Just drill the rivet tops carefully on the silver checker take it off, source some black checker plates and replace. The front grill is easy too, undo the bolts remove the grill then replace, put either old bolts back or better still use s/s.

How do you replace the lower front grilled and change the side step checker plate to black?would love to get that sorted on my 90
