Guillaume Néry dives at -125m

- In september 2013, during the mini competition right before the Individual World Championship, Guillaume Néry did a dive at -125m on a single breath of air. The dive was 3'30" long (2'00 to get down - 1'30" to come up). The competition was organized in the bay of Kalamata - Greece. This dive is the second deepest dive in freediving history (in the unassisted disciplines). Guillaume is now 3 meters from the world records.
Guillaume is a french freediver born in 1982, living in Nice - France. He broke the World Record 4 times (2002: 87m, 2004: 96m, 2006: 109m, 2008: 113m) and won 2 World Champion titles (2008 in Egypt at the Team World Championship - 2011 in Greece at the Individual World Championship).

I loved the Big Blue ever since and the guy who played Jacques Mayol did his dives with a weight and with a balloon to reach back surface. What you have achieved "swimming like a dolphin" is just unbelievable. A hero you are. The new dolphin man!!!!

Highly Favored all depends mate ... they can use a balloon 🎈 but we call that no limits and to go deeper they use a weight and on that video it’s totally different... I come from the same place as Guillaume and I used to dive with him at its beginning ( he was already amazing)

bravo pour votre exploit (impressionnant ! ) je vous ai découvert grâce au clip de Naugty Boy, et de ce fait j'ai recherché des vidéos sur vous; celle ci va me permettre d'illustrer mon cours sur les nombres négatifs pour mes élèves de 5ème alors encore une fois merci ! c'est rare de pourvoir leur concrétiser la nécessité de tels nombres! vous en être une preuve vivante !

It says ATTEMPTS to dive 125 meters (which is about 410 feet deep, so did he really go that deep? It appears so, but it didn't show him stopping on the way up -- how did he avert the bends?I think I remember about a woman who dived on a cable, about 500' deep quite a few years ago, but I don't remember for sure. By 100 meters (330 feet), only about half the surface light is available , depending on the viz, but it's pretty dark! Incredible feat if he really did it! I know the colder the water, the better chance you have of less CO2 building up in your system. He probably hyperventilated before he went down, and I imagine his lung capacity is larger than a normal person. Anyway, CONGRATS to him, good luck and be careful -- you don't need to prove anything by going any deeper! (I know there was one man who dived very deep, came up, then collapsed and died.) It's not worth the chance of dying, just for a record!
M.J. Leger you’re talking about scuba diving, which is completely different. He held his breath the entire dive. He doesn’t have to stop before coming back to surface because he does not breathe and therefore very little chance off getting decompression sickness.

Edited. I’m a freediver and the average is a meter per second. If he dove for 125m, it should have taken around 125 seconds

Holding your breath for 3m30s... easy. Swimming 250m, easy... conquering water pressure, fear of drowning and pain while doing all of the above? Guillaume's a god!
Overfloable, you forgot nitrogen narcosis. At 410 feet, he would be drunk as hell. I would not say that he is a god but I would say that he has got a bunch of angels hanging around.
