Love my 890, but don't use it as much as I should. Every time I do I refer to your videos. You are a great educator and your camera work is wonderful too. Keep up the good work
I know this video is 2 years old but I just purchased the L890 a few months ago and was shown how to thread it in the store. I’m just now attempting to use it and couldn’t remember what to do. Your video was so thorough! Thank you!!!!!
Great job on the camera work and clear explanation of several stitches on the Bernina L890. I appreciate an educator who has an obvious talent for presenting. Hope you and your store are doing well during the pandemic.
Ditto to all of the overwhelmingly positive comments! I love watching your videos, but this one hit it out of the park for me with the detailed instructions and camera placement. Now I can unbox mine nd get started with some degree of confidence. Thank you Gail❣️
Hi Gail. Man! You really have done a great job explaining the Bernina L890! I thought I wanted this before but now, Holy cow, I really want it. Saving my pennies!
Gayle, your videos always provide clear instructions. You need to work for Bernina International. You provide clearer instruction over several of their educators! Great job!
Thank you. I worked for BERNINA of America for 10 years in the sales and marketing department! Please remember that at BERNINA international they have to make videos suitable for many languages. It’s a delicate balance.
Oh my goodness. I have this machine, I took the live classes at my dealer, which were very good but this video has helped me soooo much! I just didn’t retain the info enough from the live classes. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video!!! This little beauty (L890) came home with me yesterday! I have never touched a serger in my life! Your video is amazing...I will be watching it again and following you step by step!
This is unfathomable. It is so easy to thread. Our customers have had no issues. I’m wondering, are you using guided access? What are you particularly struggling with?
My L890 was delivered today and I found this tutorial very useful, thank you. I noticed that there appeared to be some skipped chain stitches in the seam at 32.10. Why did that happen and how can it be fixed, please?
Many thanks for this video. I'm definitely considering a purchase of the L890. I just want to double-check. Is it correct that I don't need Bluetooth nor WIFI to use the tutorials and smart features on this machine? Although other areas in my home have access to Fiber Optic Internet, my sewing room is an area without connectivity. Would this be a problem for this awesome machine?
There’s a wire that is meant to push the thread through to make a loop. The trick is making sure that you place the thread horizontally in the slit’s on the side. The top of the needle threader has a little line. Start sliding the needle threader down the shaft of the needle until you feel the hole and then gently push.
Hello from Dubai, would like to ask if this new overlook feed is the same as the Bernina MDC13 feed. I plan to upgrade my MDC13 to this new overlook. Thanks in advance ❤🙏.
Gail I know you are a lovely spokeswoman for Bernina and I wanted to ask you your opinion of the Bernina 535 w/o embroidery as a sewing machine. I don't want a finicky machine that spends more time being in the shop than sewing. Thank you in advance.
Well, how can you go wrong with a BERNINA? The B 535 is like a larger version of the B 475. It only has 5.5mm stitch with and no dual feed. However, it is a very easy to use and nice machine.
Gail, my screen is frozen on my brand new L890. I used it for the first time today (after a 2 day class). I have turned it on and off numerous times and it won’t respond, it’s stuck on stitch #6, which is what I was using and added to the folder. Please help if you can. Thank you. (PS: love all your tutorials on this and the 790!!! Love Bernina!
Turn the machine off and then keep your left index finger on the screen while you turn on the machine and keep your left index finger on the screen while the machine boots up. This will take you into the screen calibration screen then follow the crosshairs to reset it.
An overlocker/coverstitch machine is not a sewing machine. The 4-thread overlock stitch takes the place of using a zigzag for overcasting on a sewing machine.
This is not a sewing machine with the auto cutting features one would expect from a sewing machine. So for the coverstitch, auto cutting is not possible. This includes the chain stitch. The machine used air to thread the lower loopers for overlooking and air to thread the coverstitch looper. That is as automated as possible on this overlocker/serger machine. The needles are threaded with the assistance of a needle threading tool.
This is an overlocker machine. It makes a stitch with a spool serving the needle and a spool serving a lower looper. This stitch is called a 2 thread chain stitch. It looks like a straight stitch on the top and a chai like stitch on the bottom.

I’m picking mine up tomorrow! Thank you for all your hard work on these videos so I am more confident that I’ll be ready to use it right away.
I have a new L890, threading is a nightmare. Took the new owners class yesterday at dealer I purchased it from.

Thanks for this video! Truly amazing! I would love to get this machine and if I do I will come back to this video. Karen

Everything is built in. No WiFi or BT necessary.
@@BERNINAofNaperville Thanks for your prompt response. I just purchased the L 890 so look forward to your tutorials.
You make that little needle threader look so easy. I can't figure out how to use it.

The new bernina L 8 series overlocker a are far superior in every way to the 1300. The new sergers have differential feed.
@@BERNINAofNaperville thank you ❤️

A very complex machine despite all the videos
We find it to be sophisticated but very easy to use.
Just use the videos on the machine!!!!presto you r an expert!
Seems complicated
If you tried it, you would love it.
