Hi, The manual for my samsung fridge indicates installing the water fliter vertically with the input at the top of the filter and the output at the bottom of the filter. Is this correct practice? or does the filter orientation not matter. Thanks
Simple easy to get video, thanks a bunch. I found when I did this there were little plastic tabs that prevent pushing in the seal to pull out the hose. As soon as I unclipped them I could pull out the hose. They're hard to see.
Greg, I purchased a Fisher & Paykel three months ago. Living in a condo, the main water is normally shut-off every other month for 3 hours, so others can get their plumbers out to work on any leaks. The water dispenser & ice maker on this refrigerator has mostly NOT worked over the past three months. Do you think this could be due to the constant water shut-off's, causing the existing water to either freeze in the line or leave debris in the line, which could plug the filter? Any suggestions on how to get rid of this problem? Very frustrated with my new refrigerator.
Hi Greg, Where can you buy those filters in Brisbane? I have a Fisher & Paykel fridge but I can't locate a place that sells that particular model filter.
Hi Greg. I had no idea I could replace my filter with an inline one. It turns out that I have replaced my original 847200 and now it is still leaking. Could it be that I need to replace the header? Also would I just be better of and buy an inline filter ? Thanks.
Hi Monica, if your filter in mounted externally simply replace the head and filter with a inline type. If your filter is located inside the fridge you have to replace the head if required or try and bypass it and install a external inline filter.
Thanks Greg. I have just replaced the upright filter in my FP fridge, and it worked well for a week, and now there is a loud vibrating noise and the water runs low and the tap icon appears with a cross through it. I have checked the lines, reprimed them and it's still happening- any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Hi Kelly, Reset the filter replacement light on the front of the fridge. To check the water flow disconnect the outlet side of the filter and turn the water back on flushing the filter into a bucket. If you have good flow out of the filter then the problem is most likely the solenoid valve at the back of the fridge. If the flow is poor out of the filter then remove the filter and turn the water back on to check the flow out of the tubing. If the flow is still poor then you need check the PLV pressure limiting valve. Remove the valve and check the flow. This should cover most flow and noise problems.
Hi Rachel, Not sure where in NZ but we can send the filters from Australia. Simply click on the product link below to view or purchase the filters. www.clarencewaterfilters.com.au/products/F-%26-P-10JG5M-Generic-in%252dline-filter-replaces-836848.html Regards Greg
Hi, Every time the water is shut off and turned back on it flushes extra dirt and sediment into everyone's lines and this could be the cause of your filter blocking up. The F & P filters are very fine and we have found by using a in line replacement filter the best way to keep a good flow rate for longer. You should have a tap behind the fridge to turn the water supply off. You can check the water flow before the fridge by removing the tubing between the fridge and the tap. If you have a good flow out of the tubing then it is the filter causing the problem.
Thanks Greg, you just helped someone on the other side of the planet! What an amazing time we live in!
Good video. What about use/installation of an in-line pressure limiting valve?
Is it possible to by pass the filter on our Fisher Paykel refrigerator as we already have an RO system for the entire house?

Thanks. I used the information to install my 10JG5M from Clarence Water today. You have made it easy for us :-)
Thanks a bunch. This was exactly what I needed for changing my Honeywell In-Line Scale & Sediment Water Filter!!
Does it really make the water come out faster? Everyone I know with this F&P fridge complains how slow the water comes out.

In most case yes the flow will be better and for longer.
No problem, glad it helped
