I just bought a 2013 Spark! I'm a new driver, so the power of the engine isn't a big deal to me. I find it's a peppy little car and for my first car, I'm very happy with it. It turns so nicely. It's perfect. :)
I was actually impressed with this car, I rented one for a couple weeks and was leery thinking it was going to be dreadful, but very wrong. In the past, I've been an off road vehicle type of person with trucks and 4x4 SUVs. the Spark was a nice change and surprise. Even with the low HP, it still had some get up & go. The reviews state that the Spark isn't really for the Hwy, but I never had problems as it is totally capable of maneuvering in traffic with comfort. I was able to do 80 mph without problems. The instrument cluster is fantastic along with the touch screen stereo that incorporates with a lot of cool stuff through your smartphone. Awesome car and it is roomy inside, I couldn't tell I was in a subcompact. It is sporty and not an embarrassment. With the hi tech features & mpg who cares, it's a nice ride, it suits my life style and seems to be dependable with a good crash rating, sporty and cost effective, I'll put the extra gas money in the bank. The price is just right.
You must have got a rare one then. The ones I have driven go 0-40 in about 9 seconds. I am almost scared to drive them as I'm afraid I'll be run over because it can't get up to the speed limit.
I agree with you. I got this as a rental. It was surprisingly zippy on highway and fairly roomy. Seat was comfortable and driver seat had pretty good leg room. I am thinking of buying one as a daily driver.
I rented a Spark, and drove 438 miles and got 40.5 mpg. Was very comfortable, and removal of the back seat bottoms creates plenty of cargo room. So much I easily fit my 36" dog crate and all luggage with plenty of room to spare. I love it so much I am buying one!
I have to say, I'm pretty impressed by what Chevrolet and Chrysler and other american car manufacturers improved their build quality over the past 2-3 years. Job well done.
this cars worth every penny! I've had mine for almost a year now. handles great, and it has surprisingly quick off the line for only having 84 horse power. The main selling point for everyone, other than the price (around 14k), is the mpg. Its amazing on gas. It also offers more features than its competitors (fiat and scion iq). The only negative I could complain about is that I wish it had a little more "top end". But who doesn't ?

I don't understand how someone could dis like a video by saabkyle04
terrific car review: The most thorough I've had the pleasure to watch. The HD video really complemented the superb running commentary. I feel as though I've just visited the dealership myself. Thanks!
I have sat in one & the roominess surprised me almost as much as when I heard "4 speed automatic". Looks like this will still be a perfect fit for my mom.
I bought this can a month ago and its great. The best thing about it is you have to do oil change EVERY 7500 miles!!! No kidding. I didnt know this until i got the first chevy letter in the mail so if you are looking into staving money the i would recommend the spark. Im really happy about my decision.
yea i bought it two weeks ago, its a great car and great power on the freeway with just 84 hp. i got the windows tinted to limo because it matched and looks good with the color black.
This car is nice. I like how it adds nice features to the car. I've never seen a car with a touch screen that is under $20,000. Good job Chevrolet! And thank you Kyle for interviewing this car. =)
A few months ago, my father's uncle(who's in his 90s) told dad he'd never imagine to see small cars conquering America, land of ships over wheels. Of course the crisis and our current care with the environment along with money issues have brought all that up. Those wonderful and gigantic autombiles of 50s are totally out of fit for the 21st century reality. But I must agree that the golden image of America is still so big it gets hard to believe those little(nice) cars are coming over.
Hopefully when im old enough im going to get the one that hasnt been facelifted, i love these little things, they look fun to drive and they also look sporty, 4.5 stars for me because it just needs a bigger boot/trunk and then it would be the perfect car!
Automan14 I wouldn't mind driving this car everyday and I'm 43 years old man. I'm tired of my 3 gluttonous and thirsty (v-8 cars) sucking out my wallet buying fuel all the time. Fuel is expensive.
And they make hitch receivers for this car. So it will tow a small utility trailer too if you need more cargo space. I was very tempted at buying one but found out it was in a frontal crash.
You can always trust the Bowtie. Maybe not the prettiest, fastest, or best equipped cars, but if you need transportation, any of their cars will get you where you need to go.
NOTE: The back seat bottoms come out COMPLETELY with a snap. He did not show this and should have. By taking them out, the back seats go totally flat like a Honda Fit.
I live in NYC and I still drive a SUV. Its not my job to come up with cars that back in the 80's were getting better gas mileage. Older small body BMW , stick, diesel. Gave you over 40mpg highway if driven right.
I had the first gen of this car, a 1998 Daewoo Matiz, 4 door. It was more fuel effiecent than my motorbike with it's frugal 0.8 engine. I maxed it out once at 96mph with 5 people squashed in the car. Good thing I didn't crash because I'm pretty sure I'd be safer on my motorbike then that tin can car.
well i bought the car a month ago and its been great so far, great on gas also has good torque on the freeway, but the there are a few things i dont like about it which are the shocks and the speakers in the car. first the car feels like it doesnt have shocks when ur going over railroad tracks of uneven pavement u feel everything in the car and when u do go over a bump or the railroad tracks u bounce pretty high on ur seat, also the speakers in the car sound like a regular stereo u would plug in
@@scorpiocara6798 this was sever years ago... Don't buy the car, it's horrible. Also I traded it in a few months after ownership because of how bad it drove and the A/C not working well with a 1 liter engine.

Why no test drive review? I drove two and liked them a lot! Very quiet and peppy even with the automatic. I did notice the five spped manual is higher rpm but still quiet at 65....the auto turns maybe 2600 at that speed and the manual was maybe 2900.
the daewoo matiz was the old model sold in europe from 1998 to 2004 under the daewoo brand and under the chevrolet brand from 2004 to 2009 when chevrolet began selling the spark. Greeting from spain Kyle¡¡ :D
Nice review. Took my daughter to walk some used lots and get a feel for what used cars are like and came across one of these w 4k miles demo. Knew nothing about it. Engine sound reminded me alot of the 80's Chevy Sprint. Moved about the same. For the price compared to many used cars its simple impressive. Curious to get Test crash data. Car drove nice. (far nicer than i expected) Power is not its thing. Phone link is Genius, why put $ into your car that your phone already has.
I am debating between The Scion iQ, and this one. Idk which to get. This is cheaper, but the iQ gets 5 more miles to the gallon. My car now gets 28. So I would only be getting 4 more miles vs 9.
well it was made for europe and asia, here in europe people generally know how to drive stick, and so they prefer even cheaper manual. That one is 5speed. For the US market they fit it with one of them oldschool 4speed automatic, as an extra.
I like your videos they are very good reviews, i was wondering if you could do a review on the 2013 ford focus st for me, i am really interested in that car, if you could, that would be awsome
planning to put down an order for one of these sometime next year! Going with base model LS with the manual. Still have to find one to test, drive though, all local dealerships don't have any and closest one that has it is 62 miles away :( Oh well, first things first, get my licence lol :D
Can't say that about the Sonic, which is the Aveo's replacement. That car is miles ahead of the Aveo in every sense, especially build quality, value for money, power, and gas mileage.
hey kyle. you've had the ford fiesta & focus in the usa for a while now. check out another supermini car that we have in the uk called the "FORD KA". you americans might just want to try & get it over there. very popular with young drivers here in the uk. cheers for now.

And I thought the Sonic was already a small car. Then again there is a market for Smart fortwos in North America...
