Brilliant man, brilliant actor. I have been obsessed with ER since it first aired in '94 & still am. As a medical professional that's worked in hospitals my entire career an an RN, the characters they play are so relatable & impressive...realistist. Still my go to show up until the later episodes. This was great to hear Mr. Wyle's takes on the show, thank you for posting this !
well, you can praise the writing, the great character development and the authenticity of ER all you want, for me it was the camera direction and all the stuff that went on the background that amazed me the most. it was such a great choreography and i can't even imagine what kind of planning and organizing went into each shot, simply television at it's finest!
ER is watchable to this day. If you added scenes of people waiting to see a doctor and using their mobile phones, it would look like it's a current TV show.
And now 50 years devorced with no kids and a stroke and cardiac arrest and colon cancer survivor and use a wheelchair when I'm outside of my apartment building I can't watch these types of shows anymore they remind me of me being alone in the hospital
That memorized monologue makes much better use of Noah's wasted brain space... than my wasted brain space holding onto "Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce..." Laughs
I still to this day lament the fact of Noah Wyle not being in the OCEANS 11 remake, which George Clooney had fully intended on being the case, but Wyle was just too busy with his ER shooting committments to do it. Granted I'm not sure if it would've been for one of the actual team members (my best guess has always been the Livingston Dell character) or one of the other side roles in the movie, but Clooney had absolutely wanted his old friend to be there. Thankfully, at least Wyle got to be a part of the live TV remake that Clooney made of FAIL SAFE.
Without the chemistry and strong basis of these original main cast members, ER would never have taken off. As they left one by one, I actually lost interest. Then Greene left and that was it for me, I stopped watching. It wasn't until I brought the entire 15 season boxset, did I begrudgingly watch the entirety. -gotta say I still don't quite take to the new cast. Actually especially, the fan favourite, Abby, I really don't like. But ER. It's a superb series. Only Star Trek TNG and DS9, Cheers and NCIS could really approach the beauty of ER.
I agree with you on Abbey. I didn't like Dr. Corday either. I stopped watching too when Mark Greene left but I'm binging it on Hulu now. For me it was always Dr. Greene, Dr. Lewis, Carter and Benton. DS9 is my favorite show of all time, but ER, MASH and Seinfeld are right up there too.
For me, Abby and Luka destroyed the series, they're just nasty characters, and since the originals slowly dropped off one by one, all of the good chemistry was destroyed. Carter couldn't hold it up alone, he needed Benton alongside. I'm currently going thru series 8 and most likely will end it after it's done, the decline started already on the series 6.
I would vote for Noah if he ran for president of the US. We would be better off if the president could be scripted. But I think part of Noah Wyle IS Tom Mason. I hope he considers politics soon.
@@carmelacotroneo4926 Yeah. That is the problem. They get into DC and then the magic is gone. The last president to get elected for his youth and good looks was JFK. Look at how that played out. Maybe Morgan Freeman?
They should change the name of these video's from Pioneers of Television to The Actors of Television. E R was on from around 1994 and ended around 2009, The pioneers of T V were actors from the decades of the later1940's thru the end of the1950's decade when television was brand new and transmitted to the public, And all shows were broadcast live. By the early 1960's television was no longer considered a new medium. By the time shows like E R were aired they were filmed by digital cameras.
I first saw Noah when he came out on Swing Kids. It was a very small role but I always remembered him. Then occasionally in other movies/shows. It wasn’t until in my adulthood that I watched/binged on ER. One of the best shows I ever watched and he was one of my favorite characters to watch. I get so happy to see him in any show or recently at the World Series. Just a glimpse. Lol

Noah Wiley is so underrated! Amazing actor! Also, my favorite Steve Jobs actor!

It's an amazing interview. Deep questions and even deeper and self-reflective answers from Noah.
Every Thursday during the day, I made it my business to tune into 'ER'. (If I was not at home, I would record it). A high watermark in television.
Best show in history
Thank you for sharing!
He was a great doctor in the show ER

Omg, was this the first confirmation that the cop in the pilot is Frank?
No. It's on IMDb
