Just because it was replaced doesn't mean it didn't work, for example in Poland where I live it people were pretty poor but we had crazy good industralization and housing that we don't have today, all that was made through loans from other countries. It had its pros and cons

Actually life was pretty good in Jugoslavia under Tito and URSS under Lenin did a social, cultural and economic evolution that’s is quite impressive
