- Hey guys today we are gonna check out my friends Ford Focus ZX4, which I believe is one of the most fun vehicles I have driven. As usual, we will be doing: interior overview, exterior overview, under the hood, and finally taking it for a drive.

I got my focus with 200k miles for 900$ drove it for a year and still runs strong added 30k kilometres of hard revbombing everyday it just won’t quit
lol I love getting cheapo cars and riding the hell out of them, I'm not surprised that this yours is still holding up, these engines are pretty bulletproof and great fun.

Love the mods you have done to it. I have a 2007 Ford Focus SE which I bought for $1,000 with 190k miles. It looks pretty similar to your model, but without the mods. I’m planning on modding mine soon just because I’m going to be driving it for a while until the engine stops running.
Buying the same car soon hopefully u modded it already id love to know if it’s as good as this one
Dude that engine with proper maintenance wont die. Ford was trying to compete with the 90s jdm tuner cars and they knew part of the attraction was that the car would never ever stop going in toyotas and hondas, so they did the same with the manual focuses

Thanks for the review. Bought an '06 wagon, a lease return, back in 2010, and it outlasted my marriage. So I bought a second one. An '05 sedan, this time. And guess what? I'm looking for a third one. An 07, hopefully.

I just bought a 2005 Zx4 for $450 with 195k, it's blue, and it absolutely rips.

Keep it maintained and it will last you for as long as you have it.

I can fit 4 adults in my 2 door 2000 ZX3 with room to spare. Idk why they did that in the 4 door 2005. Nice daily bro. Also mine has almost 250k on it and still going strong. Well strong for a 2.0 focus lol

ONLY 104k miles? Try a 2008 at 267k miles. However, my parents live in a somewhat rural area. We have to drive 10 miles from our house just to get gas, and all our grocery stores and other places are 15 to 20 miles away. The car is really reliable, hoping to get it next year when they plan to replace it with a Ford Flex

Bought a 5spd zx4 for $1800 the other day, aftermarket stereo, wheels, sound system, LED conversion. 223k miles but worth it. Car was definitely taken care of, steering is tight and clutch is awesome.
The best part, my exhaust sounds the same except there's no tip and it was sawzall'd to hell 😂😂

My dad got the 2006 Hatchback manual brand new, and he got rid of it about 2 years ago at 460K miles. He said during the whole time not a single thing broke that cost more than $100 till the end. The fuel pump ended up dying in the end. It wasn't much money, but by 460,000 miles, he didn't really care anymore. Haha. Did I mention it had the original clutch?
The non ST zx4 doesn’t make 151hp. They make like 120

My dad has this car, except its a 5 speed manual. A joy to drive, shifts kinda hard into 1st gear, but it's a lot of fun otherwise. I'm going to buy it from him in a couple months, and mod the exterior, give the entire interior a recolor and overhaul, new infotainment system with carplay, custom shifter, etc., as well as air intake, modded exhaust, and possibly a turbo. I'm also gonna get a medium red paint job, blacked out head and tail lights, spoiler, and hood vents/scoop. I'm 17, and am looking forward to this being my first car.

FSWERKS makes a turbo kit for the Zetec engines that can make up to 250 horses on the stock block. When my SPI finally takes a dump, I will be doing a Zetec turbo swap. I will admit I hope this SPI chugs along just a little bit longer although I can hear that dreaded valve seat getting ready to drop 🥲
I just bought a 2005 for$1800 &94Kmiles on it. 45K of those miles were towed miles. They didn't know to disconnect the battery while towing.

I owned a burnt orange 05 zx5 paid $3200 for back in 2010 had it up until 2016 with over 300k still ran strong all I did was change oil and plugs regularly my ex wife totaled it and had been looking for another one ever since bought one for $900 I thought it had 218k miles but then realized it’s imported from Mexico and is in kmh so it actually only has around 135k miles plan to fix everything and keep it forever going to run it till it blows and then do a 2.5 fusion swap and turbo it
I have a 2006 ZX-4 SE 5 speed manual transmission I bought brand new, best damn car I have ever owned. My Son took it away from me last year when he got his driver's license, he loves it, he always have. He was still in diapers when I got it. Just bought another Focus, a 2007 ZX4 SES automatic transmission. It was just for parts. Didn't run, bad transmission been sitting for 2 years. Guy wanted $700 but I got him down to $500. I discovered it had 89,059 miles on it. A animal chewed up the plug for the Mass Air Flow sensor. I put another plug & sensor on it. It now is my new daily driver and without a doubt ! My new best car I ever owned !!!

You want to find the 05-07 ST which has a legit 151 HP 2.3l, much more torque, lower gearing, 5 speed, will accelerate much quicker also has 4 wheel disc and the SVT struts.
I have the 2007 ST great commuter, great budget car that is very happy all day at 100 mph with handling esp with the earlier SVT 17" rims

Sorry for the late reply, yeah we got this one at Walmart for about $20-25ish and it even has bluetooth.. Didn't know how good it was gonna be considering that it's Dual brand, but I was blown away how good it sounds. I have a similarly priced Boss unit in my Altima and the dual just owns it. Both cars have similar speaker setups.
I have had mine since new, SES model 2007, The only mod I thought about and did do was a Sony double din touch display radio. I like the heads up display but the grill does not look good at all. Not a fan of all the blacked out stuff, Ford did do it correctly.
Got a 05 zx4 for 500$ with 170k on it, runs great and hasn't left me stranded in over a year

The base zx4 is either 130hp or 136hp to the crank. Just depends on if you have a pzev or non-pzev model. Now if you have the zx4 st with the 2.3 then its 155hp at the crank. The automatics are junk in this car. I had 3 overheat on me three years in a row all back to back to back every summer. Swapped it out for a manual trans and it's been reliable since. Except for when the pcv system failed and had lack of oil to the bearings and motor spun the rod bearings.

The automatic transmission in this model year is good, it's 2008 and later that were bad double clutch automatics.
Bruh where do u find these cars? I bought a 02 focus se for 3500 with only 45kmiles. But its having all kinds of overheating and start up problems. Could that be because the previous owner didn't take care of it?

Hell yeah man, I got an 07 focus. Painted blue vent trim as well. Blacked out the bottom half of the dash. And got ceramic tint all around. Ive driven the car on a 26 hour road trip (thats one way) and back with no issues! 25k miles put on it in one year. Love this car.

Just bought one for $3800 that has 50k miles on it. Looking forward to using it. There's a couple concerns I've found with it but nothing too major I believe. If anyone has suggestions/tips on this car I'd appreciate it.
Yeah replace the air cleaner with a SKP SK258519 going for around 84.00 on Ebay, the lifetime cleaner is really not very good and this air filter box has a replaceable filter.
If your breaks start to drag and nothing else works to fix it, replace the vacuum booster. Spend a lot of time trying to fix that one.
Just got a 2005 zx5 for 850 with about 130k on it. Fun little thing.
Found a 2005 ZX4 w/ 128k miles for only $1800...has some cosmetic issues, but overall good car so far

Got an 06 w/400k miles, original engine and transmission.
WOW! I've had my 06 3d hatch since 08. I'm the 2nd owner and bought her with almost 17k miles. She now has 110k and is only a work car now.
5 speed manual with original clutch and tranny that is just fine. Car has never left me stranded in 12 years however this last week she started misfiring. Engine mount was broken. Now fixed along with a new flex pipe. Alternator was replaced in 2016.
I wonder how long she'll last as my brother told me the engine is super reliable and you guys are saying they can easily go 300k miles.

love the car i have a zx4 myself but the only thing i would say is your 0-60 seemed off... when i put my zx4 too the floor im at 60 in nearly 7 seconds and in the video it took over 12 seconds ? no shame it was a rolling start i was just curious because i have a small exhaust mod but i have very little into my car and it zooms
I might have taken it a little easy as the owner was in the back seat lol. I've seen this car go much quicker, about 7ish sounds right

when this video was released he had spent around $600 for everything, but since then more mods have been added and he's at about $1400 now.

Yo how tf did they put that shift lever on? I got a zx4 gutted I daily drive and it's a really fun car but swapping out auto shift lever is elusive to me.

Sorry for the late reply, imo the removal of the stock shifter was the hardest part, but overall straightforward, once its off its just a matter of finding one that will work with the automatic shift button. Before I did my 5 speed swap on my 2011, I pulled a leather automatic shift knob off of some Lincoln in a pick n pull yard, then I tried jamming it onto a focus in the same yard. It worked perfectly fine with just a friction fit and a trim of the plastic rod inside the shift mechanism (if you take one apart, you’ll see what I mean). It was like 5 bucks and I had a round leather shifter instead of the dildo looking one. Wound up running it for years before the swap and it never budged an inch after I installed it.
I think that model has the 2.0 liter not the 2.3
