I don't know who you were talking about with a Lee Enfield obsession. I mean I'm sure he has no problem and can stop when he wants. Any day now. Really no problem at all. Ok just a couple more thousand rounds... But tomorrow, tomorrow he'll stop. Just one last mad minute.
Thanks for another great post on making Chassepot and Dreyse cartridges. My cartridges are quite inconsistent (often lacking rigidity and not withstanding the strike of the needle), so anything which can improve my own construction is much appreciated. Learning is a large part of the fun but I think getting 10 shots off out of 10 cartridges will be more fun than Christmas! Best wishes.
Jason Buckingham Top tips for rigidity: 1. Powder compression, pack it as hard as you can. A tube holder like the one I use in my authentic cartridge vid is really good as it constrains the cartridge walls when you compact the powder. For reference, the powder in my original cartridge is still rock hard after 160 years. 2. Don’t be afraid to double the case wall thickness for extra rigidity.
in theory for years of consistent use, that would be best, but in practice it probably isn't that necessary for the volume of ammunition one would probably be making and the amount of glue or moisture that would get on that piece.
You know they make these neat brass tubes for some guns? You can even reuse them! If you can find them..... mine seem to hide in the grass a bit. But they make a neat rolling thing on a stick that picks them up anyway! What a modern world we live in.
Question for u bloke or anyone else who knows , is there in Switzerland the ability for tourists to shoot in your country like there is in the USA where u can hire a gun and shoot
MrTangolizard You can do in most commercially operated clubs. You should inform yourself beforehand as to what forms of ID you will need though as that is at the discretion of the club. Most will be 25m - max 100m. AFAIK only Brünig Indoor offers 300m for hire.
The Chap thanks for the reply very interesting would be nice to have a holiday in a beautiful county with a bit of shooting mixed in as well (maybe a business op for someone there lol running shooting holidays in Switzerland)
many years ago I was doing ACW re-enactment, so only firing blanks, ere Missus stop tittering please !. I was using a paper cartridge Sharps so I used a section of a 20 guage wood and brass cleaning rod (just happenned to be right size) 2 king size Rizla papers and a smear of Priitt stick to make each cartridge 1st paper was rolled leaving half an inch overhang which was glued twisted and tucked into the threaded hole in the end of the rod (handy!) 2nd was rolled and glurd over top the overlapping was glued and pressed flat for strengh put aside to await 60grains of black after filling excess was folded, glued into flat tail
I say this because I love your channel: I don't know that RUclips is intelligent enough to understand this video is harmless and I sorta wish you would just put a teaser on RUclips and direct people to the full video elsewhere.
No one has a Lee Enfield obsession. There are just people who understand how great it is and those have yet to realise how good it is
I don’t know what your talking about, having 6 Lee Enfields, is not an obsession. I can stop any time I like, just after I get 1 more, I swear.
The Chap - Where reloading meets kindergarten :)
wood1155 Now there’s a nice idea. It’s not child labour honest 😇
Surely reloading meets Blue Peter?

Would it be a good idea to make the forming ring from a non-tarnishing metal?

Whitpusmc You sir are living in a realm of fantasy. Next you’ll be telling me there is powder that doesn’t smoke. Poppycock!
It's all just a passing fad, right? :D
Hi mr Chap!
just a small question what kind of paper do you use for your cartridges?
nice vidio
Happy Pants Hi, I use brown parcel paper which I guess is standard everywhere. It has a slightly stripy surface.
@@thebotrchap okej nice thanks:)
This might be similar technology to the cigar industry !
There was some crossover between cigarette manufacturing tech and paper cartridge manufacturing tech back in the day.
@Tom Sanders No that is Cuban cigars. The 6 pdr automatic Molins gun was made by Molins who were actually a cigarette machine manufacturer.
@Tom Sanders It was probably old soldiers making up beer money by pretending to be virgins.
@@johnanon6938 Well you can use ganja as the smoking material. It is much nicer in a vaporizer and does not smell quite so much.
Where can I get a correct bullet mold for the dreyse?
