Can't wait to his port to MW5. The sword actually being usable and having a custom skin for longswords? HELL YES! But I'm absolutely not a fan of anything but Energy Hardpoints on the Black Knight. It's an energy platform, I want ti that way.
Melee damage numbers get insane on assault mechs with the Solaris DLC. It's awesome. I play around with a dual Arena Fist Archer with MPLs and SRMs that's great for flanking. Get behind, and most mechs are dead to the alpha strike then the 1-2 combo. Also a Highlander using a tier 5 axe. 92.5 damage on that axe (playing unmodded) is ridiculous. Slap 'em with AC/20, MLs and SRMs on the way in, then big damage. Super satisfying.
Oh I just realized the value of the 3rd person drone view with that shield up blocking vision! Awesome! Only good while moving to position obviously, but cool!
I hope they bring melee into MWO, but that might require a massive rework that would see the servers be taken down for a little while to implement. It might just be easier to create MWO2 and completely build it from the bottom to the top.
@@diazinth nah. I think more than anything it was some drama from way back when. and *supposibly* there was some drama stuff and the code ran off...and PGI just...never felt like dealing with it so just left it as is...or some nonesence like that
They're not refusing to. I don't think it's something the engine can support very easily. Like why they haven't added ammo switching either, but this is an easy mod in Unreal.
That warhorn is also one of my favorites. But my new favorite right now is a relatively new one that makes this real ominous sound, like you would hear in like a horror movie or maybe in a movie with an alien invasion. I forget the name of it, but it's for the Dreadnought.
Well, that first fight was really cool in tems of shield showcase. I am not sure about the skil tree though. Maybe Torso Speed would be better than overall speed tweak, because you need to bring up your shield in front of you faster. Your CT got opened up way too fast in both games. At least for my taste.

Ya, I see one of these on the battlefield, and I'm not shooting anything but feet. That shield doesn't cover the legs entirely. at 67 Armor a mech with 76 pinpoint opens the leg up in 1 shot.
@@ratofnihmI haven't played since the patch but I rip the legs off of the Centurions with the shield. Cripple their mobility and the mech is a goner a lot faster
@@ArkLord001 I mean. thats like MOST mechs in the higher weight brackets now days,lol direwolfs walking around with 12-21 leg armor so they can squeeze that extra 5 damage in.
@@MrOrdosanDepends on the mech with me. If it's one that has that shield, I just tear the legs off it. Other mechs, it's a nut shot every time or the RT. I don't aim at anything else tbh. That doesn't mean that I don't hit other locations, movement happens but unless there is a clear reason to shoot something else on a mech, there is no reason to shoot anywhere else. 95% of mechs are Right side weapon heavy and their ECM if they have it is mounted in the RT. Removing the RT cripples the mech.
... oh and that warhorn in the 2nd game of the day! I need a full soundtrack! YEAH! ... Bara is the best! He is and he will always be! Wayyyyyy better than TTB!)))))) And even maybe better than Phil! LOL
I understand that it's largely to do with the mechanics of MWO, but I would have loved if the shield was on a sliding joint of some sort and you could "activate" it, throwing the shield to your front. It'd shut off your relevant side-torso and center torso weapons, but your shield would be directly in front of you and follow your arm movement until you turn the shield off again, placing it back on your side. I feel like it'd create some interesting, dynamic gameplay in regards to the shield.

If someone told me they took almost 1k dmg and still had most of their weapons - I'd expect they were running an Atlas.
It's basically carrying an Atlas CT as a shield.
that first match was the absolute showcase for the shield....almost a 1000 damage taken in a heavy mech.

Table top this thing hits like a truck. The vibroblade does 14 damage an hits on the punch table for rolls to hit

At this point, may as well give melee weapons an armor bonus too. That shouldn't be hard to do with Legendary 'mechs.

It's surprisingly easy to hit the RT, and just make that whole side fall off.
