I remember hearing this very song when I was a typical tormented teenager filled with angst. Hearing this song after 40 years, brought back all those whirling, swirling memories. This is such a beautiful song, a haunting melody, lovely harmony. Just lovely. Thank you. ❤️
38 years later this still puts a tear in my eye. this is music that could have only been God inspired thru the beautiful minds of neil and dara sedaka. this is so beautiful that it cant be described...thank you, neil and dara.
What more could a father who has the musical talent like Neil Sadaka wish for, to sing his own composition with his daughter on stage, A very magical moment in both there lives
I was a little girl when this song came out. When i turned 25, my Dad and i sang the Nat and Natalie Cole duet. I always wanted to do this one with him. He passed 3-years ago Thursday. Although i thought about him all throughout the day, i finally got to honor his memory by playing this song. I will never let you go, Pops! I will always cherish you!!
Wow, Neil's daughter Dara can really sing! I remember when this song was first released (I was in my early teens) and I just loved it. And, true to form, it has stood the test of time -- the mark of a truly great song.
This is the music I grew up listening to. I always thought that music and life would remain this way. Glad that this was uploaded as a reminder that there was a generation who actually listened to great music. Thank you for the darling memories.
Oh my what a wonderful singer Dara is. Takes after her father. He will be so proud of her as she is of him. Absolutely impressive. Thank you so very much.
Tim Leach I heard Neil say in an interview that she didn't want to go the "show business" route. I think she did some commercial work at one point though. But I agree, she's got a beautiful voice!
One of the most beautifully composed songs ever made, bar none! Mr. Sedaka, and Dara Sedaka, You both made a classic hit! Thank you both for your music!

Update on my dad from the last time I wrote 2 years ago. My dad is now 89 and on Hospice, he has Parkinson's and End Stage Dementia. Please pray that the Good Lord will not let him suffer too much more. Thank you and God bless you all. I love my daddy very much and this is killing me.
It is okay to grieve, and it is okay to look back on all the wonderful memories, I lost my Dad when I was 14 and my Mom back in 2013, I think of both of them daily and I am closing on 67 next month. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep!!!
I was in high school when this song came out, 1980, and from the moment I heard it I loved it. I used to stay in my room with the door closed and take my hair brush in hand and sing away. I have always loved music! This song reminds me of my dad because when I would sing he would join in and sing "Neil's" part. My dad is now 87 and is suffering from Parkinson's disease, he is in a nursing home and he is half the man he was back then but one thing has never changed...THE LOVE I FEEL FOR HIM IS ALWAYS STRONG! HE IS THE BEST DAD IN THE WORLD! It's amazing what that damn disease takes away from a person. Thanks Mr. Sedaka for writing this beautiful song and thank you to my daddy for all you've done for me for 52 years! I LOVE YOU VERY, VERY MUCH!!
Thanks for the comment and blessing. I hope I made my dad proud. Right now it is difficult to see the person that he has become due to that terrible disease. There are days that he doesn't even know who I am but I know in his heart he will always know that I am his baby and that I love him very much! God bless you and your family as well.

I remember when this song came out and even though it barely got any airtime at all (and I listened to a half-dozen stations in So. Calif. at that time), I knew this was extraordinary. So glad it's here and available to return to, and transport me back to those days.
Awesome song. I first heard this song when I was listening to a re-broadcast of a Casey Kasem countdown that this song was a part of a week or a couple of weeks ago.
Father and daughter singing beautiful harmony! It touches my heart every time I hear it. I saw Neil in person in the 1970's and again in the 2010's. He wrote and recorded some beautiful songs.
Very good but there are others as well performed. Paul Anka did a duet with his daughter Anthea: "Do I Love You?" : ruclips.net/video/iO9IfDjf2fA/видео.html And I believe Natalie Cole did a duet "Unforgettable" with her father Nat King Cole posthumously.
I saw Neil sing at a county fair in Miami years ago. It was amazing. He played a video of this song and sang along with it. Some girls sitting next to me were singing at the top of their lungs and I told them I was there to hear Neil sing not them. They stopped singing and then Neil announced to the crowd for everyone to sing along with his songs. After that I moved to the back and tried to just hear his voice among the hundred or so people singing along with him.
What a beautiful duet! Their voices are very compatible and I love this version. I know Neil will make it in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame -- he wrote so many beautiful songs and many made it into the top 40.
This is on of my Favorite Neal Sadaks songs!!! It takes me way back to my innocense...plain and simple :) My heart always fills up. My family was so happy in the those times. I love reminiscing about those times, my mom and dad have both passed on, but the memories....are the best part of me.
I still remember the first time I heard this, Dara was noticeably younger, on one of his specialties. I didn’t know she was his daughter, I was just amazed at the performance, and then thinking how much emotion this girl had. Then she was introduced, and that’s when I started loving my (step)daughter, whom I wouldn’t meet for almost 40 years. Neil, Dara, and this song taught me so much about love, it was only second to may parents.
Billboard's #77 song of the '80 survey year. God bless you, juango, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed week! Shalom, Neil and Dara (they're Jewish)!
thanks for the vid. i love this song! i was in glendale california in dolphin shorts and a tube top, typing on a typewriter sitting in the sun when i heard this on the radio 1976. so good.
Spectacular voices. Never knew he had a daughter that could sing like this! It was brought to my attention recently so I did google search which brought me here. Great song! Luv it. She has a better voice than 99% of the stars today!
What a beautiful duet. I remember them singing this on American Bandstand shortly after it was released. When Dara sings "go" at 3:43...wow! It's perfect.
Heard this song on Zoomer Radio, am 760 out of Canada on a Neil Sedaka, half hour show. They ended the show with this song. How nice and touching. Reminds me of my high school love. I have always appreciated Neils music over the years even though I was into all the heavies back in the day. This collaborations is beautiful! As we get older, and we begin to take time to listen, our depth of enjoyment broadens tremendously...
i was in junior high school when this came out. i remember listening to it in the morning before going off to school on AM radio station that my mother listend to every morning. i did not know how beauitufull dara sedaka was untel you tube but this was one of my all time favorite songs and it still is, "when you walk into the room you take my breath away"... i have no words because that says it all.. and "i have built so many walls around me now that the walls are tumbling down" it is time less
Thanks for uploading this song. It came to my mind this morning. It reminds me of my young teenager years. Alas, the radio has stopped playing it years ago. It should have been a much bigger hit than reaching only no.19 in Billboard Hot 100 back in 1980.
The first time I heard this song I fell in love with it.I was 17yrs old at the time, and did not know it was Neil, and his daughter.I I just turned 50 yrs old,and I still love this song.Neil create masterpieces with every song u write, and record.
there's your answer, Rich - 215 (and counting) without a soul left. Feel bad for these people. I see people from my childhood and past now empty/dark/sullen due to their second act(s). They didn't chose a vocation they desperately loved - they choose "Where the job's likely to be." .
Usual idiots here commenting their pathetic virtue signals disrespecting the concept that artistry is dependent upon a diversity of tastes and opinions. The only soulless morons here are those stuck in their narrow-minded cultural ruts who think that enjoying something artistic makes you intellectually virtuous. Imagine what a shockingly sad and soulless world it would be if everyone shared exactly the same tastes. There would be no point in being innovative any more.
I'm 58 yrs. old here in 2024. Back when I was in middle school (ages ago), my classmate and I were in choir and we would sing this song together in harmony with her singing alto and me soprano. We sounded sooo good! Love this song!
I had the pleasure of seeing Neil last year in Vegas and he is just as good in his 70's as he was here. What a talent and what a class act. He couldn't have been more gracious to the sell-out crowd.
What a beautiful song by Neil & Dara, so talented, I could go on listening. Will get the album. Thank you Neil for entertaining the world & sharing your talents with the world. So proud of you & your daughter& the whole Sedaka fam God bless & Aloha, Lorraine 🤗👌🌈🌺
Such a beautiful song. They never play it on the radio anymore, but I have never forgotten it. Somebody left behind their copy of Neil's greatest hits at our house, and now I have the pleasure of hearing it whenever I want again.

Very good but there are others as well performed. Paul Anka did a duet with his daughter Anthea: "Do I Love You?" : ruclips.net/video/iO9IfDjf2fA/видео.html
And I believe Natalie Cole did a duet "Unforgettable" with her father Nat King Cole posthumously.
Beautiful duet by Dad and daughter.
After that I moved to the back and tried to just hear his voice among the hundred or so people singing along with him.
what a beautiful father daughter relationship! i want that with my two darling daughters. i am crying...
What a beautiful duet! Their voices are very compatible and I love this version. I know Neil will make it in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame -- he wrote so many beautiful songs and many made it into the top 40.
Beautiful girl. Beautiful song.
One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard, glad to have been a part of
those times when it was released. Thank you for posting it.
THANK YOU. NEIL IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES, SINCE 1959.OH ! CAROL
I agree 100%. One word..... BEAUTIFUL 🌹
This is on of my Favorite Neal Sadaks songs!!! It takes me way back to my innocense...plain and simple :) My heart always fills up. My family was so happy in the those times. I love reminiscing about those times, my mom and dad have both passed on, but the memories....are the best part of me.
Hi Rosa💐💐
I still remember the first time I heard this, Dara was noticeably younger, on one of his specialties. I didn’t know she was his daughter, I was just amazed at the performance, and then thinking how much emotion this girl had. Then she was introduced, and that’s when I started loving my (step)daughter, whom I wouldn’t meet for almost 40 years. Neil, Dara, and this song taught me so much about love, it was only second to may parents.
Dara Sedaka has one of the prettiest alto voices. I wish she had done more recordings. Fabulous duet, great blend.
Billboard's #77 song of the '80 survey year. God bless you, juango, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed week! Shalom, Neil and Dara (they're Jewish)!
Thank you Neil and Dara for this song. Beautiful voices, beautiful words.
Hello Elisabeth, How are you doing?
thanks for the vid. i love this song! i was in glendale california in dolphin shorts and a tube top, typing on a typewriter sitting in the sun when i heard this on the radio 1976. so good.
Hi Barb💐💐
I feel sad when I hear this song, terrible to lose a loved one. But it so beautiful the harmony. Well done .
Top shelf ❤
A very beautiful moment and wonderful singing of a great song. Thanks to Neil and Dara. Love this song!!
Neil lifts me every time I look at him, hear his voice, watch Neil here on
You Tube kindly giving concerts.
.
How wonderful would it be to have the ability to sing so beautifully, so effortlessly, so wonderfully. Thank you.
Spectacular voices. Never knew he had a daughter that could sing like this! It was brought to my attention recently so I did google search which brought me here. Great song! Luv it. She has a better voice than 99% of the stars today!
Thank u mr sedaka for memory that cant be released or taken away . Thank u for your music.
Thank you....beautiful song.... a beautiful duo.
I love this song so much it's so beautiful to see father and daughter singing together this is from Hawaii
Well said.
Absolutely beautiful! Neil is a staggering talent and it's more than evident his daughter has inherited some of that talent. Very well done.
One great song of so many written and performed by Mr Sedaka.
An awesomely talented man.
Cheers!
This is my favorite Neil Sedaka song. Ever. It's so poignant and moving. And I think we all can relate to the gorgeous lyrics.
Hello Julie, How are you doing?
i was in junior high school when this came out. i remember listening to it in the morning before going off to school on AM radio station that my mother listend to every morning. i did not know how beauitufull dara sedaka was untel you tube but this was one of my all time favorite songs and it still is, "when you walk into the room you take my breath away"... i have no words because that says it all.. and "i have built so many walls around me now that the walls are tumbling down" it is time less
Thanks for uploading this song. It came to my mind this morning. It reminds me of my young teenager years. Alas, the radio has stopped playing it years ago. It should have been a much bigger hit than reaching only no.19 in Billboard Hot 100 back in 1980.
Fantástico...!!! Porqué no lo vi antes...?
The first time I heard this song I fell in love with it.I was 17yrs old at the time, and did not know it was Neil, and his daughter.I I just turned 50 yrs old,and I still love this song.Neil create masterpieces with every song u write, and record.
I heard this morning on the American Top 40 rebroadcast from 1980. I don't remember this song. It's nice!
How could anyone with a soul
Give this a thumbs down?
maybe because it appears to be a copy of a copy of a copy.
Think of it as 97% of viewers "liked" this. 3% Don't know good music, when they hear it.
there's your answer, Rich - 215 (and counting) without a
soul left. Feel bad for these people. I see people from my childhood
and past now empty/dark/sullen due to their second act(s). They didn't
chose a vocation they desperately loved - they choose "Where the job's likely to be."
.
Rich Aliasdude That’s because, they probably don’t have one.....but we do!
I'm 58 yrs. old here in 2024. Back when I was in middle school (ages ago), my classmate and I were in choir and we would sing this song together in harmony with her singing alto and me soprano. We sounded sooo good! Love this song!
OMG. This was absolutely beautiful.
I had the pleasure of seeing Neil last year in Vegas and he is just as good in his 70's as he was here. What a talent and what a class act. He couldn't have been more gracious to the sell-out crowd.
Beautifully sung! Such a sad and haunting song but I love it so much.
Hello 👋, How are you doing?
Even though the video quality is pretty poor, I think Dara looks stunning sitting there are the piano, looking over at her dad. Beautiful!
Wow!!! Absolutely stunning. I remember when this song came out many decades ago.
She had an impressively good voice. Sounds good with her Dad! ❤
Hello 👋, How are you doing?
She has a great voice. So cute with a father and daughter. Thanks for sharing!
The sweetest father and daughter duet ever!!

+j flo FOR SURE.
+j flo I join your proposal
He isn't in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame??? Someone there must hate him....
yes, I really agree after all those beautiful original immortal music he has composed!!! God bless us!
Rob Watkins n
A writer, performer, showman and filthy rich. He is a guilty pleasure. Sounds like he is singing in harmony with himself. Incredible!
One of the best duets ever! Beautiful song, Neil Sedaka!
Then come back yes u should have never let me go and u cound have me when you cound have
I was never a Neil Sedaka fan.., but this song..., wow, why haven't I heard it before...!!!!
Such a beautiful song. They never play it on the radio anymore, but I have never forgotten it. Somebody left behind their copy of Neil's greatest hits at our house, and now I have the pleasure of hearing it whenever I want again.
I've loved this since I was a child in the 70s. I'd run around the house singing it and would quietly say 'damn', in case my parents heard me.
They play it a lot on Sirius
