Police Quest III - NEW WR Speedrun "any% happy end" 33min 52sec. by nad_chario

New World Record! First "Sub34" on this planet. I think this was my last any% run on this game. I'm very happy with all 6 Days. The elevators were relatively nice to me. They are completly RNG and you can only hope for the best in every run. Day 1 in sub10 min. is very fine. I did this in my old WR too.
There are definitely a few seconds that you can save. But I won't try that for now :-)

Great run! How'd you get the Marie attack scene to trigger on Day 1 so early?

Hello & thanks! This is not that easy because certain requirements must be met. The highway section on day 1 is very complicated. You have to restart the game often to get into the right pattern. You have to stop Ruiz (slow car) as the first car on the highway and in the right place. All of this depends on how you get to the crime scene (Marie) later.

@@nad_chario So is it just RNG whether you get Ruiz first? And you restart until you do?

@@swimfanTV Yes, you need Ruiz first for an fast any% run. For me it looks RNG, which car is first. I haven't been able to identify a pattern so far.
And yes, if it's not Ruiz , a restart is needed. The big problem is always the long wait for the phone call. You have to do this every time ;)

@@nad_chario Interesting... I've been looking for a way to skip that wait. Only thing I've found is that you can look up one of the Homicide cases for Day 2 ahead of time, just to use the wait time for something else.
As you may know already, you can skip all of the highway stops after the one with Morales, but if you never give a ticket to Ruiz, you can never get the warrant on Day 6 because you can't enter the courthouse.

@@swimfanTV No, you can't use the waiting time for anything else. When you look in the computer, the timer is not running down. I've tried many things, but I can't shorten the waiting time for the phone call. This looks like an integral part of the game and obviously cannot be manipulated.
And Yes, you have to stop Ruiz, otherwise the courthouse will not appear
