I remember being in college and how taboo it was for a student to inquire about the true value of education.

I agree. People seriously think being educated means going to school. That is far from the truth.

I told my parents im dropping out and they took it very well. In fact they didn't care about it because I already had an alternative 💯

The good part about colleges is networking with people who have your same interests or passions. Also meeting people. Meeting people.

I appreciate your comment AF but that's actually one of the misconceptions that keeps people ruining their lives and finances. So here's the deal. Back in the 1960s, 70s, 80s, college was really one of the only places you could meet like minded and ambitious people. Today it's a totally different world. My entire professional network and all my friends have come mostly from the internet, and none are from the 3.5 years I spent in college. "Networking" just means meeting people --- and the idea that college is the ONLY or best place to meet people, and that people should pay a small fortune to do it, is absurd. Beyond that --- in undergrad you aren't really even "networking" at all you are just making friends. So if we're telling every young person they need to incur a lifelong debt in order to meet people, that is insane.

Hi, Seth. I want to take your Digital Marketing. When I try to tell my mom that I want to take an alternative route to college, she berates me for being immature and tells me to grow up because she disapproves I do. Sometimes I wish she didn't pressure me so much.

Sorry to hear that - I suggest checking out my book Skip College for Success, it's on Amazon. It's not a magic solution but can give you much more detailed insight in how to deal with this.

the word "immature" and phrase "grow up" ironically are used by illiterate, wannabe adults who never bothered to maintain intellectual honesty develop understandings

Maybe what they should teach in these colleges and Universities is how to use hardware and or software and what to do should it go wrong. Instead of filling the peoples heads with regurgitated facts and history, show and give them the here and now.

What you said is true about the tuition. Students are paying for the campus lifestyle and not the education. The more luxurious ameneties the campus offers, the higher the tuition. Just like a presidential suite in an award winning five star hotel.
