    14:38 Follow your heart
26:45 Love is affirming everything I feel

The idea of evolution not feeling right should have no bearing on it's trueness.. according to the video anyway.
The irony of Christians talking about the truth lol.
Good day, may one day everyone know the truth is hidden, and anyone who's claimed to know it was after something unrelated.
Evolution may not be 100% complete and true, but it's at least trying to be self-consistent.

    • @akunog3665
      @akunog3665 3 года назад

@@petrusGFD "But how does a mind tuned to maximize survival require attaining anything true from our surroundings. For example, escaping a tiger can result from a plethora of false beliefs about tigers and their dangerousness to humans."
First, tuned to maximize survival is only a trend in evolution. It is essentially a random process, but the one's who produce more offspring and live long enough to produce more offspring are more likely to survive and be present in the world. I'll concede that the truth is not exclusively required to survive a tiger attack, but I'll also argue that the truth is more effective in more situations. If we want to survive things that haven't even happened yet we need to seek the truth about it. We are no longer struggling to survive the tiger of today, but the collapse of the future as well.
"If the theory of evolution is produced by a brain not tuned to attain truth but to survive, the theory and any thought whatsoever has nothing to do with truth. Survival is all that matters."
Here again, I would argue that the truth is very beneficial to survival, especially if we have gotten to a place where we don't have to worry much about tigers today, but our threats are abstract visions of the future that may or may not come to pass, the truth is a key part of this survival strategy.
"Self-consistency is not, in the other hand, a measuring stick that does good for you. A murderer intent on killing and willing to take action can self-consistent in their worldview, but still wrong in doing so."
yes, I agree with this 100%, which is why I said "Evolution may not be 100% complete and true, but it's at least trying to be self-consistent."
I didn't say that self-consistency was proof that evolution is true, it's just that being self-inconsistent would disprove it, like the king james bible is disproven as the inerrant word of god by contradicting itself. I don't think evolution is the complete answer, I don't think the complete answer is even necessarily knowable, which is my main point. If someone is telling you know the complete answer, but won't show their work.. I would be very skeptical, but that's just me. I only have a tenuous control over my own mind, I do not seek to try to control other's minds.
"Life just does not come from non-life, an empirical fact."
I don't think this is a proven, empirical fact. It's from a place of bias that you believe this to be true, even though you could not know. I don't know the state of research in this field, but regardless, there is no way to exhaust every possibility to determine it is impossible, especially in the timescale of a lab scientist. Just because life has not sprung from a vat of amino acids over the last few decades in a lab, does not mean it's impossible within the context of the entire cosmos.
Again, I'm not saying life came from non-life as an empirical fact.. I'm saying we don't know.. so, quit knocking on my door and telling me I'll see grandma again if I join this group and give my heart to Jesus, it's kind of sick, really this is how I feel. I wish everyone a good and fruitful life, but I don't know the answers, and I don't claim to.

The number of times I've had to explain what true love is to even pastors and "professional" evangelists just frustrates me. Thank you for covering that. I recently got into a heated argument with a popular Christian band on social media over what love is because of their very public affirmation of homosexuality. To them, letting someone know "they are loved" is more important than actually rebuking them for choosing their homosexual lifestyle over faithfully adhering to God's will, and justified their position by claiming that pretty much every Christian man has a porn addiction so no one can rebuke anyone else. It was so unbiblical.

That last bit is truly a pathetic attack they pulled out their backside. It diverts away from the topic and is irrelevant.
Yes, God loved the world so much he gave his one and only son to die on a cross that whoever believes in him shall not die but receive ever-lasting life, but he also says if you love him you will keep his commands, and that no one is worthy of him unless they forsake everything they hold dear in this world to follow after him and pick up their own cross.
The one who rebukes you openly is your true friend and is better than your enemy who will soothe you with a kiss.
Why? Because a true friend will tell you the truth for your benefit even if it hurts because they truly love you and don’t want you to be deceived. Your enemy wants you to stay in the comfort of your deception that leads to destruction. That don’t care what happens to you. That would love to see you be destroyed or just as miserable as they are!
Lord Jesus we follow after you. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. ✝️♥️🙏🏻

Sandra Ward, the only thing I wish i could do differently about doing this program with my daughter is that I would like at least another child or 2 to do alongside with her. We're are not a homeschooling family, so let's just say she is not a big fan of having to through a 45 min class at home. Having another child can add to the discussion, some of the activities prescribed would be more fun and they could add to each other's experien e going through it.

The bible says to acknowledge God in all our ways. Jesus had given us victory over sin because of his death and Resurrection! And now we have the Holy Spirit living in us! So when you feel tempted to tell a lie, God says acknowledge Him before you go to speak. Say I am tempted to tell this lie (for whatever reason) but my Heavenly Father hates lying so I will acknowledge Him in this decision and choose not to lie. Even if it is difficult, we have victory over sin if we choose to walk in the Spirit. It doesn't mean we will never sin (we are human) but we strive to walk in the Spirit.

(Acts 7:37-38) this that Moses that said unto the children of ISRAEL this is he(Christ) that was in the "CHURCH" that was in the wilderness
(Psalm 74:2) remember thy "CONGREGATION" which thou has purchased of old the rod of thine inheritance which thou hast redeemed this
"MT ZION" wherein thou hast dwelt
(Galatians 1:22) and was known by face unto the churches of JUDEA which were "in" Christ
(1st Corinthians 15:9) for I(paul) am the lest of the apostles because i persecuted "THE CHURCH OF GOD"
(Ephesians 5:21) even as Christ is the head of the
"CHURCH" and HE is the saviour of the "BODY"
(Ephesians 1:22-23) and gave him to be the head over all things to the "CHURCH" which is his "BODY"
(Revelation 21:22) I saw no temple for the LORD God almighty and the lamb are the temple aka body of Christ
(Revelation 11:1-2) saying rise and measure the temple of God(aka body of Christ) and those that worship therein -but the court that is without the temple leave out and measure it not for it is given unto the "gentiles"
(Numbers 1:51) no "strangers" can enter the temple by penalty of death / its the same OT and NT

What an incredible resource! I don't have kids .. but if I do one day, I'll be looking for this.
I'm also so very encouraged by Elizabeth's willingness and desire to stop what she was doing and create this resource.

Mike, I stumbled upon your channel a few months ago via the RUclips algorithm and have loved your videos and shared many with my community group. I have served in youth ministry for awhile and this video is so so so helpful as a reminder and to grow in how I help shepherd the kiddos better. I plan to share this with so many people. Thank you and Elizabeth for the great video!

One time my class had an open discussion about morality in every day life and we started by discussing the definition of "morals". A dictionary was never consulted, it was about what we felt it meant. Even though some people gave conflicting definitions we were collectively told by our teacher we were all correct. The conversation from then on was basically us talking past each other for an hour while the teacher pretended there was deep introspection happening.
This is why it's hard to have conversations with non-believers about basic things like love and justice. How can we have a productive conversation about anything if we don't all agree on what it means?

This is SO applicable, not just for kids, but for teenagers, young adults, and probably older adults too. I have seen so many of my peers throughout high school and college, both in and out of the church, wrestle with these questions of reality. We really need to ask questions and challenge people to think critically. Great video

    Great video with exciting resources!
As someone who recently started helping teach youth and children, this is very exciting! I’ve been appalled at what some of these kids believe and we’ve been at a loss at how to address these issues because most curriculum pretty much tackles things like Bible stories or what to do/how you feel during a specific conflict. They are not equipping us with how to help these kids in this day and age!
    Big thanks!

Elizabeth is very rapid and logical. Casually listening to her is not possible, focused attention is required. Meaning no criticism. She is correct that we make many assumptions about how our children think and what they believe and know. We often don't know our children and for that other adults.

While I do agree with Elizabeth and Mike, that doesn't mean we shouldn't critise. I have feeling you meant that you pay attention while they are speaking, and then give the criticism afterwards (If you have any, that is).

@@thebirdaplierphd.memeology3411 I literally meant close attention is necessary for her quick delivery. She was spot on. We assume to know what our children are thinking and believing. All young people like to experiment and bounce ideas around. They don't have emotional maturity. The extremes of emotions, such as love and hate, must be tempered by wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. God and Jesus being the best source. In the process of seeking a better understanding of others it exposes our own inadequacies. That's been my experience and it's often unpleasant.

This is an excellent video! I talk to my kids all the time about these things. It is so very important. I would like to say, $175 for only a years access to this curriculum is very expensive. I buy curriculum every year for my kids and nothing is this expensive and I am able to keep the curriculum for years to come. Answers in Genesis had worldview curriculum for much better price, maybe not the detail but it won’t break the bank.

Such a great video! As a father to a 1 year old I see the state of society and fear for the views that will be pushed on my kid. I've intended to teach about how to critically think, but to find a program set up to do just that is a huge blessing!!!

Thank you, Pastor Mike. I have been looking for materials and books to teach my granddaughters, ages 4 and 9, the absolute Truth of God's Word. They are facing such challenges at school and in the world today. After listening to your podcast today I feel that there are resources to empower me to teach them about Jesus Christ and the Bible. God bless you and your ministry!
