Thank you for the straightforward clarification! There have been other RUclipsrs saying we need to purchase samples and take own photos for the personalized thumbnails. I was freaking out! 😅

Glad it was helpful! Etsy even used an image of a personalized print on demand t-shirt that was clearly a mockup image in their "acceptable" examples, so they definitely are ok with that. The key is not using the "your text here" type mockup according to the policy.

Excellent Info - Thank you. However still confusing. Another RUclipsr states that you need to select "I Did" for who made this then select the Production Partner. He adamantly states this because this information was given to him directly from Etsy CS.

Finally, someone telling us not to worry so much, instead of trying to terrify us about all this. Thank you.

Thank you for the clarification. What about designs we purchase from other sellers that say commercial use allowed? A lot of POD sellers including myself do this. I tried asking Etsy and they said it should be fine but I just need a clear answer as I don't want to take risks.

Thanx for the heads-up wit the new policies. I wonder whether these will apply to the new listings form now on or should we modify our old listings? As far as I understand we should list the customizable POD products as "Sourced by" which I checked on my shop shown up as "Designed by" and there are "Your Text or image here" Main photos on some listings. Should we also modify them?

As far as I know Etsy's system is automatically categorizing your listings based on what you put for production partners, etc. for the field that displays on the listing. So if your listing is showing as "designed by" I don't think you have control over that. Since they just implemented it this month, I'm guessing they'll probably work on refining that feature in the coming months.

This is very clear, thanks so much! I've been wanting to try personalization and wonder if you have a video on a review of Hello Custom? Whether you would use it and how simple the process may or may not be?

so can I still use images from creative fabrica for my personalized items?

I think there might be an issue with the location of a production partner.
If a POD partner like Printify has many locations (i.e UK and USA). the actual location of the POD supply will depend on where the customer is located. Specific shipping profiles can be used to restrict the visibilty of listings but ultimately it is down to Prinitify order routing.
Do you anticipate this will be an issue?

Horrible that digging into the unique way we design our products is disguised (by Etsy) as them helping people. I have to choose between telling customers I use Printify so they can go and see all our wholesale costs (unheard of in retail) and telling my competition exactly how I source my POD items by having to list the actual POD company I use, like Swift POD, etc. I put Printify and then clicked where it shows up as “Print on Demand Provider”. As long as that is an option I will use it. I don’t use AI, so am not worried about that but I feel what’s coming next will be for us to tell where we source our graphics and that’s where I will exit the platform. It’s getting so invasive and restrictive.

Could you please tell me if purchasing an enhanced license on Shutterstock and using the images to sell items on Etsy with those images or graphics could cause Etsy to have issues with my store? Even though it is an enhanced license and I am paying to use the image whose license allows me to sell it?

When they want to know what address your POD will ship from, what is acceptable when you know it could ship from one of many addresses depending on where the customer being shipped to, is located?

Are you sure that "Another company or person" is the right setting in the listing form for PoD? That sounds for me that we don't have any hand in the production at all which is not the case as we are creating the designs on our own. I send you a video (via contact form) where Jay Da Souza" kind of proofted that it needs to be "I did", he clarified it with the Etsy support. Unfortunately I cannot post the linke here as it seems

Printify suggests "another company or person" in their help content: help.printify.com/hc/en-us/articles/4578896595345-What-should-I-keep-in-mind-when-selling-on-Etsy
All my listings are set to "another company or person" and the new category field on my listings correctly shows "designed by" as I showed in the video.

@@PODinsights Thank you for your answer! It's a pitty that Etsy didn't clarify that yet. When I select "I did" and add a production partner, then my listings also show "designed by". Furthermore when I select "I did" then I have some additional options to select options in "How does your shop produce this item?" where I now put "It's an item that my shop alters" and I can also select tools that helped my create an item, such as AI. When I select "Another company or person", I have none of this options. This makes me think that "I did" is the better option but I will also try to clarify with Etsy support on my own now.

Agreed still confusing this is the RUclipsr & video I was referring to in the above comment. My thought is that either is ok. "I Did" = You made the design + you identify the PP. "Another Company" in your PP profile you indicate that "you create the design.

Yes Cassie Johnson also states to put ‘I Did’ when asked in the listing who made it.. I’m a bit confused now too, did that change?
