    Dean, you forgot to mention the fact that when all the characters say Sora, they are looking at the sky. In Japanese, "sora" means sky. It is an amazing detail in this cutscene. Also adds to the "They all share the same sky, the same destiny." line of the series. 10/10 scene right here.

      TopHatLucario actually, vector is a mathematical term. if you take out the recusant's sigil from xion's name and rearrange her name, you get no. i (number i, with i standing as imaginary, another mathematical term). everything in the series has a hidden meaning.

    • @TopHatLucario
      @TopHatLucario 7 лет назад +14

      njaisinghaninjl Huh. That's pretty cool. Never knew that. I believe "Vector" also meant "travel", "way to", if I'm correct. So "Way to Sora".

    • @njaisinghaninjl
      @njaisinghaninjl 7 лет назад +6

      TopHatLucario "way to the sky". it also means death, in a sense. it's the song that plays right before xion is left, never to come back (at least as of now).

    I think there are many ways to look at the blank points ending where Aqua cries at hearing the name of Sora. The way I have always looked at it was that when she heard Sora's name, it wasn't because she was surprised but rather the boy she met so long ago was still trying his best to protect/ fix everything. That there was still hope. That maybe one day, Sora would be the person to help her get back all she lost back to normal. This was reinforced when 0.2 came out and Mickey told her that both Riku AND Sora are helping him. (Not to mention him telling Aqua that Sora has a keyblade). I do remember the quote that Aqua said to Sora that "So then if something happens, and Riku is about to get lost-or say, he starts wandering down a dark path alone-you make sure to stay with him and keep him safe. That's your job, Sora, and I'm counting on you to do it, okay?" That she knew that maybe one day he would have the power to do things. Whether or not you think that means she thought Sora could also get a keyblade is up to discussion but that quote let me know that she saw something in Sora. Great work as always Dean.

      Please, don't even try to patch this up.
      According to 0.2, it has literally been a few hours in Realm of Darkness (a year in the real world) since Mickey met with Aqua and told her that there's this boy who's going around saving the worlds with a keyblade. According to the latest installment , Aqua already KNEW that Sora & Riku are both involved in the path of keyblade wielders and protection of the worlds.
      While clearly, in Blank Points she had absolutely no idea whatsoever what has been happening in the outside world. She wouldn't have asked for Terra or Ven's names even if it was out of hope or loneliness, because she knows who the boy is.
      The kind of shock she got in Blank Points, is her hearing the name "Sora" for the second time ever since meeting the kid 10 years ago, and knowing that he is now a hero.

      Don't put words in my mouth, no one is patching anything up so i dont know where the hell that came from lmao. I guess the words "I think" don't specify that it was my opinion.

    • @kingdomheartscomments8742
      @kingdomheartscomments8742 7 лет назад +12

      Aqua still didn't know what was happening to the outside world in Blank Points as she was under the impression the worlds had been saved at the end of 0.2. I don't think Aqua assumed the boy Ansem was talking about was Sora as Ansem's description of "the boy" was very vague and could've easily been a description of Terra or Ven. Also, Aqua still believes Terra will get control over his body back and believes Ven can awaken if his heart returns according to 0.2 and BBS, so it is logic that she asks if the boy was Terra or Ven, in my opinion. But even though the scene still makes sense, I'm ready to admit that it lost some of its impact because of 0.2.

    • @LimitForm72
      @LimitForm72 7 лет назад +8

      I am aware, I have seen the scene lol. I dont think I ever said anything about how terra and ven werent involved in the scene as literally seconds before she asked "is it terra or ven". When you saw the tear roll down aqua's face and realize that she's relieved, relieved that the child she came in contact over 10 years ago is fighting her disconnected battle... Kingdom Hearts is a really well executed series that describes the future before it takes place and for that, I'm glad.

    Perhaps it's makes the scene even more sad for Aqua. The fact that she doesn't remember the conversation with Mickey about Sora implies that she is slowly losing her memories, only remembering her dear Terra and Ventus. Maybe even foreshadowing why Aqua gave into the darkness in Kingdom Hearts III.

    No fucking way. This is actually a point I bring up in Everything Wrong With Kingdom Hearts 0.2. Blank Points is one of my favorite damn scenes in the whole series. It's fantastic. It's supposed to be a surprise to Aqua that a boy that wasn't supposed to have the power suddenly is saving all the worlds from darkness. There's hope. And then 0.2 is like "No, yeah, pft, dude, Aqua knew about Riku and Sora because Mickey told her." Like, damn it man, why? And they have the audacity to reference it in 0.2 after they, in my honest opinion, ruined it. 0.2 was a great game but had an infuriating narrative. Blank Points in and of itself was supposed to be untouchable but... Damn it, dude. I'm passionate about this scene too.

    • @twentyhundred2000
      @twentyhundred2000 7 лет назад +67

      You're forgetting that everyone lost memories of Sora before KH2, so she very well could have forgotten about him once again, therefore it would still be a surprise. I do agree that the scene in 0.2 takes away from the scene though and overcomplicates things.

      See there's 2 things that can fix this. Because ppl forgot sora before kh2 and also if that wasn't the case she'd probably lost that fain't memory of her hearing him say that. after she had to continue to survive in the the Realm of darkness. I do agree that I was like WHAT! at first and was like fuckin' hell they ruined it. But then I started thinking of every possible logic behind it.

    • @trevinodude
      @trevinodude 6 лет назад +5

      Well, if you actually think about 0.2, it actually doesn't contradict Black Points. It could he said that she said "Ven or Terra?" because she hoped Mickey finally found Terra or Ven. However when Ansem said "Sora", it could be seen as her being relieved that Sora is still saving the world. She cries because Sora is still strong enough to save the world. However, even with this theory in mind.... 0.2 did kind of devalue Blank Points.

  • @P.Mahoney
    @P.Mahoney 7 лет назад +132

    Something I noticed quite recently actually is that Axel doesn't say Sora's name here, foreshadowing that Sora doesn't save him, as he doesn't need to since he is recompleted in DDD.
    Also, while Roxas and Naminé don't need the same kind of saving as the others, they both deserve to be their own people, as Sora states to Roxas in DDD.
    EDIT: These people need to be saved. Aqua, Terra, Ventus, Roxas, Xion and Naminé. The last three deserve so much more than being stuck within others; prevented from being their own people. Would it make their disappearances (not deaths as they didn't die) less sad and remove all that emotion? No, because just like Axel, they showed how far they were willing to help and do what's right instead of being a heartless Nobody/replica. Riku made it out of the Realm of Darkness, but that doesn't lessen the impact of the ending of KH1, showing how far he was willing to go (even if he did have no choice). These characters don't die and that's a good thing, because they're not removed completely; they're left in a state of suffering, pain and hurt, thus pushing these characters further.

    Roxas is far from being "fine" actually. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that he is hurting the most, and is beyond saving. Roxas is an extremely tragic character, in a way that even the story doesn't seem to properly assess. Nobodies were all living tragic existences in some sense, but they all had something to look forward to: the chance to comeback as regular people.
    Roxas on the other hand is the only nobody that is going to fade away not to be seen again (same thing for Namine).
    What makes it worse though, is both lives that Roxas lived as a nobody. The first one, as an Org XIII member, where he was basically a marionette being only as useful as his ability to wield a Keyblade and would have been disposed of in favor of Xion if he had lost that ability. The second life, which is even more tragic, is the one he led next to Hayner, Pence and Olette, people he thought were his friends in this mundane but lovable town he lived in, only to discover that anything even remotely close to a real relationship he could have had was nothing but a simulation to stall him until Sora's awakening, where he is then forced to look at the guy that is responsible for everything bitter in his life. The "chosen" one that gets to live over you and at your expense.
    I can still go in-depth on how he was treated like he was worthless by Riku and Ansem the Wise who were manipulating the simulated world he was in and how Lea seemed to move on in DDD, befriending the main trio instead.
    I know Roxas has a kind of "happy" attitude at the end of KH2, where he seems content living as a shadow of Sora, but it certainly does not make any sense and sorta breaks his character for me, but it doesn't take away from the tragic existence he led.

    • @rorothesoft
      @rorothesoft 7 лет назад +18

      Since when is likely that Xion will be able to be saved? She was a replica, a marionette created by the organization, a puppet brought to life, not a nobody, Kairi's nobody is Naminé. And unlike Roxas and Naminé, who still exist within their counterparts Sora and Kairi, Xion is dead for good, she died in a battle against Roxas and then turned into crystal dust and straight up desintegrated in the air, there is absolutely no way of her "being saved" or returning at all, since she has no counterpart, she had no real self.. she had less than any nobody and lost it all, she's gone forever.

    I think you should really talk more about the story of KH because your style of explaining is pretty satisifing and professional. When I saw Black Points for the first time the emotion was definitely there. I actually feel pretty sorry for Ansem because of all the struggles and pain he's been through from his apprentices and especially Terranort. I hope he will get a chance in KH3 to see his home, a revived Radiant Garden again. That would be very powerful for me. All in all I don't have to say too much because you already explained everything. Oh, one thing. Most people think the story of 0.2 was poorly made and didn't make sense. Well, I don't think like that. I'm really thankful to Square for giving their best to explain even this little story lore and it's plotholes even if it affected black points a bit. Because with all these explanations it gives to me a full and satisifing feeling for the story and explains my answers. That's why I really enjoyed 0.2

  • @BobbyTheGamerOfJUSTICE
    @BobbyTheGamerOfJUSTICE 7 лет назад +33

    it kinda annoys me how a lot of KH fans say that the ending of 0.2 ruined the Blank Points cutscene. The way i see it is that when Aqua found out who Sora and Riku were before the Demon Tide boss fight, she forgot about who they becasue of how long she's been down there before she met Ansem the Wise at the dark margin. OR maybe something happened in-between 0.2 and the blank points scene that somehow forced Aqua to forget a lot of things. But once Ansem said Sora's name she finally remembered. In my honest opinion if this is what actually transpired then this makes the point blank scene a lot more impactful for me. It makes me curious what would have happened in-between both of these events too (if its real)

    The way I see it blank points is only MORE brilliant after 0.2
    Now im just gonna say this off the bat, im a new player. I literally just today finished playing 0.2 (after having binged the whole series before it). But moving on
    The way I interpreted Aqua's tears wasn't her realizing that sora was a keyblade wielder but rather realizing how much that little boy has grown and matured, and you've also gotta remember that it's been a whole year since she had that conversation with Mickey and her conversation with ansem, so it's not exactly something she would remember instantly. There are human characters and have to be treated with the knowledge that they have human mental capacities
    All in all blank points is undeniably brilliant. Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if KH3 only added to it further

      Jason Kieffer Aqua hardly had any interaction with other people in the realm of darkness besides mickey and ansem the wise (and soon riku presumeably) I think she would remember the convo with mickey. Also just because it was a year ago in the realm of light doesn't mean it was the exact same amount of time in the realm of darkness, aqua hasn't aged in the 12 years she's been there it might not be as long for her.

      Futuristic triumph alpaca there's no sign of time dilation. Time passes the same in castle oblivion yet ven doesn't age, we know that is passes the same because in the events of KH2 sora looked vastly different because he slept for a whole year. There's no indication that time would be dilated in the realm of darkness
      And I'd like to see you walk around for a whole YEAR and remember a conversation from a literal YEAR ago. It's impressive she's even kept her sanity tbh

      1)since when are wiki's 100% credible? Show me a canon source or else that's just headcanon without evidence. Aka from a game, concert, or statement from someone like Nomura
      2)time does pass in the realm of darkness. It's just wonkey and can be fucked with. The gears and clock show this perfectly
      3)even if time didn't pass it would still feel as though that much time had passed. For example if you were to stop time, and wait until your death to unfreeze it, technically no time has passed, but you would feel as though decades have gone by (assuming you'd be living a normal length life)

    My favorite scene was in BBS, when we see a child Riku and Sora look at a night sky and getting ready to head back home. Sora cries without knowing why. Riku says the worlds are connected by one big sky, says that there may be someone out there who is really hurting... and is looking for help. Riku suggests to Sora to close his eyes...... and that is when Sora meets Ventus for a second time... letting him know he can come inside Sora's heart again. Sora reopens his eyes and feels a lot better as the scene pans back to the sky with Terra, Aqua, and Ven's star still blinking in the distance.
    It was such a beautiful, sad, yet heartwarming scene.

    Yeah I'm just going to pretend that 0.2 didn't exist at this point. I'mma pretend that it's non-canon to the main story and that it was merely a graphical showcase.
    If it's canon, we can always back up the fact that Aqua had her memories of Sora briefly erased back in Chain of Memories and never thought of Sora again until Blank Points. Because when the other characters saw Sora again in KH2, they were like "Oh sh*t it's that kid! I forgot about him for a moment!"

      I think of it like this. Aqua journey between 0.2 and blank points involved her mind deteriorating a bit and she lost her memories of the worlds being in danger and Sora and Riku trying to save them. this makes blank points more emotional this way because its as if she has been going insane and hearing these things again would make her remember her experiences in 0.2 and she sheads a tear for remembering sora

      Sorry to burst your bubble, but the whole "Aqua had her memories of Sora briefly erased back in Chain of Memories and never thought of Sora again until Blank Points." thing doesn't make sense. The people who forgot Sora were the people who Sora was made to forget. Sora didn't forget Riku, Mickey, Donald, Goofy, etc. and thus they did not forget him in turn (all Riku got was a haze as Sora's memories of Riku were messed with a little to include Namine).
      Meaning that if Namine didn't erase that one memory of Sora meeting Aqua (and I doubt she did) Aqua would never have forgotten Sora. It's a nice theory, but I had to mention that :P
      Also, to the other person - not accepting something as canon just because you don't agree with it is a bit childish, no?

      True. That could also explain why Xemnas says to Roxas in Days "So sleep has taken you again". People like to say that this is a reference to Ventus's comatose body after the events of BBS, but how could Xemnas/Xehanort have known about that? It would make more sense if he was remembering how he originally found Ventus. I do like the RoD theory as well though.

    I know you probably won’t see this dean but I think 0.2 just makes this scene better, she at the time of 0.2 probably barely remembers Sora and Riku from before and Mickey tells her that those exact boys are indeed out and about and are actually helping him, she doesn’t have time to really process that or even to think to much of it really. Instead the demon tide appears soon after and takes her attention off of that revelation. After a crazy battle, what she thinks would be her ticket out of the RoD, she proceeds on to go help Riku and Mickey close the door. She doesn’t exactly see Sora beyond the door and so her perception of him having grown up and what tasks he’s accomplished thus far and how or why he’s on the other side and how he has a keyblade is unknown to her, only that they were helping Mickey. She knows of him and the fact that he’s doing important things with Mickey to some extent, but that clearly doesn’t hit her at the time nor could she be able to stop and let it sink in as she is plunged back into the twisted Destiny islands. After being separated without knowing what would happen to the worlds and the realm of light at all, she’s left to wander around “in the dark” (no pun intended) and for all she knows anything could’ve happened after she was cast back to the dark margin, Hell, they could’ve not sealed the door at all! She doesn’t even know how much time has passed and what those boys are doing or whether or not they’re even alive really.
    So when she meets up with Ansem and he explains that a boy has been saving the world she immediately is still hoping that her best friends are somehow safe, Sora isn’t on the mind at that moment. When she finally hears his name she is reminded that the little boy who she once met and vaguely remembers having helped Mickey with a keyblade, has grown up, lived and to this very day is still around saving the world once again, doing the things that she or Terra or Ven couldn’t be there to do, she sheds what I think is a tear of joy in that she’s quite glad to hear that Sora is still saving the world and trying hard to keep it safe. I don’t think it takes away from blank points at all but rather when you look at it as a tear of joy because she’s glad to hear his name once again, especially when she realizes that much more time has passed then she thought and yet, he’s still out there.

    Maybe when she fall back into darkness at the end of 0.2 she lost her memories of her journey in 0.2. I know it's a stretch but it's the best one I can think of tying in with Blank Point. As for the scene you said it perfectly and I would guess this is where people started really thinking "Next game will be Kingdom hearts 3!" but as for the people being saved besides the BBS trio. Xion shouldn't be saved since it would make her death scene in Days pointless and kinda similar to 0.2 Mickey spoiling Sora. Roxas I would be ok if he returns or not. Namine I can see returning and would want since it looks like she's still suffering in Dream Drop Distance and we need the real Sora saying thank to the real Namine not in some filler/maybe canon game.

      think of it like this. When she enters the realm of darkness its at the ending on bbs story. she wonders the realm(which bbs final mix's secret episode shows) for say hours or even a few days 0.2's ending is at the ending of kh1, mickey tells her of sora and riku but once they separate she goes on all the way passing kh chain of memories, days, and the full time frame of kh2. ansem is put in the dark realm at the end of kh2 then aqua shows up. Aqua could have forgot what happen due to so much time inbetween the ending of kh1 to the ending kh2 and ansem calls back the thought. the question is how long was aqua wondering the realm after 0.2's ending when mickey leaves her?

      @P.Mahoney 7 лет назад +4

      Dee Tavares KH2 is a year after KH1. If I recall correctly, DDD is just a little after KH2 (like a few months maybe). The final cutscene in 0.2 takes place right after DDD and KH3 will start right after that 0.2 cutscene. Ansem should still be in the Realm of Darkness along with Aqua.

    About 0.2;
    We can easily assume that when CoM happened, Aqua forgot about Sora like everyone else and she remembered him when she heard his name from Ansem.
    Like Kairi, even when she had the memories about him but very blurred, she remembered him when Roxas communicated with her.
    So, yeah, I think so.

    • @Soraalam1
      @Soraalam1  7 лет назад +1

      CoM is the best explanation I've heard, before that it was Mickey just being a bad narrator :D
      Still kinda ehhhh but I'll take what I can get. The problem with that would be that everyone remembers Sora at the same time after CoM (besides Kairi), and that's when Sora wakes up and comes out of the pod. Leon says they all suddenly remembered Sora at the same time, and that would be when Namine finished reconnecting all the chains.
      The explanation helps I suppose but Aqua only hears about him again after KH2, and there's no reason she would forget the worlds were in danger. But to be fair she could have thought the worlds were only danger once, not twice.

    It is strange how Aqua knew about Sora and Riku having Keyblades by tge time she meets Ansem and did not think to say "Was it a boy named Sora or Riku?" After asking about Terra or Ven. Especially when Mickey's words are still fresh in her memory. But the scene where she cries, I don't think that was supposed to be a surprising thing to her (at least not anymore). But more of a prideful moment for her, like a mother seeing her son graduate. She's proud that the boy she met all those years ago has done all of these good things that Ansem and Mickey have stated he's done.
    Also great video boyo. Blank Points has always been my favorite KH scene since I've first viewed. 👍

    Honestly a few changes in lines for 0.2 could have kept the secret of Sora and Riku helping Mickey. Now yeah Aqua can recall who the kids she met were, but after that we could have had Mickey say the same line EXCEPT before he can reveal their names some earthquake happens then he says that they have the hurry and he will explain later. And then after they got the keyblade he could have just said "With the Keyblade of Darkness here and the Keyblade of light on the other side,....." and not even mention Soras name. As for Riku running to the door, we COULD have Aqua see him and think "wait....is that..." before the heartless typhoon comes in

    I totally agree Dean, this is probably one of my favorite scene in the Kingdom Hearts series. It just shows how much Sora has done and how good his heart is. How heʻs able to touch so many hearts and how all these people really need him. It connects many parts of the series to what we thought was just a prequel story. And yes, I thought Fragmentary Passage, at least adding Mickeyʻs part to it ruined Blank Points, yes i agree with you, she now knows the importance of Sora and not just remembering him at that moment from the one memory of him once she meets Ansem. And it wasnʻt just that she found out he had a key blade, that too was cool, but I thought the awesome part of the scene was that she sees how great this boyʻs heart it, how much light it has and how he was able to save the worlds with the power of his heart. How great this boy Sora grew up to be. Seeing Mickey spilling the beans made me angry because yes it took away the significants of blank points. Plus she had no idea what happened to the realm of light when she met Ansem but Mickey just told her, lame. So yes 0.2 did ruin Blank Points in my opinion. Anyways Blank Points was awesome, I felt it was only me who felt this way about this scene. It was awesome watching it the first time and I couldnʻt wait to watch it again when i finished all of BBS Final Mix, making my hard work playing the game pay off. Thanks Dean for the video.

    Blank points is to this day still the best secret cut scene in the franchise so far. with this discussion it just empowered Blank points with so much more possibilities. Final scene might take up an entirely new meaning. 'they are at destiny islands. Riku and Kairi meet up with sora. Sora gets the charm then immediately sets off for his journey.' Heck Riku and potentially Kairi could already be masters at that point.

    Ok, so looking at this again, it would make sense for everything that happened in 0.2. Everyones argument is that it goes against the blank points, when really, in my opinion, it made them even more powerful.
    Aqua has been in the realm of darkness for 10 years, so when Mickey finds her, and tells her about Sora and Riku, it's still significant. Then, two years later, she finds Ansem the wise by the dark ocean, and learns that Sora is still fighting the darkness and saving the worlds. And considering at this point, she might have given up hope, I can see why she would cry. Sora , the little boy she met on those islands long ago, might be the key to saving her, and reuniting her with her lost friends.
    Yes, she asked the question " Is the boys name Terra or Ven?" Because she may had held hope Terra freed himself of Xehanort or Ven had found a way to wake himself.

      Everything in your second half of the comment I agree completely that's what makes the scene great, but that's all stuff without 0.2. In 0.2 all mickey does is tell her Sora has a keyblade so that's no longer a surprise and he's saving the world, definitely puts the scene down for me.

    Well, there are two possibilities that can maintain the feelings for Blank Points in 0.2:
    1) If Mickey NEVER knew the names of Sora and Riku, just Aqua hinting that she knew the two boys 10 years ago from Destiny Islands and only knew that one of them was chosen to wield the Keyblade.
    2) Aqua doesn't remember the names of the two boys in that point, leaving Mickey uninformed and keeping it a secret.
    If they did one of those, it could have been fine.

    This is one of my favorite scenes of the series, too. I didn't play BBS back in 2010, but when I did play it (I think 2013) I nearly cried the moment all of the characters showed up. Because, at this point, I was going through each of the games in the order they released, so when all of these characters showed up and said his name, it was so emotional and so powerful, and I was begging for more after the scene was finished. And Aqua's tear...made the scene so much more powerful. I really dislike how 0.2 kind of makes things weird. Aqua has been gone for years but in the Realm of Darkness's time, it feels like hours. Why would she be so emotional if she already knew that Sora and Riku were helping Mickey save the world and stuff? I wish Mickey would have just said "his friends" instead of "Sora and Riku". That would have made things a lot better, I think.

    The way I interpreted Riku saying 'Sora' is that he had already been saved. And when it comes to the ret con type things in 0.2 I agree it took value from the scene. The only way I can see it still working out is that in the two years since she met Mickey (Sora was asleep for almost a year after CoM which happened after she had seen Mickey, and Ansem the Wise said it must have been at least a year since he met him, as in, it's been at least a year since he disappeared in TWTNW) Aqua kind of lost hope, but it was re-ignited by what Ansem was saying. Does that make sense?
    EDIT: Someone below said that Aqua could have forgotten about Sora due to CoM which makes a lot of sense. She hadn't met him since that one time.

    cutscenes are emotional and mindfucking, while gameplay looks like you're living in disney world beating up kids in costumes with an oversized key.

    I'm so late to this party but what I love about this is that yes, they don't feed us the fact that its Sora, and it is up to us to fill in the blanks. And if you think about it in actual KH terms, we had Sora in our memories from going on the journey with him. He's a part of the players heart. Just like he's a part of everyone elses in the game. I think its so touching to the player. Nomura says memories are what makes a heart and it takes this scene to a whole other level.

    To be honest, in the part where Riku and Kairi call out to Sora, while I think that part of it was well, of course, to call for his attention, another part of me thinks that they decided to implement it that way because Sora DID save both of them as well. Sora basically brought Riku back from the darkness and chased after him for a long time, wanting to save his friend and have him back and he /did/. And with Kairi, like c'mon, Sora literally sacrificed himself just to give Kairi her heart back without any second thought, and he chased after her for a loooong time as well as we all know. While Riku's "Sora" sounds a bit more casual, i definitely think it holds the same impact because he was saved. And when Kairi says Sora, don't you think it'd be awkward to just call the name of the person that is pretty much just besides you and just stare at him and not say anything if it didn't try to hint us something else? I think it's like a little nudge of showing that hey!! He saved her too!!
    So to me, it holds the same impact as the rest, the only difference is that they have been saved.
    Idk if that made any sense lmao, just wanted to drop that here!

    Birth by Sleep was my first Kingdom Hearts game. As Romania sucks balls, a friend from Germany took pitty on me and sent me a PSP and a small library of games. About 15 games or so. And among them was Birth by Sleep. And it's a great game.

    The weird thing is, I had only seen this scene in fragments before. Strange considering I've played almost all the games, but I had never unlocked this scene and had no desire to see it on RUclips till a few years ago. And even then, it wasn't the full scene. I watched it before viewing your analysis, and it still touched me quite a bit. I couldn't skip fully away from my 2017 mindset though and thought of 0.2... but thankfully, I wasn't thinking too hard and it didn't ruin the scene for me.

    Kingdom Hearts 358/2 still has the saddest moment in the series.....Me breaking my DS thanks to Ruler Of The Sky....What did you expect?......Oh yeah and something about X- Shon dying or something I don't know.
    (Also Aqua do you really want to put your faith on a kid who put on a fake Mario mustache and a party hat? Keep in mind kiddos Goofy is the true genius in KH. Final note.... I understand Aqua's since of time is different since she is in realm of darkness but doesn't she need to eat?)

    Riku is deadpool confirmed.
    Also, totally agree with you there. Blank Points can be interpreted many ways, for me Aqua was crying because she was happy that the legacy of the keyblade (at least the version Eraqus believed in) was not truly dead, even if she never escaped, Ventus never woke up, and Terra never regained control. But of course if she had already learned this before, it begs the question, why is it eliciting an emotional response the second time around and not the first? Some people call this nitpicking, but my philosophy is that nits distract me from the larger beauty the scalp has to offer, and that does matter.

    The Kingdom Hearts 1 theme song is enough to bring me to tears. Granted that isn't so much about the game's contents so much as because my late wife gave me a PS2 and a copy of Kingdom Hearts as a gift for our first x-mas together.

    I have to disagree with your final points. I don’t think the surprise factor of hearing Sora’s name is what made Aqua shed that tear, but that hearing Sora’s name reminded her to keep holding on to the hope that she could be saved. How much time passed between her adventures with Mickey in 0.2 and her meeting with Ansem in Blank Points? She’s been wandering the world of darkness alone for so long it’s definitrly starting to chip away at her resolve. We now even know the results of all that time alone 😭😭😭😭

    CLOSE to tears? Man I fully shed tears for this magnificent scene. Not only did it link BBS to the ending of KH2 and give the feeling that the incredibly bittersweet ending of BBS would be resolved happily in the future, it also revealed the profound impact Aqua, Ventus, and Terra had to the main timeline of the series especially in how Sora sates he is who he is because they sacrificed themselves for him. Definitely my favorite scene in regards to the entire KH franchise.

    This makes me kinda dissappointed slightly that 0.2 kind of cheapens this scene. It's still good, but I think this scene holds a bit more weight when you disregard 0.2

    • @Dreq458
      @Dreq458 7 лет назад +1

      ExcalGD how does it cheapen it? like, at all?

    • @WhiteExcal
      @WhiteExcal 7 лет назад +9

      It's nothing drastic. It's the point where Mickey tells Aqua about Sora and Riku's assistance. I do think it cheapens the scene where Aqua cries when she learns of Sora's deeds a little bit. It dosen't ruin the scene for me like some others though. And you can make the case that Aqua learns Sora's being a savior instead of just a helper. I think that Aqua crying holds more impact before 0.2.

    • @masterventus100
      @masterventus100 7 лет назад +13

      think of it like this.

    • @WhiteExcal
      @WhiteExcal 7 лет назад +2

      You could also think about it like that. But I still feel that pre-0.2 Blank Points was more impactful.

    • @masterventus100
      @masterventus100 7 лет назад +2

      ExcalGD thats fine if 0.2 wasn't impactful . I just think in my opinion that people saying that 0.2 doesn't need to exist bc it ruins blank points is stupid
