24:15 Dude take heart, this show got me to know many Tolkien channels that are valiantly gatekeeping the lore, what you are doing is very valuable and appreciated. They messed with the wrong fan base.

Indeed, I have been enjoying seeing that most Tolkien lore channels were taking a stand against the show. It's still super disheartening though, if I'm being honest.

Far better than almost all other ROP breakdowns, with an actual insight into Tolkien's works. Keep going.

I do like the one that breaks down literally every nonsensical plot point in a flow chart, that Random Film Talk did, as well.

That plotline with the Dwarves and Mithril was so bizarre. I can't even understand their thought process.

And yes I thought Durin’s anger for Elrond missing his wedding to a point of swearing off elves was petty at first too…but if the journey to Khazad Dum is the equivalent of a casual stroll to the market as they’ve portrayed…yeah he probably should have gone

I mean, if everyone's already using teleportation... you've got a point. Although, if I do tend to wonder why they don't show the teleportation on screen, seems like an interesting plot device.

Commenting for the algorithm, keep up the good work! Also, not sure how they managed to do it, but the whole world feels small, like, we are told that Númenor is this grand Kingdom/Empire but the "King's Council" is filled with 4-5 people at most, and 2 of those are Galadriel and Halbrand, who shouldn't be there in the first place.

How would anyone know that the tree had transformed into mithril inside the mountain before it was discovered? Was the mountain transparent to the elves witnessing the battle?

And why if the Mithril was created by that fight between the elf and Balrog and therefore ALL of it is down there waiting to be discovered did celebrimbor even have any to form and test his hypothesis that it would be a cure for fading?

    • @thejollyviking8083
      @thejollyviking8083  2 года назад +1

So, I neglected to show it in my review (and it ended up taking like three rewatches for me to figure this out) but I'm pretty sure that the mithril Celebrimbor has was the ore that Durin gave Elrond.
However, the question of how Celebrimbor and Gil-Galad even got the idea that Mithril would stop their fading in the first place is a good one. It just turns out that they're right, even though there's no reason for them to be.

We're angry because it's duping fans of LotR.
It claimed to be LotR; an adaptation. Then changed to "inspired". It's illogical the same way if someone presents a superhero that flies, shoots laser from his eyes, and weak to kryptonite as Batman.
That's not what people who love Tolkien see in this show.
And even to be tolerant to it by taking it as a fan fiction, ignoring the LotR words in its title, it still is a shitty show in terms of criticism to a TV show, especially with its budget.
That's why we fans got overly frustrated and very defensive.
It's a gigantic underestimation, belittlement, of a cornerstone and gigantic litretural timeless work.
And of course, it's a representation of the talentless regurgitation of consumer-shit product to the masses. An insult to intelligence it almost feels like. And people don't tend to feel kindly when treated like idiots, and generally get upset when it happens.
