De Blob is just so memorable in my opinion, and maybe that's just nostalgia... But despite literally being black and white to start, each level is so interesting and distinct. It nails the balance between challenging and pure enjoyment. I never got far in de blob 2 but I might check it out.
I'm surprised this video came out recently, considering this is a pretty old game. This game surfaced in my memory recently as I played the original demo for the wii as a child. I've been looking for it for a long time and I finally found it! If I can scrape up the money to buy this game, I'll finally get to experience the full game after all of these years. Great video!

Yeah, I never got why people didn't talk much about de Blob. It always seemed like a charming series to me. But, outside of the El Tigre game, every other console game Blue Tongue has made seems to be more well known.
I remember for school I did a survey in which a had a list of games where I asked people which games have they heard of, and De Blob was on that list, along with some other games like Call Of Duty. Hardly anybody heard of De Blob at the time, and I asked a lot of classrooms :(
@@ohnhai I didn't, but I found out about it when I was interested in the Nicktoons games you worked on a few years back. Definitely surprised of it's existence, even if it was mostly just Toybots with an El Tigre coat of paint.

Was gonna be more (story mode and all that) but the series got cancelled out from underneath us and we switched to salvage the work the best we could rather than scrap it completely.. Though I did get the best compliment t of my professional career thanks to this game.. my concepts for the Aztec level were sent to El Tigre’s creator to ask if they were in the ballpark. He replied . “No. They are not in the ballpark. They ARE the ballpark. :) The whole game took us 12 weeks start to finish…
You didn’t mention how when you paint something it makes a sound from a certain instrument that is in time with the song and the instrument changes depending on the colour, honestly the coolest part of the game in my opinion.
This happens to be the first video I’ve watched from your channel, and I’m really loving it. The editing’s really smooth and just really visualizes exactly what you want to say, and it’s just great. Also, it ain’t easy being a de Blob fan in 2020
You didn’t even mention how awesome the story is. It’s simple, but the jokes land consistently and the depiction of a dystopia is surprisingly dark, especially in de Blob 2. I’m working on a game for uni about a dystopia with a lighthearted tone, so I’m hoping I can get the rest of the team to take some pointers from de Blob 2. I’d kill for a third game. I’m almost done with my first full playthrough of the series and I’m so sad it’s ending.
You deserve more views, dude, the quality of this vid (editing, narration, structure) was on par with some big channels who rely on their videos to make a living. I recently and finally bought de Blob for Switch as it had been sparking my interest for quite a while. I knew about this game being on Wii back then and even read some reviews about it, praising de Blob 1&2 and calling them "must haves" for the Wii, but I somehow never got to play them. I'm glad to be finally playing de Blob 1 and liking my ecperience so far, especially this awesome music. The jumping mechanic is a shortcoming, that's for sure, but other than that de Blob is a very fun experience. de Blob is one of those games I never personally played but I remember always seeing in stores and the occasional ad. This really made me want to try it out, especially as it's on modern consoles.
I recently remembered about playing de blob 2 and loving it when I was younger, so I decided to look up some gameplay of it, and I was kinda disappointed how little there is compared to how cool the game is. I’m happy to have found your video and that you share the same opinion though :) Also when I found out that both de blob 1 and 2 are available on the nintendo switch it made me pretty happy
I was really active on the official de Blob 2 Facebook page way back in 2011, which harbored an amazing amount of interaction between the de Blob team and the fans. Met some really neat people through that, and the developers even awarded free figurines and t-shirts to those who uploaded their fanart. I've held onto all that memorabilia I've accumulated, and I still go back to the two games (especially the sequel) pretty often. Sweet video dude!

I just dusted off my wii and am doing a play through of de blob 2. I love this game and I’m excited for the nostalgia trip. Do you know how to enter cheat codes on the wii? I want to unlock all the levels at once bc the first few levels are super slow lol. I’ve found them online but can’t get them to work when I try to enter them… probably won’t see this but I’m so desperate lol.

I loved this game series so much. A lot of my friends gave me questionable looks whenever I talked with them over Xbox Live, saying that I was playing this game (yeah I bought the sequel for XBox, I have NO IDEA WHY). It's a game that definitely sparked my creativity when I was a kid oh, so I have this game to thank for it. The music in this game is all so incredible. Something stupid I did as a kid was that I purposely kept replaying levels and listening to the characters speak to try and see if I can learn their language. While that in itself was a waste of time, something I can actually appreciate is that even though they speak gibberish they actually spoke all of their lines of dialogue.

Decided to write my midterm for my game design course about De Blob, and came across this video when looking through the cutscenes! I was really impressed by solid quality of the video, good stuff :D The game brings back a lot of memories, and I totally agree that I think if the game's movement was refined and blob flowed better, would be absolutely perfect

I never had them myself, but one of my friends had it, and I always thoroughly enjoyed playing it. I barely even remembered the gameplay, just that it was a ton of fun. I LOVE DeBlob 2. It has great replay value for me, My toddlers used to watch me play and just be contented by being next to me and watching it like a cartoon. Now they're older and it's a great starter game for them. Lovely bright colors, awesome soundtrack!

His skins even speak for himself. Blue could be his default while having the other colors red, yellow, orange, green, purple, brown and either a gray skin to represent graydians or a black skin to represent the Inkies. Maybe even a clear one to represent him with no color at all.

This game defines my childhood. I played the first one on the Wii Console, the Second on Ps3 and Ps4. There was also a little DS Game, and I played this one through too.

i will never forget playing de blob 2 and in the final boss battle and when you’re in a color it changes the music and it’s so beautiful and awesome how much detail and depth went into the music with every color vibe and how it mashes together
Man I was getting an itch to replay the game recently, so just came to look it up online rn and this came up. Made me pretty damn happy to tell you the truth seeing that someone else actually played, De Blob was definitely a favorite childhood game. I probably would have played it a lot more if my OG copy on the Wii didn't get stolen but probably will be playing 1 & 2 again on PC pretty damn soon.
Also wanted to add the fact that I always hated the timer in game for the levels so I would just use the cheat codes to increase the amount of time you can spend in the level.
These games are amazing and looking back on it, by far one of the top games on the Wii. I had so much fun with 2 on the 360. Just bought both of them for the Switch on sale. Played the first level of De Blob HD and am still blown away by just how solid this game really is. I wish a 3rd game would come out, but I have a feeling this series just isn't selling well.
Hey thanks for the video. I worked on these games and yeah i think they deserve a little more recognition. De blob for smash bros is a great idea. I don't wanna brag but i have the blob 2 sound track on vinyl. Also the band that performed all the music, the bamboos, played a set at the launch party. It was one of the greatest nights of my life.
Yo these videos are great. Well scripted and well said, my only complaint is that you should mix the audio better (I had to turn my phone's volume on max to hear your voice clearly, and some sounds blasted my ears as a result.) Anyways, de Blob is very underrated and you should keep preaching it 👏

i can't begin to express how happy i was to see someone else who loves these games. i really do think the experience of being a de blob fan is just playing concentrated joy and then spending the next ten years or so wondering why no one else knows about it. and the music! FINALLY someone who understands why the interactive nature of the music is unbeatable! just thinking about it made me spam the game channel of my best friends' discord server. I know that from an outside perspective i am a raving lunatic in a faded de blob t shirt i've kept since 2008. but as you so aptly said in your description, "i talk about de blob because no one else will". all jokes aside, this is a really nice video. i know jumping with the wii motion controls sucked, but how did you feel about them otherwise? personally i always felt like de blob was one of the few wii games that the motion controls made more fun. i always enjoyed slamming the remote down when you had to smash enemies.
I was obsessed with this game. However, I was very young at the time and had a very hard time grasping the large map, so I was only able to complete the first part of the game. It is a masterpiece that I would like to play again. Anyway, the sound of this game should be more appreciated!

I played de blob 2 so much I did 7 separate runs on the Wii version painting every single building 1 specific color in every level. I love this series and I’m glad THQ is still around in some capacity (de blob 3 pls)

OMG that's hilarious dedication! I once painted all of Last Resort red just for the fun of it, then proceeded to paint all of Uptown blue. I was going to do yellow for Downtown but then realized again how big these levels are and it would've took too long! :D
I found it the place all the people go who thought de Blob deserved better *sniff* I'm finally home. But no really if I actually did something on YT I'd just bring up de Blob somewhere down the road after hitting enough subs. Only then will it get the love it deserves heck these games helped me with a chronic depression spell I was having back then. This series of games helped me mentally and for that I'll never forget them. I salute you Blob and how you bassicly paint everything with your butt!
it’s so weird to see such a creative, passionate and incredibly diverse game (music wise) fall into the cracks of obscurity. when i first played De Blob back in 2009 it was and still is one of my favorite games because of not only charm but it’s really well put together gameplay despite it being very long. and it was one of the first games to use wii remote dynamics, so why did it slip the radar? i still question that as it is fucking AMAZING and i will not ever get enough of this masterpiece of a game.
Okay I might be rather late to the party, but I remember playing a game when I was around 10 with similar mechanics, only to find out it was the de Blob original development. I've spent hours on it and coming across this video feels like a proper blessing, definitely a blast from the past. wow i havent played the first game but i remember going to a store and just buying de blob 2 for xbox 360 when i was like 10. Back then we didnt have internet where i lived and i bought the game just because i like the box art so much. I loved the game ofcourse and its amazing how much it infuenced me in those earlie years of my life . BAck then I would only buy like two or three games a year so I replayed the hell out of it. I had de blob on the wii growing up and I cannot tell you how memorable and loved this game is to me. Such good music and an amazing concept. NO ONE REMEMBERS IT. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS. Bringing back memories. :’)

His skins even speak for himself. Blue could be his default while having the other colors red, yellow, orange, green, purple, brown and either a gray skin to represent graydians or a black skin to represent the Inkies. Maybe even a clear one to represent him with no color at all.

Man I was getting an itch to replay the game recently, so just came to look it up online rn and this came up. Made me pretty damn happy to tell you the truth seeing that someone else actually played, De Blob was definitely a favorite childhood game. I probably would have played it a lot more if my OG copy on the Wii didn't get stolen but probably will be playing 1 & 2 again on PC pretty damn soon.
Also wanted to add the fact that I always hated the timer in game for the levels so I would just use the cheat codes to increase the amount of time you can spend in the level.
Stealing de Blob is despicable. Stealing anything else is too, but de Blob especially. Hope you enjoy revisiting them, thanks for watching!
One part of the music I absolutely love is that more instruments get added the further you go in a level.
These games are amazing and looking back on it, by far one of the top games on the Wii. I had so much fun with 2 on the 360. Just bought both of them for the Switch on sale. Played the first level of De Blob HD and am still blown away by just how solid this game really is. I wish a 3rd game would come out, but I have a feeling this series just isn't selling well.
A third is definitely unlikely but I’m still holding out hope we’ll see it happen someday!
Hey thanks for the video. I worked on these games and yeah i think they deserve a little more recognition. De blob for smash bros is a great idea. I don't wanna brag but i have the blob 2 sound track on vinyl. Also the band that performed all the music, the bamboos, played a set at the launch party. It was one of the greatest nights of my life.

I discovered de Blob 2 on a whim while shopping for PS3 games. 100% worth the purchase, this is a hidden gem of a series.
Yo these videos are great. Well scripted and well said, my only complaint is that you should mix the audio better (I had to turn my phone's volume on max to hear your voice clearly, and some sounds blasted my ears as a result.) Anyways, de Blob is very underrated and you should keep preaching it 👏

i can't begin to express how happy i was to see someone else who loves these games. i really do think the experience of being a de blob fan is just playing concentrated joy and then spending the next ten years or so wondering why no one else knows about it. and the music! FINALLY someone who understands why the interactive nature of the music is unbeatable! just thinking about it made me spam the game channel of my best friends' discord server. I know that from an outside perspective i am a raving lunatic in a faded de blob t shirt i've kept since 2008. but as you so aptly said in your description, "i talk about de blob because no one else will".
all jokes aside, this is a really nice video. i know jumping with the wii motion controls sucked, but how did you feel about them otherwise? personally i always felt like de blob was one of the few wii games that the motion controls made more fun. i always enjoyed slamming the remote down when you had to smash enemies.

I was obsessed with this game. However, I was very young at the time and had a very hard time grasping the large map, so I was only able to complete the first part of the game. It is a masterpiece that I would like to play again. Anyway, the sound of this game should be more appreciated!

I played de blob 2 so much I did 7 separate runs on the Wii version painting every single building 1 specific color in every level.
I love this series and I’m glad THQ is still around in some capacity (de blob 3 pls)

OMG that's hilarious dedication! I once painted all of Last Resort red just for the fun of it, then proceeded to paint all of Uptown blue. I was going to do yellow for Downtown but then realized again how big these levels are and it would've took too long! :D

Seeing gameplay of de blob 2 on ds brought back a lot of memories, I beat that game twice.
I found it the place all the people go who thought de Blob deserved better *sniff* I'm finally home. But no really if I actually did something on YT I'd just bring up de Blob somewhere down the road after hitting enough subs. Only then will it get the love it deserves heck these games helped me with a chronic depression spell I was having back then. This series of games helped me mentally and for that I'll never forget them. I salute you Blob and how you bassicly paint everything with your butt!

it’s so weird to see such a creative, passionate and incredibly diverse game (music wise) fall into the cracks of obscurity. when i first played De Blob back in 2009 it was and still is one of my favorite games because of not only charm but it’s really well put together gameplay despite it being very long. and it was one of the first games to use wii remote dynamics, so why did it slip the radar? i still question that as it is fucking AMAZING and i will not ever get enough of this masterpiece of a game.

Okay I might be rather late to the party, but I remember playing a game when I was around 10 with similar mechanics, only to find out it was the de Blob original development. I've spent hours on it and coming across this video feels like a proper blessing, definitely a blast from the past. This video popped in my recommendations talking about not 1 but 2 full games utilizing the concept, man I gotta try them out. Thank you.
wow i havent played the first game but i remember going to a store and just buying de blob 2 for xbox 360 when i was like 10. Back then we didnt have internet where i lived and i bought the game just because i like the box art so much. I loved the game ofcourse and its amazing how much it infuenced me in those earlie years of my life . BAck then I would only buy like two or three games a year so I replayed the hell out of it. I just remembered about this game today and decided to google it , thats how I found this video! Great video btw
