    awesome advice and wisdom Colin! I sometimes think of it as this: If you have an edge like the casino has an edge, can you ever imagine a casino refusing any more bets because it made too much money? Would they close down the place cause they lost too much money in an hour or day? No, they want as much action as they can get, because over the long haul they will make more money than they payout. Again - thank you Colin for your wisdom.

      That's not true that they think ALL BJ players are value players. If they did, they'd stop offering the game. The truth is that there are VERY few successful card counters playing today. Most people that think they are counting cards....aren't. At least they're not counting them well enough to maintain an advantage over the house and are probably losing MORE than the typical gambler playing hunches and playing without discipline.

    As an ex high stakes blackjack dealer one piece of advise I can give you is to never gamble on Thurs Friday Saturday or Sunday night's. Those are the nights that all amateur and 1st time players play. You want to have a fair chance to win play Monday Tuesday and Wednesday days that semi pro players play.
    I am sure that if you would have played at my table you would leave my table a loser every time. He'll I would even count along with you no matter what system you use.

    Just one question in regards to point one. Are you *always* generating positive EV or are you generating positive EV at positive counts (true or running depending on your system). I would think that if a shoe you're playing never goes positive [enough] you're EV for that shoe is neutral or positive.

    • @Blackjackapprenticeship

      Yeah, you're only generating positive EV during positive counts. My point is that every shoe is an opportunity to generate positive EV. Sorry for the confusion.

    Probably a noob question, but I'm practicing basic strat with the app, and I've noticed there are more times that the app says to surrender than are listed on the basic strat chart on the app. It happens when my hand is two low numbers (I think it's either 2 & 3 or 2 & 4, or maybe happens in both of those instances).
    I guess I'm also unsure in general of what to do if my hand adds up to less than a hard 8. I first assumed you just hit, but I've seen the surrender correction pop up in the app some. Is there another chart on the website that I missed, or is there some rule I should go by regarding low numbers?
    P.S. I know that tables often don't offer surrender, but I was wanting to clear this up to avoid confusion down the road.

    You said to don't overthink heat. I think it's good advice as to not let it affect you in while playing,
    however I think diving deep, and establishing and creating methods to dodge and prolong casino detection & heat can be and is a significant factor for anyone counting

    • @ianandersen265
      @ianandersen265 3 года назад

      They made an updated video about internet casinos. Internet casinos have horrendous rules and poor penetration. They also have software that helps them know if you're counting cards and uses that information to refuse to pay players illegally via their terms of service and offshore location. Richard Munchkin stated that real advantage players don't look for opportunities at online casinos. There are way too many scams out there online.

      @GaryLuKOTH 5 лет назад +1

      Progressive, flat betting and 1-3-2-6 are not winning strategies. In fact, there is no betting system that wins in the long run. Even if you are winning, you are going to start losing eventually. If you want to win, try card counting. There are a lot of tutorials online on how to count cards.

    • @ransombraaten8951

      Would it be best to bet what you can afford? Normally, start at table min and every win add 1 unit

    • @GaryLuKOTH
      @GaryLuKOTH 5 лет назад +1

      Ransom Braaten Well, you should be only betting what you could afford to lose. However, if you want to win in the long run, you should not be betting based on whether or not you are winning. You should be betting based on whether or not the odds are in your favor. Card counting tutorials will teach you how you can tell.

      Got it. Thanks! I've been trying to pick up card counting. Obviously takes practice, but why is the system +1 for low cards and high are negative. what would It do if I reversed. Just something where my brain cant count high cards as negative 1. Is there harm in reversing system or is there a reason it's set up that way?

    What about profit targets, if you exceed your target leave, or play until you hit the minimum target of the day. Or if you’re down leave if your cash entry depletes 50% and don’t buy back in.

      One day isn't long enough to reach the long-run average and be up. In fact if you quit like this before reaching your unusual highs, you can skew the distribution in a way that reduces EV per session. Per hand there's no memory so you can't affect anything, but if you change your number of hands/hours based on results then it can affect your weekly expectation.

    • @chuckschillingvideos
      @chuckschillingvideos 3 года назад +3

      The count is the count. It makes no difference whatsoever how many players are at a table. No actual card counter would say such a thing. The only problem with full tables is that is slows the game down and you see fewer hands.

    I came up with another valid reason to leave. I was playing at Caesar's Palace when it was run by the mob, and I knew that fact. This was before shoes or card shufflers, using a single deck. The dealer shuffled the cards and dealt them.
    I was on a hot streak and was up maybe $200, back when that was real money. All of a sudden the dealer was changed and I started losing. I figured the mob had put in a dealer capable of stacking the deck, so I left. I made sure to keep with other people in well lighted areas when I left. I didn't want to end up broke and naked in the desert.

    They use multiple decks(6) and burn cards unseen between hands. Then they change shoes halfway through. Now it is not possible to count cards to an advantage. Also leave if you are up and the pit changes the dealer. The only way to do 'this'(and other things) is when the games is over relaxed or too busy to follow their own rules. I personally caused a whole casino to retrain all their dealers in 'another game'. The Casino was actually very grateful and never backed me off. My demonstration was also with 'pennies' not 'dimes'. I asked directly and they told me I was not a conspicuous professional who was looking to exploit or take advantage. They then added that 'the eye in the sky' did not complain. A free room and 5 buffet tickets were offered and I politely declined and went home.

    The reality of blackjack is, the house and the player have exactly the same odds. I've played blackjack professionally for a few years, but eventually the casino/home life balance got too one sided, so I chose my family over the casino, so I moved on to other things. So why does the house always seem to win then? The house advantage comes in a couple different forms and on of them is the long game. The house simply has more money than the average person to play with, so while they can afford to lose for 1, 2 or maybe 12 hours straight, you as a player, cannot. The house also plays with a very specific set of rules, of which they don't deviate. The house also brings you "free" alcohol. Why? They want to fuzzy your brain a little to gain an even bigger advantage. I would take their drinks, but I would only get cherry Pepsi's. This way I would have a chance to get up and walk around on my way to the restroom and let my brain relax a little. I would play a progressing betting strategy, where I would double my bet every hand I lost. My goal was to win 1 hand in every shoe, which I would always do. I never played a shoe where I lost every hand dealt from it. The faster the dealer, the more I would make per hour. I've been backed off more times than I can count and one time I was asked to leave as I walked in the front door. Casino's know they cannot beat this type of system, so the only thing they can do is back you off.

    I‘m confused here. If your a AP player it is recommended to put in the hours due to the positive variance in card counting. If you only play perfect basic stratagy you will lose in the long run. But, it doesn’t mean you will deplete your bankroll. Please advise

      Onni Herlevi do you mean side bets? Consider side bets to be an entirely separate “game” that could become beatable in some circumstances. Check out the older video on this channel about the Lucky Ladies sidebet for example. Always know exactly what you’re doing before you play them or you’re just giving the casino money. Check out Wizard or Odds for some good info on existing side bets
