My parents married in 1947 at a time when husbands didn't help out with the cooking or cleaning but I was very blessed as my Dad helped out around the house and did all the mowing and gardening. He cooked but my mother told me once that he was a horrible cook but she never told him that so instead since they both worked in the late 40's and onward he would take her out to eat a few times a month so she could dress up and relax.

Also, he is lazy, expecting his wife to do everthing, taking care of her mother, plus cook his meals, laundry and cleaning. He does not try to help at home at all, but what do you expect considering how rude and nasty the husband's parents are.

Back in those days, a lot of people had kids at 16. Life expectancy was lower, people had kids younger. Looks like someone needs to check their facts before commenting. Even today people have kids at 16. Heck in 1998 there were headlines because Sean Stewart was just 11 when he had s*x with his 15-year-old next-door neighbour Emma Webster. Nine months later he was given the day off school to be present when his son Ben Louis was born on January 20, 1998 - just a month after Sean's 12th birthday.

No, really, it’s her mom. They will eventually take care of his parents as well. That’s what real family does.
My family has been through this. You don’t want your parents to have to spend their last days away from home.
The thing is, in this situation, I was married to Scott’s family.
    Not Scott, but his family.
My husband and our children and grandchildren were the ones who took the time to spend with his mom. My son and daughter in law were the ones to move in with her to keep her from losing her home and moving into a home.
He they not stayed the two and a half years until she passed away, cooked for her, cleaned for her. Got up two or three times at night with her. My daughter in law potty trained three children while there. Then, right back into changing diapers. But this time she volunteered to do it. Asking no pay, doing it only in love.
From the very beginning my husband’s sister had wanted to put her in a home and have someone else take care of her so she didn’t have to deal with the decline in health.
Yet after all the push to get her in the nursing home, stating, “ she has made me he power of Attorney, so I have the final say as to where she goes.”
I made the comment in front of their mother, knowing what was going to happen after I did, “mom, if you had the choice of staying here and having someone stay here and take care of you or go to a live in facility which would mean the payments would eventually mean you lose the house you and Addie bought together because of the cost. What do you want to do.
She said, I’m staying right here! Who wants to put me in a home that will make me loose my home.
I just told her she needed to talk to her Power of Attorney about that. She then looked at me and said, who? Then saying her daughter’s name, she looked at my husband and sister in law. She just shook her head, looked at my son and asked him if he was going to still move in with her until she didn’t need him anymore. He just smiled at her and said anything for you mawmaw.
For two and a half years they kept her safe.
Now she has passed, the sister in law has made the comment that, they stayed there and mooched off of her. The thing is, when they moved in with 5 children, there was more food in that house than there has been since my kids were kids. My son actually cooks. My sister in law was bringing her frozen meals that were easy to fix when she came to spend whatever assigned two hours she gave herself. It wasn’t like she offered to come cook for her but would come every other Sunday morning and evening so my son and his family could attend church. And alternately Wednesdays so they could attend Midweek service.
After the passing, no thank you, but only the statement about mooching.
They paid the difference in any of the utilities.
His sister had internet installed so she could have it before anything happened.
Now, they want to buy his grandmas home, which is split between my husband and his sister,
The house is rundown and is barely worth the tax value.
His sister wants to hike the price up higher than what it would be worth after all repairs were done. She is trying to force him to believe he has no other choice but to make an offer or move out.
I thought these stories were made up. People are not really this ruthless. People are basically good.
Right now my heart is torn up for the family in the story I have been listening to.
My heart is broken for my son and the situation his family has been in. Prayers please.
