Great Vid!!.... Is the shuttle from the hotel worth it if they drop you so far from the start area? Hospitality tent defo especially weather dependant!
Thank you! Yes, I think the shuttles are worth it. The hotel is some distance away from the nearest train station so that, together with having the peace of mind that transport is already arranged by the hotel to a place that is closer to the start line, makes the shuttle worth it. Colin took a different shuttle that dropped him much closer to the start line, so it is also dependent on how knowledgeable the driver is. The hospitality tent is incredible value for what you get!
No! Chicago is a very good marathon - I have done it twice - but it is NOT the best marathon in the world. The BEST marathon in the world is the New York City Marathon, also one of the World Marathon Majors. The spectators in NYC are much MORE than in Chicago, and the course is fabulous in NYC - five boroughs, five bridges, and a finish in iconic Central Park. Chicago is good - NYC is the best!
The atmosphere in New York is electric! I also did it back in 2017. I found the course way tougher than Chicago, particularly with getting to the start, the bridge crossings and the condition of the roads (potholes).
@@dchfoong I agree with ALL that you said. Yes, every runner I know feels the NYC Marathon is tougher than Chicago. The only real hill in Chicago is the small one around the halfway point and the larger hill on Roosevelt Street at Mile 26, just before the left turn to the finish. The NYC Marathon is nothing but hills! Yes, the bridges are tough - but I love the bridges. I even run on them during normal training runs during the year. The hills in Central Park hurt also, especially after a full marathon but even in our local 10K races. But you're right - NYC is "electric." I hope you can come back someday and do it again.
