The harfoots are psychopaths. They will leave you for dead if you fall behind, then remember you later by repeating "we will wait for you" . Twisted culture! These animals are savages, yet their "hearts are bigger than their feet" WTF?
Thank you for putting voice to what's been going on in my head. Plus, if you watch it and sum it all up like this, I don't have to go through the pain of watching it myself! :)
Believe me, it's frustrating for me as well! This stuff is so bad that I'm curious as to why anyone ever focused on the "bearded dwarf lady" or the "Miriel should be white" thing.
Totally agree with the point that interacting with other characters and small details make characters more compelling than giving them flaws. Giving characters flaws to make them more interesting is a box checking mentality. That’s never good.
Great review. Also, thank you for mentioning that the migration of the harfoots makes no actual sense at all? People used to migrate to a different place because of some sort of difficulty, a danger or a shortage in food or water. They wouldn't just randomly travel about when nothing is at risk, and they most certainly wouldn't leave their man force behind to die!
Great review! This analysis is truly cathartic, it's hard to put into words how disappointing this show has been both as an adaptation and as its own story.
rop really seems to have either been written by an AI and not checked by any human, or by many different writers who never compared notes before dumping it all on screen.
Considering the Orcs this episode I'm legitimately starting to believe the latter. Seriously, the episodes aren't even being consistent anymore and it's only the FIRST season.
24:38 He once killed three people with a pencil, a f^%@!ng pencil, and John Wick isn't even a Numenorian The whole twig to the neck thingy is entirely believable 🤣🤣🤣 I appreciate that you watch and discuss, so I don't have to
Trying to decide whether this sounds better or worse than Amazon's Wheel of Time. I adore Jordan's books and world-am about to finish re-reading the whole series after leaving at ep. 6 in total disgust-and this seems like a similar mutilation of another legendarium dear to my heart. I'm glad I'm planning to do a Tolkien re-read after I'm done with WoT, because I haven't watched any TRoP episodes, but what glimpses I've had have already left a similarly bad taste in my mouth that, just as with WoT, needs to be purged by a re-read of the originals. Thanks for wading through the muck for the rest of us.
Indeed, from what I know the Wheel of Time series at least follows the general plot of book 1 (though things are obviously different) whereas for this they aren't even following the flow of the "narrative" (if you want to call it that)
I hate how the nutjob writers and directors bring down the incredible work artists did with the visuals. Utter disrespect of great art and craftsmanship.
Indeed, I think this is the reason for why I've focused on this show above all else, though I probably could have done something similar for Game of Thrones as well.
I dont see how anyone can say this is good. Bad acting bad fighting bad dialogue... Also the exit from the lore and canon although a bold move lacks intelligence and nuance.
makes sense for men to have a bigger libraries though, as men do die and must preserve their knowledge for future generations, while elves carry most of it in their memories and go ask their grand-grand-granny (who is still around and pretty) if need be...
This show drags on and on with the emotional BS... It's a fantasy action adventure. Not bible studies. The shows formula: ...build build build. Emotional damage. Moral dilemma. .... Oooo suspense......... Internal conflict of interest, tension. Randomness... Building Building...... end credits. Cue exciting action riveting next episode preview wow factor...... I'm about to cancel my subscription and wait till some one uploads the entire season for free. This is getting tedious and I feel punked! LOL !!
So, just to be clear, is your main complaint that the show is too preachy and too predictable? In other words, that it's now basically the exact same thing every episode?
To me the worst part is just how boring it is....theres no action, love, intrigue, romance, horror....nothing!! I'm astonished that someone read this, and approves such a boring show.
the orcs have always been that color, have you ever seen return of the king or the hobbit? this show isn't bad because of diversity, it would still be bad if it were an all white cast.
@@francisco9679 the orcs of mordor and isengard are dark skinned. There is a race of pale orc but that's not specified here. U suggested you go back and look at the uruk hai and mordor orcs. They are greens browns and deep reds also grey never all white. This isn't an accident.
@@jamst123 who cares we know that the show isn't directly following the lore. LOTR and Hobbit have had a lot white orcs already, literally watch return of the king or the Hobbit. you sound the same as amazon blaming racism. the show isn't bad because of diversity or wokeness it would be just as bad with black/green orcs and an all white cast. this show is souless that's why its bad not because of diversity.
@@francisco9679 the diversity isn't bad the real world politics is. Think you're colour blind. 99% of all orcs are dark grey, brown etc with exceptions of the known pale orcs like gothmog and azog. The uruk hai are almost black deep red in colour. You're on another planet if you think the fact they are all white in this show is anything other than a political message to try avoid any negative woke crying.
@@jamst123 Again just look at the Hobbit or return of the king, plenty of white orcs and again they're not following the lore directly. The fact that most of the elves that they chained are also white disproves you. You sound like the woke crowd crying about something that isn't there hahaha. The show is bad because it's bad, quit crying about something that isn't there just like Amazon crying and blaming racism when this has nothing to do with racism
"yes, you do mean that" the most minor shit in this show annoys you this much. yet, you expect me to believe the skin color of the cast isn't making you rage when you were watching. b.s.
Yup just another defender who adds absolutely nothing to the conversation, want to actually say what he said that was boring/wrong?... It's ok, if I saw a trailer that had 1.9m dislike and asked myself why am I not one of them, what do so many people see wrong that I don't get, I'd probably get defensive too.
Haven’t seen a show that was more grueling to watch than this. I binged three of them and I am personally someone who doesn’t care about faithfulness to the lore so long as it’s entertaining. The writing and direction are infuriatingly bad. Ignoring previously established characters and how they should act, the way these characters act are either inconsistent or irredeemable. I’m personally going to go enjoy House of the Dragon. In appearance it’s similar, but they hired writers and directors with a proven track record. Not a history of failed or canceled shows.
This is an organized, thought-out review. And the criticism is valid. What are you even talking about? Also, you may want to check your spelling and punctuation before commenting. That way people might take you more seriously.
They lost me when they got rid of my two favorite characters, Greg and Todd
Completely unacceptable!
Todd was the lucky one. He got out of this show after suffering through only one episode. Go Todd!

Hey, that's what I'm here for ;)
Such a great in-depth review. Most youtubers focus on the rage bait appeal while you analyzed the actual shit show that the story is. Subscribed!

*rolls eyes*
The showrunners squandered the money for Harfoots ponies so they took the *_banging coconuts_* approach? 🤔
I’d say keep up the good work, but I don’t want to see you suffer. 3 episodes is enough Viking 🤣
Oh no, I'm here for the long haul ;)

Galadriel's character is reminding me more and more of Denethor. Captain Obvious proclaims Galadriel isn't supposed to be like Denethor.
You'd hope Galadriel wouldn't be like Denethor

Non accidental white orcs... with black elf in chains.. yeah this show is going to get cancelled for sure.

@CoolDude Productions I'm curious as to how you would defend Galadriel attempting to swim across the sundering sea.
