    Okay I'll try, but on inexpensive Ali-Express movements. Not my good stuff, not just yet 🤣 Thank You so much. This was very informative and encouraging.

    Thanks Kalle. What if you have a hairspring that is quite out of shape near the center and near the end and so you don’t really know what shape these should be? How it changes shape from concentric to the regulator pins area and then the stud? I had to make it up and I don’t think I have it right. It’s a 1919 cylinder wrist watch. More on hair springs and taking them off/on the balance would be appreciated!

    This was fantastic information and I was able to fix a hairspring today using the techniques you presented (on a practice watch). Took a while of fiddling though.

    I would love to see a manipulation of a hairspring that is "coning" or somewhat deformed in the height of the spring, instead of it lying flat.

    Great explanation! I can manage to get a hairspring flat and round, as you describe. My troubles are often in manipulation of the end curve and also fitting the hairspring back onto the balance cock so that it stays centered and flat when re-assembled. Any tips for that?

    If the mainspring is even slightly misaligned, could that cause problems with timekeeping? I have a watch that randomly speeds up, intermittent between 3s/d but then suddenly as much as 300s/day.

    Hi, I would be most grateful if you could assist me. I have a Girard Perregaux 780.775 and the hairspring is completely damaged and I mean totally shot. Could you please offer any advice on where I could find a replacement?
    Many thanks
    Best regards
    Chris

      Hi Chris, I suggest to look for a donor movement on eBay. Usually the less expensive solution. Good luck!

    Wow, this explanation was an amazingly useful complement to your other hairspring manipulation videos. Thanks a ton! I have two questions which I hope you have the time to answer.
    Does the stud go into the drilled-out centre hole of that hairspring holding tool?
    Also, did I get it right that you prefer Bergeon tweezers (ref: 7025-6) for hairspring manipulation (the one you couldn’t find/show in the video)?
    Thanks!

    Do you ever see hairsprings break from fatigue, or change stiffness over time?

    • @ChronoglideWatchmaking
      @ChronoglideWatchmaking  Год назад

      A balance spring isn't bending in one particular place so there is hardly any fatigue. they will function for hundreds of years. excellent question Tim!

    Dag chronoglide
    Ik snap één ding niet
    Kun je mee uitleg geven als je 90 geraden gaat waar je moet dan beginnen welke zijde van spiraal bij de virol opening kant of waar die spiraal binnen kant vast zit in de virol
    Graag een uitleg

    • @ChronoglideWatchmaking
      @ChronoglideWatchmaking  Год назад

      You always start at the collet (virole) and simply follow the balance spring. If you find a defect (e.g. windings touching). go back 90 degrees and adjust. solve only one problem at the time. Stay calm, look carefully and overthink what is happening.

      90 geraden terug gaan naar virol kant binnenzijde of buitenzijde?
