I would love to see Rasputin, the unkillable man, vs Anubis, the God of the Dead. I think that one is my current favorite matchup prediction, behind maybe Odin and Nostradamus, two beings who have been blessed with visions.

These are the matchups and a quick reason.
Rasputin vs. Loki: Both are tricksters, Loki being a god of mischief and Rasputin tricking the entire Russian royal family for acting like a Saint (he actually wasn't so he can sleep with the Tsar's wife).
Simo vs. Anubis: Anubis being the God of Death in Egyptian mythology, while Simo is the white death for killing over 500 soviet soldiers in the winter war (kill another few hundred more with his SMG side arm)
I heard Leonidas vs. Odin: Both great kings of their lands and showed great power to their loyal subjects.
Nostradamus vs. Apollo: Apollo is the God of music and poetry, Nostradamus is both a seer and astrologer but written 942 poems of future events.
Sakata vs. Siegfried (if siegfried betrays humanity). Both equally strong and pretty much the greatest heroes from their respective cultures.

IMO it doesn't make sense that a human fighter could betray humanity. For starters the fusion between Valkyrie and human would dissolve, leaving said human weaponless and secondly and most important the gods are too prideful to even consider a human fighting on their side. So even if that human fighter wanted to betray humanity and he could somehow get a divine weapon, the gods would probably tell him to piss off

Loki kind of seems like a Joker for the Gods. Considering his transformation ability in which he tried to troll Odin and Zeus. So my prediction would be Nostradamus vs Loki.

That's right. Leonidas was the warrior king of Sparta. I wonder how Huang will react seeing another king in action.
Even since Qin was revealed to be the representative for "humanity's greatest king" I wonder what Leonidas will be representative for. Lu Bu was said to be the strongest warrior as well, so what I can think of is that he may represent humanity's last stand aginst the Gods, mirroring his heroic last stand against the Persian invasion. So I imagine Leonidas fighting on round 12 on a 6-5 losing score for Humanity, and his fight being the last chance for Humanity to keep fighting on.

In a monarchy an emperor and king are both rulers, but the power associated with them is different. They can be compared to regional manager and the CEO of a company. An empire can have many kingdoms within it; the emperor rules the entire empire while kings rule a single kingdom. So it could be argued King Leonidas could still technically wear the mantle of "humanity's greatest king", in that, he ruled just as well as Qin or better, just on a smaller scale.
I would bet that the last decicive fight will be held between Odin on one side and Siegfried with Brunhilde herself as his Volunder on the other side. Odin is carefully being prepared in the story as the most powerfull being while Buddha called Siegfrieds name out as the one who will shake this tournament up. Siegfrieds Volunder can be only Brunhillde since they were in love in legends and they died because of this love.

Nice theory but sieg isn’t in the list, i don’t expect them to add 15 rounds. But if you look closely there were originally only 12 names on the God side. Those ended up being filled with Hades and who i assume to be Siegfried. And that’s how he’ll shake up ragnarok

Note, Okita Souji is known as the strongest of the Shinsengumi, in real life and in Requiem. Furthermore, Okita is not only favored by the author for Requiem, but will likely be favored due to Okita being a historical hero in Japan.
i personally think Okita will win his match, he's like the author's golden child, it was even mentioned in requiem before his death how he despise and cursed the Gods for giving him disease and render him useless despite of his talent in swordmanship.

Siegfried will be the trump card in the last fight with Brunhillde as his Volunder (they were lovers once) Brunhillde as the most important Valkiry saves herself for the last fight. They will both face Odin IMHO

Don't let his appearance fool you. Soji was the captain of the shinsegumis first squad back when he was still alive. If he's as good as his Gintama counterpart Okita Sogo, you know full well how brutal and heartless he can be.
Nostradamus vs Odin why, because nostradamus is a joker and a joker is stronger than an ace besides nostradamus destroyed bifrost. Leonidas was killed by ordinary people so how is he supposed to win against Odin.
Nostradamus was a man who was able to come out of hell at any time even if he had to kill the gods, so he could kill Hades and Beelzebub at any time. The order in which he pronounces their names can also refer to power, so Nostradamus is stronger than Leonidas.

Honestly, i think Odin's crazy expression is him literally pumped for his turn to fight, like imagine being listed to fight in what you expect with be a one sided slaughter taking mere seconds then seeing humans doing actually pretty damn good and then later you just had to interrupt a group fight, like man must be crazy excited at the prospect of just who he might get to face and what kind of thrilling fight they might give him.
I would imagine this to be an extremely one sided round. I feel sorry for the poor bastard, unless it’s Leonidas, that has to fight Odin, he seems stronger than Zeus.

Well, it seems you are not familiar with Journey to the West. Both Wukong and Tang Priest become Buddhas in the end of their story.

Wukong isn’t an actual god. He is based off actual gods but himself is a literary character. In the Chinese mythological pantheon, he doesn’t even exist. He’s basically Percy Jackson. No one prays to Percy Jackson do they? Because Percy Jackson isn’t a canonical diety, he is a literary character.

Im going to try and predict the matchups in Record of Ragnarok:
Starting off i think we're going to have Simo vs Apollo, which is where we're going to get the next adjusted arena so we can have a proper sniper battle between the 2. then i think we're going to have Susano vs Okito Souji,not only because they're both Swordsmen but because I think this is the first fight were a character is going to fight a God he likely worshipped so that's definitely an interesting interaction. Then Nostradamus vs Loki as a Battle of Tricksters (also great potential for a modified arena). Leonidas will fight Odin in a battle of spearmen , Anubis will fight Rasputin. Kintoki will fight an additional fighter

I completely agree with what you wrote, I think it will be like this in my mind etc. As for Kintoki, I have 3 people in mind; 1- Aphrodite may come, she was normally on the original list, maybe the writers can put her in this war. 2- There is a possibility that Adamas will join the war, but I don't think so. In my mind, Adamas could cooperate with Odin and kill Zeus because he was very angry against Zeus, who started the defeated Ragnarok tournament and Poseidon and Hades after my death, Zeus was very Hatred. 3- I think a God will come from outside and I think Baldur might be the best person for Kintoki. Kintoki is someone like Tarzan who already lives in the Jungle, if Kintoki's Weapon has a Mistletoe style Volund, it's definitely Baldur

I actually think he's going to lose as well. Just a theory from my side, but I think Odin's plot is to overthrow Zeus by sowing doubt in Greek gods. This will be further shown if Apollo lose, he'd probably go "oo look greek gods are dumb dumbs time for a coup d'e tat"

@@ionutmoldoveanu7195 I believe it is a hail mary plan by Odin to get his way by weakening the other pantheons by possibly fixing the fights (Norse legend he has knowledge of everything and the god of foresight’s head by him) so he knows possibly who is fighting who so he sets his fellow Norse against easy counters while advising Zeus to send the Greek gods against death flags. While I believe he’s setting up for potentially to avoid his death in ragnarok. Like how he sent his son Thor against Lu Bu who doesn’t represent the world serpent in order to keep him alive.

One thing i see differently is, if that would be the case, i'm not sure his foresight allows him to see his own death, and that it's still prone to happen, though definetely with a ton of buildup, I see it almost as a fight of foresight between him and Nostradamus, like to see whose foresight beats the others. And maybe even some Avengers End Game type of stuff, like when Doctor Strange chose the 1 future in a million that was in the favor of humanity, even though it meant great sacrifice in the process.
My theory on Nostradamus.
He's not a fighter. He's the Joker because he's helping arrange the fights, deciding which fighters go up for the Humans, through his foresight. His choices give the best fights to the Gods, which, in the end of the story, help them decide to not destroy the humans as a group.
I think Gaia vs Leonidas would be the best fight for the final bonus round (Buddha didn't use a valkyrie, and I don't think she was just not fighting). Gaia is the epitome of a planet that humanity has neglected, so of all the gods she has the most reason to attend Ragnarok. Leonidas, on the other hand, is known for fighting to the end with his soldiers, even if they cannot win. His weapon would be Goll in the form of a shield, because I'm counting on Brunhild to send herself before her sister. In any case, the duel could be that Gaia would constantly create giants, and the king of Sparta would fight them with the strength of anyone who pledged allegiance to him. At the climax, this would lead to a situation in which a man would wield the strength of all humanity and with this strength he would defeat the ancestor of the Greek paneon. Silly, but it has epic symbolism to it.
i feel like in this case no... primal gods are on another level for a reason pretty wont fight... because if they are wont die like gods do... so in this case if you kill gaia also kill the planet tech... tho end well.. so if gaia fight the final match shem ostly win.. but tells gods give them a chance... so idk if do something like that then feel make more sense

I think the human traitor would be lazy, it would just mirror the gods. The problem is, with buddha's betrayal, the gods are one member short (Hades filled that spot) and the humans are one too many. This would also be solved by having a god fight two humans or a god fighting again. In particular, wouldn't it be wild if Zeus fought Nostradamus? I know he's heavily pitched against Odin, but Nostradamus could easily be Adam's second coming: nostrADAMus

I am not sure about Siegfried betraying humanity because nothing in his legend even indicates a relationship with gods for him to switch sides like that. I think it's more likely that Leonidas would betray considering his close connection with the Greek gods and especially because he has ancestry with Hercules, who fought and died on Gods side.
I think Simo and Odin would be a good match up, They're both Warriors of the Winter, so the map could take some place of Midgard or around the snowy regions of the Finnish Land of where Simo's war took place
Considering he's a sniper facing Apollo probably more appropriate
That should be a "who is the better shooter" contest thats why I would say, Simo will go against a deity specialised in shooting... like Diana for example.
I would think Simo would fight Apollo (the god of archery). Wouldn't it make sense for the only two long range users to fight?

When I saw the list for the gods I was quite surprised they didn't have more powerhouses like Ra, Quetzalcoatl, Izanami or Izangi, and Tiamat. I felt as those would've been cooler and more interesting to see be developed since I know nothing about them aside they are the strongest in their pantheon correct me if I'm wrong but that's my opinion.
Well realistically when you think about it gods win quiet easily unless it was gods against Demi gods. I think the reason though is they already had a lot and the back lash from most of them was too bad to do any more of the famous ones hence sticking mainly with Asian and western visions. Rest of the world already pretty much shunned the anime so I’d say it’s to save face (what’s left atleast) and make it more interesting in the fights even though it already is unrealistic

The way I see it is because Siegfried and Sigurd are essentially one and the same. The same legend told by 2 different cultures, there will be some interaction between Brunhildr and Siegfried/Sigurd, perhaps some teasing or insight into the legend with a bit of revenge plot and that's where Brun offers herself as a weapon for that fight.
That is if Siegfried actually makes an appearance.
Also just want to throw in there that Sakata Kintoki is half oni/japanese demon, that is why he has the appearance of something no quite human.
If I’m not mistaken Siegfried or at the very least Sigurd is partially responsible for the death of Brynhildr. So that can be interesting.
Record of Ragnarok is my second favorite manga ever.
Edit: Hades was the God who joined Ragnarok after Buddha's betrayal and they have to have an odd number of fighters or else, the tournament will not work because it could end in a tie (7 wins for each side) meaning everything was for nothing (unless they have some kind of tiebreaker), So I think one of the Humans will have to drop out.
Actually it ending up in a tie would be a great ending.
with the Gods and Humans coming to an agreement of Fights OR an All out ending fight.

They should have Siegried vs Achilles. They're both invincible warriors with one weak spot, Siegfried's back being his equivalent to Achilles' heel. He is Brunhilde's lover in the myths, soshe could be his weapon. They already mentioned Achilles achieving godhood in Hercules' backstory, so it makes sense in canon for this match-up to happen. This would be beyond hype!
I know Record of Ragnarok plays fast and loose with mythology but Siegfried's whole thing aside from the dragon slaying was rescuing Brunhildr. Just saying, don't think the manga will make him do that much of an 180.
Didn't Brunhildr end up killing him though in the end? So maybe it will be a sort of mind control thing where Brunhildr will end up having to kill him.

I mean everything other than Asian and western culture mythology/history is far from the source material and 180 already so don’t be surprised if it’s different. Target audience are those two groups so whatever they think their audience would like. If they wanted to be accurate the show wouldn’t of been entertaining (humans lose every fight) (shiva just erasing the whole universe everything but the gods I would guess and making a new one because of the disrespect from the whole ragnoraok idea brumhilde brought up anyways). Not really a show about the actual gods and humans from their source story, just the ones their target audience likes and confident Siegfried won’t be up there since it’s neither western or Asian related

I guess Odin would straight off betraying the gods, and volundr with Brunhilde (Norse gods shows hint that they sides with humans or at least being neutral) just as they are theorized. That must be very op, but who will he fought? Surtur! Of course, the very symbol of Ragnarok could have been the very conclusion of the tournaments, he's basically the final boss of mythological Ragnarok, maybe he is in here, too, the final boss. So, the match I think it will goes like:
- Apollo vs Simo Hayha
- Susanoo vs Soji Okita
- Anubis vs Kintoki
- Loki vs Nostradamus
- Surtur vs Odin (this is one match I would like to see)
Soooo, rather we could have the soul of Surtur inside Nostradamus? I could see that as feasible since Nos somehow destroyed the Bifrost. We don’t know what his insane power is or how he got it
@@ComradeConCarne well, that's a good plot but maybe, he will betray the humanity until reverting back once Surtur came out like Zerofuku and Hajun's case, and in the end, Odin, Brunhilde and Nostradamus fights off against Surtur to the very last stand for humanity (symbolizing a god, a demigod and a human fighting off against radical destruction bringer), but that'll be sad :(

If someone is interested in this, Okita soji, his design and personality cames from a manga wrote from one of shuumatsu mangakas, I don't remember well the name, but pretty sure you will find it easily, in this is the past of Okita and some of his techniques, but is not a spin off, actually this manga is older than shuumatsu.

Dude the gods aren't missing a fighter if you rer read the chapters you will see the hades wasn't originally a fighter he was there substitute since Buddha betrayed the gods
