I lived on Cape Ann for 50 years, the last 15 on Main Street in Rockport. My first job when I moved to MA was in the shop where Sand Castles is now. You should go up the other way on Main where the Shalin Liu Center, Front and Back Beaches are and the beautiful Congregational Church. Also, Tucks Candies and many galleries with lovely artwork.
That means a lot! I’m still terrified of vlogging but slowly getting back into it! Please consider subscribing if you haven’t already. I will be doing a lot of international travel now!
I’ve gone there all of my life then moved to FL, so thank you for the video.... made me tear up... I hope it picks up ASAP!! Be sure to go into Artisanos and see my friend Lucy!!!
I’m 57. Childhood utopia perfectly describes Rockport/Gloucester for me as well since I was 5. We rent several cottages/homes there every summer and bring a big krewe. Two in town places and a big beach house on the sea wall of Long Beach at same time in July. It’s my favorite gig every year! I’ve been around and lived in coastal Florida during my training and have been to HI 5 times. Caribbean several times etc. I feel like a salmon with a need to go back to Rockport not to spawn 😄 but to reconnect and rejuvenate. Went to Rosemary Beach in panhandle if FL a few years back. Rented a $$$$ home. It is a pristine and perfectly planned and executed area with all the authenticity of vinyl siding and the charm of a tetanus shot. That was harsh but what I’m trying to say is that Rockport is the real deal. I do agree with other comments about the video being low on the Rockport content and maybe too high on the cool sunglasses.😎😃 Looking forward to the 2.0 reboot!😃
I definitely plan on doing another Rockport video with no crazy editing. I appreciate the feedback and thanks for watching! Be sure to subscribe so you know when it comes out! Thanks again for the comments. I wouldn’t know what people like or dislike without these comments and I welcome them
Moving to Boston and want somewhere to send the folks to for a few days when they visit… they love these kinds of small harbour towns in the UK so was thinking maybe kennybunkport or somewhere - stumbled across this vid and others of rockport / Gloucester too 🤔 do these places completely shutdown for autumn / winter? Or still worth a visit? And any solid number 1 not to be missed? I think they’ll be over around halloween for a couple of weeks, thanks 👍🏻
@@paulcole things get tough in October as far as restaurants and retail being open. Weather is usually beautiful that time of year though. Salem MA in October gets interesting because of Witch Trials and Halloween. Super kitschy but still fun and some real local history. Think Hawthorne or Miller’s The Crucible. Stay on 128 N to Cape Ann and explore by car. Take a walk along the sea wall on Long Beach. Get a sub at Virgilio’s on Main Street in Gloucester. Key lime pie at Seaport Grill & outrageous seafood and portions at the local joint called The Causeway. Hook back onto 95N to The York’s then Kennebunks. Portland’s Olde Port is a good take and all walkable. Excellent eating options (Street & Co., Fore Street, Scales, Central Provisions, Union….) & watering holes like Gritty’s et al. Interesting retail during the day.
Rockport is stunning, be sure to bring your camera! Im happy to answer any questions you may have about the area as well and im glad you liked the video. Im still learning the RUclips ropes but having a blast doing it!
We just move from Gloucester the week before Christmas we moved to North Carolina me and my Wife used to own Amelia’s Restaurant by Good Harbor Beach Miss Gloucester
Such a wonderful place. I wish I still lived there. Always so much to do. When it snows it looks like a postcard. I hope you’re enjoying NC. I hope to live in coastal Carolina one day
My wife and i lived right on Dock Square for about a year. It's a beautiful town with wonderful neighbors. Thanks for the video!
Rockport is certainly one of a kind and I miss living up there!
My hometown. Thanks, nice overview. I worked on one of those boats in the harbor, and knew the owner of the Ocean Reporter :-)
I wish I still lived there. Rockport is probably one of my most favorite places on the planet. Glad I had the chance to live there!
❤️

I've been there: I climbed down the rocks & washed my face & hands in the Atlantic Ocean: a truly awesome experience for a guy from New Zealand!
Glad you enjoyed yourself! Welcome back anytime!

We're planning a family trip there in a few weeks. Looks beautiful. Really enjoyed the video and look at it as things start to reopen.

I can’t believe that you just ordered lunch from a restaurant and said it’s nothing special. Everything in Rockport is special
haha I can't be mad at this...you are correct, Rockport and everything in it is special!
Should have had a lobster roll with some chowdah!
Ah, the obligatory techno music ... how could we survive without it? Plus, the use of the word "cool" to described ... well ... WHAT?
Haha thanks for watching
Rockport is nice but Gloucester offers overall more to do
I couldn't agree more. Gloucester is loaded with things to do!
True. But Rockport is it’s very own brand of special. They’re nothing alike.
