I prefer him to booooring Anne. I was pleasantly surprised when I took a holiday to the West Country, years ago when I was little my area of the country (Kent) was one of the only areas to have Anne and she was kinda unique and now nearly everywhere you go they have the same. 😁
Yep, she is certainly widespread now. I think she was first used from 2002 on the railway network. Didn’t Kent used to have Pauline Cavilla and Roger on a DITRA system before Anne took over?
@@Parallel395 ooh I can’t remember. I’m only 16 and first travelled on long distance trains when I was about 7 so I don’t remember sorry. I know some stations such as faversham and Canterbury east have “Mike” for some services toward Dover - I believe that’s his name anyway (the one at London Bridge)
Hi - Thank you for these amazing recordings. I was wondering if I could sample some of them for a musical project? I would of course credit you and link to your channel. Thanks again
Tom Beresford Rodger is not my favourite announcer but I’d agree he sounds much better on GWR. The mix of the speed increase and the newly recorded stuff on SWR makes him sound disjointed.
@@samuelwhite92 And? It’s not like they had to change anything on the script that he was saying. They should have just kept it exactly how it was. After all, it would have been a great way to keep his legacy alive! Instead, now he’s just going to be a forgotten soul as if he never existed!
You can tell that the 17:57 Cross Country was a HST as the announcements said 7 coaches.

I can hear a slight bit of Anne on Platform 1 in the background during the announcement for the 17:37 Great Western Railway train to Westbury.
13:08, what an announcement, the GWR Service too....

Go for it :)
The last announcement is the 18:07 to Weymouth isn’t it?
Yup!
12:33 I guess that’s my train
What do use for this? It’s Atos isn’t it? Is it free?
Just by going to stations and recording the announcements
Hope GWR never make Rodger like the SWR one.....

I don’t get why they even replaced Phil and Celia on the SWR network with Anne and Rodger. Phil especially was natural and clear!
