Hello Sarah & Andrew, that was an excellent point by point review. Can't 'believe the owners are keeping the place open & charging full price, with all those 'out of order' facilities. It seems an added insult to expect customers to then have to undergo a cold shower at the end of the spa experience as the boiler's broken! It wouldn't cost that much to fix it...seems like the owners are not too bothered. It also seems bizarre in this day & age of hygiene concern (not long post pandemic) that the towel storage/identification is so casual. That spa is not for me, but a lovely entertaining informative video :)
I really appreciate your review. We ALMOST took the trip there. After reading trip advisor reviews, they perfectly aligned with yours. Thank you for the fair and honest review. And saving us a trip to bath, as we visit from America
I have heard negative comments. It has been on my to do list when I visit Bath next couple of weeks but seen this has firmly put me off. But as I had said I had already heard negative reports, I think this is a very honest review
My friends and i wanted a swim last year and the local pool required a membership so we found this. It was amazing! and loved it so much so that we are going back again in the next few days. I will say when we went the only thinga that where not working where the lockers
I always enjoy your videos and look forward to them. I went to the baths a few years ago on a frosty January evening. I remember being disappointed with the whole changing room issue. I was expecting it to be more spa like but it was more like being at a municipal swimming pool. The experience in the rooftop pool made up for my disappointment. It was magical. Floating in the warm water under the stars with the abbey lit up. Fabulous. Getting out on a freezing night wasn’t easy and those robes cling when wet. We had to use the stairs so the lifts must have been broken. A one off experience. I loved the pool but nothing else.
Such a good review. I definitely agree with you Sarah about the swimming costume I wouldn't have liked that either. And it is expensive. Yes, swimming roman type bath but I fully agree with Sarah everything should be working for that price. Such an honest non biased review on everything. I really enjoyed this video. Keep it up! You Two!
This was a fun Sunday surprise video. Very interesting information. It doesn't seem that they are very customer focused and that is a shame. There are many other things I would like to do in Bath. This wouldn't be on my list. Thanks for the undercover work.
Well that was a surprise for a Sunday evening. A very good rounded report - certainly unbiased - would I pay £41? No - the cold shower at the end would spoil the experience for me. I also think if your price structure includes the items that are out of order or broken you are taking money under false pretence’s. However I enjoyed the video -you certainly had a love time in Bath - it is a lovely City and it was nice to experience your week end break with you. Thank you
Hello! Thank you for this review. I almost booked this in 2019 but after reading Trip Advisor I decided on the Gainsborough Hotel’s spa day. It’s expensive at £200 and there’s no rooftop pool-but it does include a lot. 4 hours of time at the spa, a massage or facial, three thermal pools with the actual Bath thermal spring water (the only place you can bathe in the water other than the Thermae Bath spa), steam and sauna, and lovely afternoon tea. Everything was in order, hot showers (of course!!) and clean as a whistle. I had a lovely relaxing time. So if you want to really treat yourself, try the Gainsborough! Love your videos! Thank you
Yes I have been before, a few times for birthday treats. It is expensive, but a fabulous experience. For what they charge you would expect them to get things fixed quickly. Given that it's the only naturally hot spa in Britain (comes out at 42C and has to be cooled down) and is full of minerals that leave your skin silky soft with no need for moisturisers, I'd definitely go again 😊
Hi Sarah and Andrew! What a great surprise here I am on holiday in Amman, Jordan and didn't expect anything from you today. Thank yøu for the review! I have been to Bath but didn't have time then to visit this place. I'd be very interested to visit if they repair everything, but I think it is a bit overpriced for only 2 hours even if everything is in order. Thank you! Torunn 🥰
Hi Sarah and Andrew, that was really interesting... I think it's a nice thing to do for a special occasion at that price... which is probably why you might get the "heavy petting" 😉😂. It's such a shame that the upkeep has slipped ... What does it take to repair a locker 🤷.. I wonder if the pandemic had a detrimental effect on how it was run after. I feel quite a lot of places have gone down hill since brexit and the pandemic...it's such a shame. They make it look so amazing on the advert... which it would be if it was that empty and everything worked 😏. Anyway, it was good to hear your experience and your visits are always interesting and useful... thanks so much 😁🙏💖.... think I might stick to my bath 🛀😜
Brilliant review we are off to Bath in April and this was on my list but going to cross off now as sounds too busy and too expensive! plenty of other things to do
You done your best. Hidden cameras is the way forward. I dont think i will be visiting rather jump in the sea off the Cornish Coast. For free. Or paddle on my kayak padstow estuary is lovely 😍 Kev the brinklow kayaker
Thanks for the revue. Passed it last New Year when it was shut. It sounds like they are not customer focused. I would want to be pampered for that sirt if money. Also, it is not very relaxing to be timed. What happens if you take longer than two hours? Especially since their locker and lift failures obviously waisted some of that time for their guests. As fir the cold showers!
I wonder if they don't allow phones/ cameras so you can't record any of it. I certainly would'nt go. Think the pricing is outrageous. Thanks for the great vlog. X
To make up for the lack of action shots in the pool next time you are out can you find one of those boards, you know the things with man and woman in full victorian swimming costumes with holes to stick your head through and take a picture. Until then thanks and a great video as usual.
Fair review, I thought, considering all the problems. At least you'll only have to save £41 for next time Andrew. Sarah can enjoy herself somewhere else. 😆
cashing in on the uniqueness of the attraction but not bothered about repeat business - full price when so much out of order is...well...out of order! I cant abide being cold so the shower at then end would be enough for me to swerve it - I prefer the sea over a pool, the only pool Ive been in in the last 15 years was this year at Bude on Summerleaze 🙂
The Thermae Bath Spa, Bath, is owned by the local authority combination, who have engaged the YTL group to manage & maintain the spa. That's a recipe for high cost.
That explains things, probably always squabbling over whose responsible for fixing what! Definitely looking tired and in need of some investment, Sarah :)
Obviously nothing like that had been built years ago, when I visited, I remember the interior and architecture was amazing, can’t remember if my sister and I found the bathing pools, what you have described and from the comments it sounds most unsavoury, not an experience I would like to try, rather go to the local chippy and soak up that atmosphere for nothing, thanks Andrew for the idea 💡 plus all that electricity does’t sound very echo friendly, I’m with Sarah for that price I would want everything in good working order, so it’s a no from me, i would however love to go with Andrew for a very unique experience…..but he wouldn’t want his grandma hanging on his arm unfortunately…..plus I wouldn’t look great in a bikini 👙 at my age maybe ‘Hot Pants’ and a long vest 😂 from what I’ve seen my score would be one out of five:) but I would give you both ten out of ten for this video, thank you 🙏 for brightening my evening up Sarah and Andrew 🥰🥀🤗
@@CornishWalkingTrails Hi Sarah, the only ‘hot pants’ I had to have was when I applied for a job at a local JET filling station, the owners insisted, after too many wolf whistles I insisted on trousers much to the relief of my new husband 😂🤣😂 wish I looked like that now 😅 Bernice:)
We went to Thermae 2000 in Valkenburg Netherlands. That was so fabulous, so probably wouldn't give the one in Bath a go. B.T.W. Valkenburg Christmas Market is also fab. It is in a massive limestone cave.
I think its unfair to charge full price for facilities that are out of order, and there being so many out of order. It sounds an experience but surely if their amenities are unavailable it doesn't bode well for others wanting to visit, it's going to put people off so they're basically shooting their selves in the foot with their greed! Their annual profits reflect this.
What really got me was the lack of identification on the towels and robes, I came out of the stream room to find my towel and rode gone, there seemed likes hundreds of other towels and robes on the pegs, so what do you do? Take someone else’s , which is unhealthy or walk back down stairs ,in your wet trunks to get a fresh set ! Two other girls found their T&R missing as well, it was all quite embarrassing!
Seems to me, that the various Tripadvisor comments are justified. Price point will always be high, given that Bath is such a tourist destination, but no reason to be smug and let standards slip. Bad news travels fast, and with such poor reviews, the only reason they are still in business is sheer throughput...most people will only visit the once! Bloody shame.
It sounds like a complete nightmare and a bit of a rip off. I don't do pools or spas for the very reason you have described. I've got bad memories of going to the swimming baths at school and the horrible clammy changing rooms. TBH, I'm not really a fan of Bath overall. Thanks for your interesting review.
I hope you didn’t fall ill after your visit like I did. Never had a virus like it. You have to wonder how it can be hygienic for so many people to be bathing in the same water with no chlorine.
I also was poorly on one occasion after going there. Apart from that one time I loved it, and had my pre-wedding night out in the spa followed by dinner in a lovely Georgian building. Moved further away now so havent been for a decade. They do add some chlorine though.
Considering the amount of Profit they made from your research on the Companies House Website and the fact that cameras aren’t allowed says it all - Profit Driven at the expense of Visitors. What a rip off.
Pretty funny, thanks! Looks kinda yucky to me. I do love Bath! As an American, it is all so wondrous. I took a photo of a rather round man in a full period costume on a very hot day, holding up a sign advertising a Jane Austin Tour, I felt sorry for him, but he did look most distinguished.
We were looking to go in the future, but after seeing how they treat customers(typical UK customer service...lousy service with full cost!), we will pass on it! If you have CORPORATIONS running it, who only care about PROFIT, what do you expect???
kind of glad they’re strict with the no phones or cameras policy. I wouldn’t want to have two randos like yourselves shoving a camera in my face for your vlog when I’m trying to relax 😂 filming the staff without their consent also seems weird as hell like you do realise you’re not undercover agents right? 🤣
Well I hate people being strict, especially over cameras! If there's nothing publicly shown in the company's printed policy such as the Terms & Conditions, or signs saying it, then they can't legally enforce it simple as! Secondly there's nothing wrong with people promoting a business when vlogging or doing it for their memories, so these companies who have a no filming & photography rule should be ashamed of themselves. Simples!
3 weeks later and Lift is still out! Just had evening session with Soup n Sharing platter . Apart from having a towel taken from where we left it we enjoyed our time so hopefully they are acting on the bad reviews!
