Great cook/video Rus. Thanks for the heads-up on Ric... Very sad, brother. I recently lost a very good friend to pancreatic cancer, which was heartbreaking. I'll say a prayer for Ric and help him out a bit with the GoFundMe. Cheers, Rus
Thank you Greg! I hate hearing about your friend. I have an uncle that passed away around 2 years ago with pancreatic cancer. That has to be the very worse! Thanks Greg, I appreciate it and I know Ric does!
So sad to hear about your buddy Ric. Donated and will pray for a full recovery. On a lighter note, love the video. You are one of my "go to" for cooking / grilling / smoking videos and recipes.
Yeah, I hated hearing that news as well. Thank you so much for donating!!! I know he appreciates that very much and so do I! Glad you enjoy the video and thank you for watching them.
Good video Rus , you are making me HURNGY and wanting one of there grills . sorry I'm late in watching , getting all my stuff ready for Duck season it opened in montana on the 28 . THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA......
Such a good cook. Those ribs looked phenomenal. Next time you cook ribs on the El Patrone, pull the diffuser plates out, and cook directly over the fire and coals at 300F for two and a half to three hours. Can't wait to see what else this cooker can do.
Thanks, I appreciate it. I did a direct fire rib cook not long ago on the Pitt's & Spitts flat top grill and they turned out really good. I'm sure I'll get around to doing that cook on the El Patron as well. Thanks for stopping by and watching!
I just checked my El Patron for the drain plug. Don't have one however do have an open 1" to 1 1/4" pipe. Go figure I never noticed it. Thanks for sharing the cook looking forward to more El Patron cooks. I use the fire management basket from my LSG Offset and so far works good. Prayers for Ric.
Looking to purchase the El Patrone after the New Year, these videos from you and the others are REALLY testing my self-control LOL. Sorry to hear about Ric, sending prayers 🙏
Last year I came close to buying that El Patron but picked an Offset instead. Maybe this year I might just pull the trigger. Looks like a great pit and those ribs looked great as well! Cheers bud!
I donated to Ric via his Go Fund Me. Ric is good people. The ribs looked very good. Cool pit. I emailed Chris from LSG but he has not responded as of yet.
Hey Rus, I just saw your first video on the El Patron tutorial. Now that you have completed your first cook on it can you accurately compare the results here to your offset stick burner as far as a true wood flavor imparting on your ribs or briskets etc? I did have a stick burner before I moved but miss that true wood flavor and if you have the time could I ask your opinion if this LSG would be the answer or go back to the traditional offset ( I was considering Aaron Franklin's offset but three time the cost). Love your videos and thank you.
Great smoke flavor that only wood splits can deliver! Plus unlike an offset, fat renderings are able to drip into the fire enhancing the flavor even more as that infuses into the meat with the smoke. It's your choice on what you want to buy, but I will say the El Patron allows you to do much more than just smoke meats as I explained in the review video.
Is there any big difference in smoke flavor between cooking with splits on Patron as opposed to an LSG offset? If there isn’t much difference, I probably will go with Patron
@@SmokyRibsBBQ thanks for answering my question. El Patron is a smaller and more versatile cooker, but can still bbq like an offset is a perfect fit for my needs. She’ll look real nice next to my LSG Santa Maria.
please ask him to consider and look into “immunotherapy” as that has cured and stopped cancer, for those i know directly, in my cancer support group a while back. little to NO side effects too.
Hello Rus,
Thanks for the shoutout and for support. Kind words bought a tear to my eye. 👊🏼
You are very welcome Ric, and I hope it helps you out! Hang in there brother!

With this style setup using wood, love being the firebrick base, even in a home heating wood stove.

So many choices, but the fact that this one can do so many things makes it a great choice Al. Thank you, I appreciate you stopping by, cheers!
Great Video Rus👍🏾
Glad you enjoyed it
Been waiting for this vid 😋 👍
I appreciate you watching it!
I donated to Ric via his Go Fund Me. Ric is good people. The ribs looked very good. Cool pit. I emailed Chris from LSG but he has not responded as of yet.
Thank you! I know Ric appreciates your generosity.
The plug is to connect a fan to the firebox
The port on the side is for an air controller as I discussed on my review video on this pit, the one coming from the bottom is not.
Those were some thick ribs!

I can’t tell any difference other than I’m picking up the flavor from the fat hitting the fire which is a good thing.

Does it have offset flavor? I find this grill to be one of the most intriguing... Can't wait to see a brisket.
Yes, great real wood smoke flavor
Noice ribs looks amazing
Thank you, I appreciate you watching!
Have you dont brisket yet, im sold if they turn out phenomenal?
No but I'm sure I will at some point. I alternate between all of my pits when making videos, but it come.
👍🤠
It’s been a while since we have done ribs. If y’all noticed, my mower was parked and that noise you heard was his fan!
Good try dear! I caught you on video 🤨😂
How you been Rus ?
Been good, thanks for stopping by
👍👍😃🍺🍺🐖

To the cancer issue, if that guy would drink water with a mix a sodium bicarbonate, it would kill that cancer 👀 of course with a low sugar diet
Check out Ron’s Seasoning out of Hattiesburg, MS love their base seasoning good on everything
