Pretty much every Scottish person will have a memory away camping next to a river with a wee fire going having a drink with friends. Never knew you weren’t allowed to wild camp in England makes me appreciate it more. Every time we get good weather people always head out with a tent
Wild camping is generally legal in Scotland but in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park there is a local byelaw banning it in some areas (camping management zones) from 1st March to 30th September each year - you have to be in a campsite or camping permit area in these bits of the park. Worth mentioning if anyone wants to come and not risk being moved on/fined.
@@fredcalvert7368 yes I think so, and you can camp in the management zones too, you just need to check where exactly it's allowed and get a permit from the website
What an incredible content creator. The quality is exceptional. The best compliment I can give is the subject matter would normally be of no interest to me, yet I am watching back through every video on the channel and I love it 😊
Agreed, he takes the most difficult road for a content creator which is he focuses on the landscape which is what the viewers really want to see rather than satisfying his own ego and droning on inanely about nothing. He lets the pictures do the talking.
What a timing of the video, we're singing the song "Loch Lomond" in choir currently. Your videos capture the atmosphere on the hikes so well, really enjoy them!
Great trail, nice infos, beautiful scenery a good dinner and a cozy camp, that's the mix for a perfect adventure. Another wonderful outdoor experience Liam. Always great vibes in your videos 👏
Another great video Liam. well done. Love your travels we have been watching them. Working our way through lol. Great production i love how you keep moving the looking in angle when at your tent doing stuff. It takes a lot of effort. See you again soon Michael nottingham 👍
Just got back from 10 days camping in Scotland, we do it as a group every year. What a place! especially when you get good weather 😂 it's a horrible feeling coming back to the flatlands of norfolk.
Another great video bring back nice memories when I was able to go hiking and wild camping bad hips and knees take their toll. Thankyou Liam for bringing the great outdoors to those who can't do it anymore
Nice to see you out enjoying Conic Hill dude, the views from the top are brilliant. It's a real uplifting moment when doing the West Highland Way seeing Loch Lomond in all it's glory. I'm blessed to be pretty local and to enjoy it through all the seasons. Keep up the great content 🤙
Liam, thanks for this video! Always so relaxing to watch your videos, feel like I am living vicariously through you and it's so much fun! Scenery was stunning! keep up the awesome work. 🤗

You picked a great spot their Liam, by that river.. think I’d of pitched up there too! You can’t beat Scotland, one of only two places in the UK that you can legally pitch up a tent almost anywhere you please, the other being Dartmoor.. in fact, even our very own Lake District you can as well - as long as your up on the Fells, and that’s exactly where I’ll heading next, for my next 3-4 night adventure!..😎 Are you at the Galloway Forest next?? Be great if you are, as I’m planning another multi-night trip up to there in September. Apparently it’s officially certified as one of the most darkest places in the UK with the least amount of light pollution, so will be an amazing place for stargazing! 🏕✨
The most beautiful bit on the WHW along Loch Lomond is really after passing through Balmaha and around Rowardennan. The spot you picked has fantastic views, but the way farther north has beautiful forests and many nice spots by the loch. I have camped overnight on that hill as well, though, along time ago (2006) :)
I was up conic hill just a couple of days ago and it was roasting! Will need to try and get to this spot to get some shots of the river! If you love shortbread, I recommend Crystal's shortbread - it's the absolute best. You're best having a sauce with haggis, and mashing the neeps if you can! I'm actually glad you didn't camp along the loch - there's camping byelaws in effect along the eastern shore of the Loch throughout summer so you either need a permit or to stay at a designated campsite.
You might think of crossing over to Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and continuing your ramblings. Lots of beautiful scenery and friendly people over there. I think you would enjoy it.
Aye when i went up Ben Lomond and Ben Nevis last week. I bumped into loads of Canadians and Americans. Really friendly but I just think it's mad that they travel that far for our hikes and landscape when they have the Rockies. Bless them hahaha
Firstly Liam I love the content you make! I’ve been struggling with depression for the last few years and Im considering doing the hadrian wall route for a mental break any advice?
the advice I can give you is just this my friend. DO IT AND DONT LOOK BACK, I'm not suffering depression but I have very bad health anxiety which I take medication for. just do it pal and breathe that air and take in the sights. its well known that the outdoors and good scenery is great for treating depression and anxiety. The hardest part is getting out of bed man, been there and it's terrible. how did your depression come about if you don't mind me asking? and what medication do you take, if any. chin up mate you'll get through.
Have a look at my channel, wild camping and cold water therapy for mental health, just done a video of a outside cold water shower in a wheeli bin, great laugh good for the mind, all the very best😀👍
Go for it! Buy the trail guide book as it'll have loads of info. I'm doing Offa's Dyke in sections and enjoying it, though staying in B and B as I'm not brave enough to wild camp it 😊 best of luck. Gwen
If you took all the suggestions in the comments, you'd need a ten ton truck to reach your wild camping destination! Your essence is keeping it simple, so the orange plastic cap spoon was ideal! From what I've heard of haggis here is Africa, I'd avoid it, I think. Awesome video, bro!
Being half Scottish haggis, neeps & tatties was a regular meal in our house. I've never seen anyone enjoy it so much as you in this video lol. Fab video, btw 🙂
I agree with Liam on midges in Scotland. I went for a walk from Inverness to John O'Groats a couple of weeks ago, and in some sections, midges were crazy. They just do not let you do your work in peace. No amount of Jungle Formula helped. I could have carried a similar midges net that Liam has.
Great stuff Liam. Huge fan. Moved to Portsmouth (part of the South Downs) when I was 19, now 40. Always loved to visit the Highlands. Did the West Highland Way as a teen. Best week of my life. Lake District is beautiful. You gotta love the Cotswolds and Cornwall. We're spoilt really. Just wish I had more time to enjoy our beautiful country 😄 Something for the future.
Love your content Liam!! Would be very interested in a gear review after you've done the 15 parks, did everything hold up to your expectations? What would you recommend/ditch? Keep it up!
Hi Liam, think you're more or less camped on the same spot of grass that I did in June 2019 when on my Lands End to John O Groats. Back end of Conic Hill. Was hoping to make it to Balmaha but the weather that day was not good so I too found a little oasis by that stream. Looking forward to seeing what's coming after the national parks.
Such relaxing vids! I’d love to go wild camping in Taransay in outer Hebrides, the beach looks unreal 😍 had no idea wild camping in Scotland was legal until I started watching your vids!
Hope you got your camping license mate 😏😆😆 Beautiful part of the world. It’s a tricky one… calm and sunny then the midges are relentless, cloudy and windy you get a little respite 🤪
Finally able to start catching up with your escapades. Our US east coast road trip is almost at an end and it has been awesome, and our hundred quid tent stood up well. Didn’t wild camp unfortunately, partly as the other half won’t do that, but also because there are some scary animals here! I’m starting to fancy a walking trip back home later in the year though.
Yeye finaly in Scotland! Hope you come to Pentlands soon? I will join you if yes lol Also hope you make a longer trekking video of some kind of proper walk like you did some time ago! Have fun.

It’s great to see what you have achieved for yourself since studying with you college and the adventures your are taking.

Funnily enough wild camping in Scotland is only illegal in the lock lomond and the trossacks national park. More so than wild camping in England.

You need to get a license to camp in the Trossachs from April to October.
