Hey John! Great video! The scenery on the driving portion was awesome. For future reference, you want to be sure and run the steering thrust bearing at the top of both springs, inside the yellow cup, to keep crud out. Also, running the flat helper spring below the main spring helps to keep the rubber boot from getting pinched in the coupler and torn up. Anyway, enjoyed the video, keep it up!
I would have gone with a Momo style steering wheel or Grant momo variant since you removed the original steering wheel. Your channel is based on this car keep the videos going lol Awesome car!
John, thanks for the work on the video. I'm working on the suspension on my '87 Bertone X1/9 and found it helpful. I have a couple of questions; #1, where did you source the "Bigfoot plates" and are they needed on the front AND the rear? #2, your video shows the smaller size spring at the top of the strut and the larger coil at the bottom, but another video from someone else shows the opposite. Which is actually correct? Thanks again for producing this helpful video.
I did the helper spring wrong. It will pinch the rubber boot if you put it on top. I got the Bigfoot plates from Midwest Bayless. Not sure if they still make them. You could easily fabricate some yourself with aluminum plate and use a cardboard template to measure them. The fronts take the most abuse, but the engine weight is in the back. I would do all four.

Thanks, I learned about the helper spring tearing up the boot the hard way! I have the right spring rates dialed in now and the car is awesome.
@@johnlawson2576 Glad to hear it!

your spring rating need to be a bit closer you have the right idea of more in the rear but you went over board, the balance is way off
I upped the front rate and had great results. Thanks.
bingo front spring rate was gonna tell u that n lower rear springs a bit
