I used to clean houses. Coworkers wanted one of those big houses. My thought was, I guess they learned nothing from having to clean them. They had to work so hard they paid people to clean their homes... because they had no time to clean and even enjoy their houses. For me 1200 sq feet or less. Less to repair, clean and maintain. That is also a ton of space.
I feel the EXACT SAME WAY! I wanted to BUY the big beautiful home, until we RENTED ONE- I realized then it was A LOT OF WORK to maintain! We bought a home that’s HALF THE SIZE and LOVE IT! When we have company over it’s very “cozy” But our home is PERFECT for us! And much easier upkeep! 😉
I used to also help my dad clean and I agree. My 1200 sqft home is still a lot of work bur can get it done in half a day.

This was great. I have listened to his other interviews and he is a breath of fresh air from the Hollywood side of things. So many actors I’ve stopped watching because of their outspoken ugliness of others. I like his take on family and life.
Bottom line true satisfaction is having JESUS in our lives!!! Then is when we are truly rich with HOLY GOD’S promises!! Thank you Matthew for your simplicity and God bless you and your family and the same for Rachel!!🙏🙏
Love, love, love this man. He is so much more than an actor and the rolls he had typically portrayed. He is very wise, self-analyzing, and sharing. The Green Lights book is so full of introspection and lessons learned. It took me many years to learn most of the things he brings to us in this book (I’m 70). I bought a copy for all my grandchildren that are over 20 yrs. I hope they GET IT.

Love this interview. spoke to my heart. Taking things for granted and gratitude. Loved how he mentioned lessons instilled as a child and how he instills them in his children but in a different way.

I have been living in Austin like Matthew since 2009. He is so like us and down to earth. What you talk about is exactly what he and many other stars think. $ does not buy happiness. I am comfortable and am always wanting more but the goal post is always moving. You do not enjoy the moment as much.
Such a good and inspiring interview. Also starstruck! 🤩 He has always been a long time favorite actor of mine and it’s refreshing to see how “normal” he is!
These comments from Matthew in this interview SHOULD BE taught to all children by around 10 yrs and reinforced frequently until they get it by their parents and teachers when possible. Kids today don’t have any idea of these concepts.

Yeah he's cool, but he needs to cut that hair. He's got that look like he could be confused for someone's aunt.
I enjoyed listening to McConaughey, but not in this interview due the screechy female voice which kept butting in. McConaughey's interview with Jordan Peterson was far, far better. I couldn't take more than 2 minutes of this woman.
