But it was divided into many regions. Bengal was one of them. So, Bengal was always independent like bihar and urissha back then. Even when Shiraj ud doula became the ruler of Bengal, Bihar and Urissha; all of them were independent but under one flag.

@@logansambross6103 Do not want to argue but accept the truth.And the truth is bengal is divided,and Bangladesh emerged from east bengal,while west bengal,tripura is still in india.Also india was unified by different empires like maurya dynasty,vardhan dynasty,Gupta dynasty and also during Alauddin khilji and Aurangzeb Rule.The only time bengal was independent was during bengal sultanate and also during nawab of Bengal.Bengal was part of ancient India but as a janapada named vanga.Also,if india was not a nation or state so does bengal.Ancient bengal was just isolated in south bengal.Many parts like rangpur division,srihatta was part of kamarupa,while Chittagong was part of Arakan.Also even in ancient times,india was composed of janapada and Mahajanapada,unified by cultures,tradition and a strong leader.Unlike yours,india is again reunified by sardar Vallabhbhai Patel when he rejoined 565 kingdoms into 28 states.we are a union of states,with official language,common culture and pride for our nation.

We called them tribe (upojati) because of their tribal lifestyles and natures, not for being a sect/part of Bengal or Mongolian race or nation.
And, in Arakan, there were 149 tribes including with rohingya before 1947 (according to the survey of British-India empire).
And, each of them are separate nations by having of distinct differences of language, cultures, dress etc. in amongst them. (They are like Afghan tribes of Mughal, pathan etc. living together in Afghanistan).
So, the Arakan state’s (and this Chittagong hilly areas) population structures are not same with other countries like as France, England, even mainland of Bangladesh etc, (such as traditional basis of population structure of what u can see everywhere in the earth now).
And, one more thing, most of the nation in the earth have come from mixing races.
For example, English nation- Anglo-Saxon, like Bengalis- Dravidian-Caucasian.
