
What if I can't get that much sleep? I have to study in the morning AND in the night, and I've always been a night person anyways, since I was a child, and as far as i remember, I've never experienced anything of this.
I’ve been staying up pretty much all night for the last like three weeks. I’m trying to reset my sleep schedule by staying up all day but failed that each time.
If your trying to fix your sleep schedule just don't go to sleep at all, pull a all nighter and don't go to sleep the following day stay up as long as you can and when U finally go to sleep, your sleep schedule should be fixed it works for me I try that method and I always wake up early every morning
Thankyou, I just played this to my father who has 4 hours sleep a night. He's an elder & I can see the impact that his lack of sleep is now having on his memory & overall well being, especially as he ages. He was very attentive & listened to every word of this - I guess it didn't sound like my usual to nagging to him☺
Is it that dangerous guys??? You all are scaring me so bad I too couldn't sleep for near 24 hrs,so what should I do I am 18 year old only I can't sleep in daytime I only sleep at afternoon and night when I have a good sleep
The last time i went on vacation I didn't bring my laptop or smart phone. My poor sleep seemed the same until the 8th day of the trip. Then it got better and better as the second week went on. I felt rested for the first time in years. I returned home the 15th day and binged on my laptop for six hours. The following morning i felt as if i had drunk 12 cocktails. Too much phone and computer usage must be hurting our sleep. I'm cutting back starting today. I've been averaging 8 hours a day on phone. I'm thinking 3 should be the max.
Wow, this leads me to ask how will this recycle rate affects our doctors, military personnel who undergo rigorous training wherein they need to be aware almost 24hrs or more to as part of their training? Is the adverse effect of lack of sleep reversible?

Hi
Hello, I watch your videos!

I recently started a new night shift job and have been suffering from a lot of memory loss recently, and my depression has also severely worsened.
How much time did it take?

You will be vitamin-d deficient which is equally important for brain function.

Are you healthy bro and are you losing hair ?
Omg I am 15 and I can’t sleep like 4 nights in week (the whole night) how do you manage your life
Quick Answers to the questions asked: Luckily I do not lose hair, but I heard of people with similar sleeping disorders that do lose hair.
Just the wake-up call I needed.
When you dont sleep for 3 days there will be phantoms.

Watching this while I’m deprived of sleep...
The moral of the story is, cherish your sleep, no matter how little you get, and strive to get enough to stay healthy, motivated, and mentally sharp.
just put me in the coffin already smh

I felt rested for the first time in years. I returned home the 15th day and binged on my laptop for six hours. The following morning i felt as if i had drunk 12 cocktails. Too much phone and computer usage must be hurting our sleep. I'm cutting back starting today. I've been averaging 8 hours a day on phone. I'm thinking 3 should be the max.
