Etsy Handmade Policy 2024 - Etsy Seller News & POD Seller Tips

Etsy is planning to continue efforts to enforce the handmade policy in 2024 and also further define categories in the policy. I review the announcement they posted and also talk about why making your designs and mockups different than the competition can help your POD Shop in two ways.

If there is a sweep of similar mock-ups that could be a real problem for printify generated mockups for items you really can’t shoot or make yourself like backpacks, some of the home decor etc

Yup, I agree. Legitimate print on demand listings would likely have significant impacts if they increase efforts to use product images as an indicator of finished/generic products. At the very least, in the Q1 investor update the Etsy CEO mentioned using "quality of photography" when determining which listings to "elevate" in search results. If they have the technology to read images for gauging listing quality, it also means they have the ability to read images when looking for potential removals. Hopefully it doesn't become an issue but I'm more curious to see what their handmade policy "categories" are going to be.

The star seller is absolutely not connected to shops not violating policies I see a ton of it.
