I used to send songs by email to my dad. This was the last one I sent him. My mom was in the early stages of dementia-he thanked me and said they held hands and listened to it over and over. A few days later they were both killed by a reckless driver. This will be my 2nd Christmas without them and I'm so thankful for this song and for their faith in God.

Also, on August 11, 2017, my sister and I went to see Neil Sedaka here in NJ and let me tell you...he still sounds great!! When he sang this song, I just cried thinking about how my dad and I cannot sing this song or communicate anymore due to his illness. Thank you Mr. Sedaka, it was awesome listening to you in person!! God bless always.
The way that he looks at his daughter with such a level of admiration and love is nothing short of breathtaking. I’m 55. My husband is 58 so we grew up listening to Neil Sedaka but we have a 16-year-old daughter because we started late and he said to me the way he looks at her. He’s like that’s how I feel when I look at our daughter with so much love.
I can't help but think of my late husband when I hear this. If I could have I would have never let him go. After 45 years of marriage, he passed away two years ago. My heart still aches for him every single day!
I know how you feel my wife was a saint she died 5 years ago there was a hundred beautiful things about her I'm crying now as I send you this 5 years later

My dad and I used to sing duets all the time at church and weddings. He’s still alive but he’s 91 and doesn’t have that voice to sing anymore. But we often talk about those duets. ❤😊
Yes, this sound catured my soul right from the start. It felt the the beginning of something realy really wonderhaed. This song never disappointed or took the wrong turn. Thank You Jesus for these two beautiful souls and talents you created. And I love seeing a father and daughter so close that they can sing together and how Dara looks so much like her father. So amazing. Amazing Grace🎼🎤🫶🧔♀️🎹
I was in high school when this song came out, 1980, and from the moment I heard it I loved it. I used to stay in my room with the door closed and take my hair brush in hand and sing away. I have always loved music! This song reminds me of my dad because when I would sing he would join in and sing "Neil's" part. My dad is now 87 and is suffering from Parkinson's disease, he is in a nursing home and he is half the man he was back then but one thing has never changed...THE LOVE I FEEL FOR HIM IS ALWAYS STRONG! HE IS THE BEST DAD IN THE WORLD! It's amazing what that damn disease takes away from a person. Thanks Mr. Sedaka for writing this beautiful song and thank you to my daddy for all you've done for me for 52 years! I LOVE YOU VERY, VERY MUCH!!
Thanks for the comment and blessing. I hope I made my dad proud. Right now it is difficult to see the person that he has become due to that terrible disease. There are days that he doesn't even know who I am but I know in his heart he will always know that I am his baby and that I love him very much! God bless you and your family as well.

This song still brings tears to my eyes. A gorgeous song - a very blessed man and his beautiful daughter singing in harmony together. Absolutely lovely. ❤️🙏
What more could a father who has the musical talent like Neil Sadaka wish for, to sing his own composition with his daughter on stage, A very magical moment in both there lives

Wow, Neil's daughter Dara can really sing! I remember when this song was first released (I was in my early teens) and I just loved it. And, true to form, it has stood the test of time -- the mark of a truly great song.
I still remember the first time I heard this, Dara was noticeably younger, on one of his specialties. I didn’t know she was his daughter, I was just amazed at the performance, and then thinking how much emotion this girl had. Then she was introduced, and that’s when I started loving my (step)daughter, whom I wouldn’t meet for almost 40 years. Neil, Dara, and this song taught me so much about love, it was only second to may parents.
I don't think you understand. Sweetie 🥰 You don't understand the effect you've had a my entire life. I'm learning to let go of all the bad things in the past and to be grateful for what I found in the world today. You 🩷🕊️ take away my worries. You take away my sorrow, you really do and that's why I'm crazy about you. 💘. Thank you! Honestly thank you for making me feel just so special 💘💘💘
I'm 58 yrs. old here in 2024. Back when I was in middle school (ages ago), my classmate and I were in choir and we would sing this song together in harmony with her singing alto and me soprano. We sounded sooo good! Love this song!
I remember when this song came out and even though it barely got any airtime at all (and I listened to a half-dozen stations in So. Calif. at that time), I knew this was extraordinary. So glad it's here and available to return to, and transport me back to those days.
I just watched a recent interview with Neil and he is still living in the same building/condo that he rented since 1972. They knocked down some walls and now he owns the whole floor.
This song has special meaning for me. Early 1980s (near the time this song was released)...... college..... the most beautiful girlfriend one could possibly imagine...... so much in love..... but we decided to go to opposite coasts for graduate school, and separated.......A few years later, we had a New Year's Eve date when I was in her city...... when she walked into the room..... "her beauty steals my breath away" ...... it was a magical night. "I should have never let her go." ..... But she married another. ....... And I have remained single ..... because even after all these years ...... no one else has ever compared to her. .... "You're the one I can't forget...." This singular song brings back all those memories from so long ago. "I should have never let you go."
Awesome song. I first heard this song when I was listening to a re-broadcast of a Casey Kasem countdown that this song was a part of a week or a couple of weeks ago.
Father and daughter singing beautiful harmony! It touches my heart every time I hear it. I saw Neil in person in the 1970's and again in the 2010's. He wrote and recorded some beautiful songs.
This is the music I grew up listening to. I always thought that music and life would remain this way. Glad that this was uploaded as a reminder that there was a generation who actually listened to great music. Thank you for the darling memories.
I asked "Alexa" to play Neil Sedaka songs. I'm familiar with most of his songs except this one "Should've never let you go". I like this duet so much and ask Alexa to play it on "repeat". Wrote the lyrics with chords on my music notebook while listening to it.
Beautiful neil sedaka your daughter is amazing when you walk in to a room if only my father was still here he loved this song it was a joy to watch while on this lockdown god bless stay safe and thank you again for sharing all of the songs music and dance for all to watch 🍀
What a beautiful duet. I remember them singing this on American Bandstand shortly after it was released. When Dara sings "go" at 3:43...wow! It's perfect.
Why isn't he in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? He has more hits on the top Billboard list and has written a super amount of hits for other artists but still isn't in the Hall. That's a disgrace.
+ExBruinsFan So you believe that Cat Stevens, the Bee Gees, Johnny Cash, Dick Clark, Neil Diamond, Pete Seeger, Dusty Springfield, Louis Armstrong, Donna Summer, James Taylor are all rock and roll, but Neil Sedaka is not?
Billboard's #77 song of the '80 survey year. God bless you, juango, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed week! Shalom, Neil and Dara (they're Jewish)!
Oh my what a wonderful singer Dara is. Takes after her father. He will be so proud of her as she is of him. Absolutely impressive. Thank you so very much.

THEY ARE FABULOUS TOGETHER !!! BEAUTIFULLY DONE !!! AND NO "HALL OF FAME" FOR NEIL... THAT IS RIDICULOUS.... HE DESERVES IT !!!!SO MANY HITS....
It reached #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #4 on the Adult Contemporary charts in 1980. It was Neil's last Hot 100 appearance.
Dara Sedaka has one of the prettiest alto voices. I wish she had done more recordings. Fabulous duet, great blend.
DARA..SO LOVELY!
Back again 8 December 2020, one word explains this song- "Beautiful"
Wow, Neil's daughter Dara can really sing! I remember when this song was first released (I was in my early teens) and I just loved it. And, true to form, it has stood the test of time -- the mark of a truly great song.
The sweetest father and daughter duet ever!!
Hi Denise 💐💐
I still remember the first time I heard this, Dara was noticeably younger, on one of his specialties. I didn’t know she was his daughter, I was just amazed at the performance, and then thinking how much emotion this girl had. Then she was introduced, and that’s when I started loving my (step)daughter, whom I wouldn’t meet for almost 40 years. Neil, Dara, and this song taught me so much about love, it was only second to may parents.
She had an impressively good voice. Sounds good with her Dad! ❤
Hello 👋, How are you doing?
I don't think you understand. Sweetie 🥰 You don't understand the effect you've had a my entire life. I'm learning to let go of all the bad things in the past and to be grateful for what I found in the world today. You 🩷🕊️ take away my worries. You take away my sorrow, you really do and that's why I'm crazy about you. 💘. Thank you! Honestly thank you for making me feel just so special 💘💘💘
Dara has a beautiful voice, she’s definitely Neil Sedaka’s daughter! They’re both are so wonderful & talented musical artists. Love this song🤗💕
Excellent duet..Oui.
I'm 58 yrs. old here in 2024. Back when I was in middle school (ages ago), my classmate and I were in choir and we would sing this song together in harmony with her singing alto and me soprano. We sounded sooo good! Love this song!
I know I’ve commented before but this song always always makes me feel about my dad who passed in 1992 and he was such a great dad❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Galen, are you her?
What a heart break man, when you find that true love...never let it go and do what ever you can to keep it....for you may never find another.
❤ so beautiful together.
Beautiful, brings me to tears thinking of my estranged eldest daughter....😑😑😑
This is the music I grew up listening to. I always thought that music and life would remain this way. Glad that this was uploaded as a reminder that there was a generation who actually listened to great music. Thank you for the darling memories.
So beautiful!
Re Discovered this beautiful song. They really don't make them like this any more.
What a romantic and bittersweet song! Love it! His daughter is so talented! She should have blew up way back then!
This was recorded in 1980. She was born in 1963. Do the math and be amazed at the talent of a 17 year old girl
I asked "Alexa" to play Neil Sedaka songs. I'm familiar with most of his songs except this one "Should've never let you go".
I like this duet so much and ask Alexa to play it on "repeat".
Wrote the lyrics with chords on my music notebook while listening to it.
Hello Maria, How are you doing?
Possibly my most favorite Neil Sedaka song.
Such beautiful voices
Beautiful neil sedaka your daughter is amazing when you walk in to a room if only my father was still here he loved this song it was a joy to watch while on this lockdown god bless stay safe and thank you again for sharing all of the songs music and dance for all to watch 🍀
What a beautiful duet. I remember them singing this on American Bandstand shortly after it was released. When Dara sings "go" at 3:43...wow! It's perfect.
that's very, very beautiful, father and daughter ❤️ really this song touch your heart.. 😔
Why isn't he in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? He has more hits on the top Billboard list and has written a super amount of hits for other artists but still isn't in the Hall. That's a disgrace.
He's not rock and roll.
ExBruinsFan Half of the people inducted into the Rock And Roll aren't rock and roll either!
There should be no Hall if a legend like Neil Sedaka, as performer and songwriter, isn't in it.
RARHOF is a joke
A Father and daughter duet Niel and Dara Sedaka....
Their harmonies are spot on................
15? Wow. That makes me so envious. She should have never let her singing career go!
Hello Teresa, How are you doing?

.
Dude this is out of the park!
Even though the video quality is pretty poor, I think Dara looks stunning sitting there are the piano, looking over at her dad. Beautiful!
My god why wasn't Dara a bigger star!!
This song always makes me cry, reminding me of me and my dad❤❤❤❤❤
My late husband Paul 's and my Favorite. We attended one of Nerl's concerts in Lake Tahoe many years ago .Neil's.daughter Dara sang this with him that night 🌙 We were AWED and at 27 I loved him and still do to this day .
