Very cool. The Tape Project has several great tapes for these.

Great tutorial...I have an Ampex ATR 102 & I'm thinking of getting an external remote for it but I'm not sure how to hook it up. Does it plug into a card or a pre existing plug in

I wonder can it be adjusted to use VHS tapes? Cause SM900 is too expensive.
That was a joke about VHS on $17k rig. But it seems its headblock is only an available option for hobbyists who'd like to build a 1/2" machine from scratch. And ATR-104 of course

Some Years Ago Almost 15 to 20 years Ago Me & A Friend went to A Recording Studio in San Jose California and It Was Called Tiki Recording Productions and I Got A Used Ampex AG440 4 Track Reel to Reel Master Recorder about $450 Dollars Made in 1967 and Then I Heard A Ampex ATR 102 Reel to Reel Tape Machine and The Owner of The Recording Studio Played A Master Tape Recorded at 30ips and That Tape Machine Sounded Awesome
and We Went to Another Recording Studio With Another Friend and I Heard A Ampex 2 inch 16 track MM1000 and Played A Tape That Was Recorded at Ether 15 or 30 ips and it was So beefy Sounded and the Funny Thing is the Tape Deck Uses the Same Electronics as the Ampex AG44 Tape Machines***
