You know, in the movies, Vader's helmet actually has a differently colored cheek, and, while it was like that so the cameras back then to pick up the detail, canonically speaking, the reason it is a different color is because of the battle with Obi-Wan in the series this figure comes from. That cheek got demolished, and they made a part that fit the rest of the helmet, so they didn't have to make a whole brand new one!
Funny enough, this Vader probably has the best Anakin likeness in the entire Black Series even though you can only see half of his face lol

There’s a cut on the back of the sculpt as well that matches with the soft goods.
My spouse works at target and was able to snag me one, but only after some guy put like 4 of the 16 he tried to buy back

Branching out to review other figures is always appreciated. This Vader figure looks pretty much on par with other recent Vaders except for the damaged appearance. Vader figures are like Wolverine figures--if you have one, you know what to expect from the rest.
I could tell you the differences in the multiple releases, but that would take paragraphs of comparing. There are subtle differences between pre Empire Strikes Back Vader and post Empire. But the legs, cod piece, upper arms and the cape are reused on all figures. The chest box and helmet, plus the gloves vary from era of Vader.
I always wanted a battle damaged Darth Vader, this is fire !! Best Darth Vader from Black Series is the Empire Strike Back version. That one and this one damaged shares the same body mold. Main difference between the molds is the butterfly joints and deep cut in elbows to get more than 90 degrees, so is the best out of the 2 molds for Vader.
This Vader is definitely cool, I have the Rogue One and Obi Wan ones and their the exact same thing

The 40th Empire Strikes Back Vader IMO is the best Hasbro Vader, good detail, great sculpt and butterfly joints. Probably will keep this Vader in box but it looks pretty good.

I need a SHF Kenobi Vader! That is going to be THE definitive Vader I know it. From my understanding the ROTJ Vader isn’t amazing because the helmet doesn’t stay together great. Most people consider the Empire 40th Vader the best for Black series.

@@MCUcollector24 Yea 3.75 is the much stronger scale for Star Wars Collecting. Hasbro is putting much more effort into TVC figures then TBS. More Deco, Softgoods, and accessories.

My mace windu lightsaber blade broke and it put me off wanting to buy Jedi 🙁
Just another reason I prefer TVC, they don't have those fragile removable blades. Most TVC Jedi come with a separate unlit lightsaber hilt.

$28 is a damn joke
Every Vader has had its pros and cons but since the 40th theyve really figured out their formula. My definitive Vader is the mafex Rogue One, but BS has the cloth tunic which just adds so much for me. Really no complaints for a battle damaged Vader. You need stuff like this to add that extra fun factor to the display. Though its a little sad Im so happy to see old parts. The single jointed knees just ruin so many BS figures for me.
Upcoming SHF Kenobi Vader will surely be the new definitive 1/12 Vader.
Yeah. The soft goods make it look nearly like a hot toys. I'll need to see it first. Some of the SHF run a little small for my liking it works for like Rey and Luke on my display but I find I like the Mafex scaling and accessories more. My Kylo is a mafex wearing the first BS robe and it's near perfect. If I could do that for Vader I'd be in business.
But also $100 😬 for under $30 Hasbro is real solid.

@@graefx SHF Kenobi Vader is listed at approx 6.7 inches. I last two SHF Vaders are identical in height to their TBS counterparts.
