  • KINGSDOWN TO ST MARGARET’S-AT-CLIFFE & ST. MARGARETS BAY - This is part 28 of my around the coast cycling (and walking) challenge. On this week’s episode we are carrying on around the Kent Coast, we leave Kingsdown and head along the start of the white cliffs of Dover and head down towards St Margaret’s Bay. This week we look at the old coastguard house, cliff erosion, Ian Flemings house, cliff tunnels and machine gun posts and lots more.

The £3.5 million house used to be The Bluebird Cafe. It had great cakes!

Sad you didn't show from Walmer to Kingstown. I used to holiday in Kingstown in the 1950s and cycled from Kingstown to Walmer many times. Also walked from Kingstown, past the rifle range and on to St Margarets. At that time there were still unexploded mines and there were warning signs on the beach. Of course we kids would chuck great lumps of stone over the barriers in the hope of setting one off. Thankfully that never happened.
