The Italian guy seems like a cool dude
we’a gon ta freeze tha soil
@@cadfg7908 Freezing the soil seems like a 60s/70s bad guy would do in a spy film
@@Zoltaaan that’s the most obnoxious comment I’ve ever read lmao. At least space it out’a more.
He sounds like gru from despicable me movie

At the expense of sounding lazy, any elevator that allows you to avoid stairs is Five Stars.
meanwhile steps in elevator clicks lobby (first floor) the entire elevator plummets to the bottom floor i attempt to raise my arm to check my wrist to see how fast it was. it was instant! 10 stars! the only downside was they had to scrape me off the floor but still beats the stairs if you ask me.
It may be called a boring machine, but to me it's still incredible.
The italian guy sounded exactly the way I expected him to
6:10 I'm not sure whether Hammond get impressed by the engineering methods or by this Italian engineer accent
Hammond can only answer that.
He was trying not to laugh lol

you should hear how an Englishman speaks Italian, much more fanny
I'm surprised Hamster didn't crash his motorcycle during the visit
😂🤣😂
Is it reasonably priced, tho? 🤔
It's because there was no finish line
HAMSTER!!!??
Lol gold

I have been thru Norway’s many many Tunnels ,from 10 to 25 km ones . and the tunnel btw Copenhagen and Malmö under the sea. As well as the one under Mont Blanc btw Italy and France . and every-time i drive in one of those . I’m always in Awe and appreciation of the monumental efforts and money behind those man made marvels . Humans can do wonders , when they’re not fighting or in war .
English with italian accent 😊😊
“It’s very NICEEEE” 😅😂
Hannibal and Napoleon would have been thrilled.
Being an engineer looks and sounds like an exciting job. Engineering affects everything in everyday life. Engineers have to get it right or it will affect life in a negative way. Engineering is a cool profession to pursue.
As the saying goes my friend “ engineering makes the world turn”
You're simpleminded.
That's a big hamster tube
Actually this tunnel is quiet small, but it seems like its big because Hammond is the host!
An italian perspective: "Mhmm... English yes"
People say that Italians don’t end everything with “ah” but it seems like they do.
Nobody ever said that
When you find out your boss has a accent of indian engineer
I'm a Indian and I can confirm that's not a Indian accent, I don't know which accent it is but it's hurting my ears
@@apatriot6421 Hey I could say the same about indian accents too!
It is Italian accent.
Just use a tunnel bores they work in 1.16.5
if you use a world eater it also gets rid of the liquits. And because they are above 11 Blocks (they just want to dig through mountains not under the sea) they doesn't have to account for obsidian.
I'm gonna go back in time and try to explain to Hannibal that in the future we just dug a huge tunnel the alps to get to Rome
dude kinda sounded like borat
Idda likea tip on tah measle nota rounda🤣
Wha
PLEASE tell me someone else thought his accent was BORAT 100%???? LMAO!!!!
That dude’s accent made the indian accent sounds more adorable
no
When it melts after being frozen they'll be in trouble. Obviously, they didn't think it through.
I'm joking.
This freezing thing is just to help them dig it. After that there's already a wall
@@TheNamesArif Can you not read?
@@nikmcdonald3343 I can read, but I don't see a joke anywhere, just a completely ignorant, incorrect statement of fact being _called_ a joke.
7 billion? Over 20 years? That's nothing
Yeah, I was surprised how cheap it was when he said that. In the US we just passed a bill to allocate 1 _trillion_ dollars to such projects over the next few years, so 7 out of that is like nothing, and yet we still have almost nothing as useful or ambitious in the works, smh.
@@moogle68can the US even afford it
Mud finger, aeh ice cream finger. Haha.
AWESOME video!
Italian accent....idk why suddenly i remember family guy
I am struggling to understand this freezing the sludge business at the end, yes I know there is now a drilled hole through the frozen solid ground - but what happens when the ice melts and that ground returns to sludge?
Go to the 6:40 mark. I believe they will have the final lining installed in the frozen area by the time it thaws.
This freezing thing is just to help them dig it. After that there's already a wall
They are putting Walls into the drilled holes, that are waterproof and able to hold the mass above them.
How is the structure even stable in that sludge? Unless they build a pile foundation down to solid rock
(First couple of seconds) Jeremy Clarkson would not approve
Machines made in Germany 🇩🇪 💪
I'm suprised Azula is not commanding this machine
Elon says that he can do it for 25% of the cost and time and it’s underground even worse, somehow they believed him😂

How do they frezze a large quantities of liquid nitrogen in short periods of time
Well since 78% of air is made out of Nitrogen I think they got it going
It doesn't drill, 'No it crashes'😂
Contrary to what the name suggests, that machine is actually quite interesting :P
Wow italy is beautiful, i want it! I must conquer italy!

In Georgia, Metro Tbilisi tunnel some places are done same way 70 years before by frizzing soil.
Wow never expected someone from my country to be here
I think if anything, it's these kinds of things that people will remember our time for. Probably computers too, and unfortunately AI too.
But this is such an amazing feat, and a lasting impact that everyone will be able to witness very clearly.
Is it good? I don't know. Is it impressive? Incredibly so.
Indian Scottish South african and Australian accent is nothing infront of Italian ones
the first man has a quite neutral accent but the second one is awfull
It's not a big tunnel, Hammond just discovered a mouse hole.
Cool!
I live near an entrance, a safety tunnel. In the town near by 5 people have died from asbestosis.

Borats brother !
I was imagining the Italian bloke to be a part of mafia...no offence here...but can u imagine???🤣🤣🤣
The real answer to your question is: “It won’t be completed, ever”… France knows it, Italy knows it..that tunnel is useless
It's not the turin lyon tunnel, is the tunnel di base Gottardo, another one in the east
I wonder why they didn't sucks up all the sludge, make a tunnel at the bottom, fits in the lining, and fill the top with solid dirt
How? Where would the river go?
you cant remove soil under a river or otherwise river would collapse down
record braking 55km long? the gotthard railwaytunnel is 57km long. did i miss something or is he just stating wrong facts to make it more impressive?
The gotthard tunnel is 15km long mate, the only one stating wrong facts here is you
@@Tacticuz the one not being able to read seem to be you, i wrote about the railway tunnel which is 57km long, not about the auto tunnel that was built in 1980.
The new tunnel will be connected to an already existing one. Then it will be a 64km long tunnel.
Length wise yes, but I think the Brenner base tunnel has a wider diameter than the Gotthard. Being the length only 2km different it makes the Brenner an impressive tunnel for the amount of rock displaced.
Once completed the Brenner Tunnel will connect to the existing Intaltunnel. Combined it's a 64 km continuously underground route.
And why didn't they do this above ground? They could build special train tracks that would do the job at 1/10 the price and time.
Because making train tracks on hillsides is extremely expensive and needs alot more maintenance
Have you seen the steep mountain terrain in Italy?
Imagine trying to haul a freight train up a 10% grade.
Super steep mountains and trains don't mix. Also above ground means more environmental damage plus disturbing towns and local roadways.
If you build a roller coaster, sure...
you cant be from europe or you have never seen the alps or you wouldnt ask this rather silly question :D even if trains could climb the steeps and it would be possible (which it isnt) then the route would be like 10 times as long and not straight in anyway so trains would be way slower.
Yeah dad took a shat in one of those tunnels once ...
