I’ve commented on your $5 meal videos before but idk 🤷🏾♀️ if you saw it. You have been a blessing to me for buying food within my budget and making food that is delicious 😋. Thank you so much and please keep the $5 meal videos going.👏🏾
Your kids are so precious. I am so proud of you & them. I love how they are so grateful. They have manners. We need more people like your family in this world
Love these recipes. (one thing we do with the cornbread is to put the cast iron skillet in the oven while it preheats- then pour the batter into the hot skillet- it makes a nice crust) Thanks!
What I really love about you is when you give your followers these suggestions ,because I live alone and each meal I could get 2 great servings put one in the freezer and weekly I have 5 frozen meals not to be eaten the following week but to stock up on freezer meals with in the end of the .month I have a variety of mixed delicious meals thanks for sharing May every day be your blessings earned by thinking of others only we feel Great when we have a good heart ❤️💜❤️❤️❤️
You are just the true definition of a kitchen witch. No offense here. It means you can do anything in the kitchen and it turns out marvelous. I'm just reeling over the Velveeta cheese and cream of mushroom. Never in a million years would I have come up with such a beautiful concoction. Definitely made my day. Thank you !
I'm a single Mom and I have been STRUGGLING with feeding my daughter things she'll like and won't cost an arm and a leg. Your videos have been beyond a blessing. We're not eating the same old thing all the time and I cant believe how much we've saved! Thank you so much for your videos!
My FAVORITE meal of all time! Soup beans, cornbread, fried taters and Macaroni n tomatoes 😋I LOVE LOVE LOVE all your videos! Family of 5 here, no assistance, yes I go to food banks, get commodities when i can and the rest i have to carefully budget. You have great ideas on cheap meals, so thank you! Things aren't as bad for us as they used to be but we've been there plenty of times and NEVER want to go through that again.
It's always a good day when you upload! A random spring onion, a deep freeze crock pot, the boys loving the food and a couple of 'it's fine' thrown in for good measure - love it! x
I am sending these recipes to my daughter who is a great at home Mom and she loves to cook for my Grandson but she gets overwhelmed with budget and what he likes. Those pizza rolls are a go too❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ham & beans, fried potatoes, and cornbread are considered one of the best meals we can have in our house. I often add sliced onion to the potatoes when frying them. I sometimes add barley to the beans when I cook them. My husband grew up eating this meal about once a week. I grew up eating bean soup. Thank you for the meal ideas.
One of my true soul food meals is beans and cornbread with fresh onion sliced on the side and a dollop of mayonnaise in my beans(learned from daddy)!!yum
You are so creative with a budget! I love it❤ My mom was like that. I am trying to be a better budget cook. We don’t eat pork for religious reasons but I feel like any of your recipes would be fine with chicken. Our grocery store has great sales with different chicken parts each week so I just use whatever is on sale.
Thank you for the love you put in every video, Brooke! So many people are being helped everyday. And the food looks delicious. God bless you and the Southerland squad always! xoxo
Brook I am having this summer about 15 people over for a barbecue (On the Cheap). could you do a video about that lol be a great time to use your new outside furniture lol
Broccoli chicken rice casserole: can use instead rice & equal water or precooked rice. 1 can of chicken or whatever leftover chicken you have. I can of cream of chicken soup, can of water, bag of frozen broccoli, chopped or florets, velveeta cheese & couple teaspoons of butter. Mix all together & bake. My kids loved this, sometimes didn’t even want it baked. Another tip for your crockpot beans or baked beans, add about a tablespoon of dry mustard or save the little pks of Chinese hot mustard packs, this adds a nice little kick to the sweetness. Yummm.
Due to health reasons I rarely fry anything. I microwave potatoes for 6-8 minutes , brush oil on them then roast them in the oven while the corn bread is baking. I do plan to try the bean product you show as it seems like it will be a flavor change for us. Thanks for your videos they are fun to watch. LOVE SEEING YOUR BOYS.
According to Hurst instructions you're supposed to add the seasoning packet in the last couple of minutes of cooking. I always did it while cooking, too, when I first started buying it, but it actually does taste better to add it at the end.
The deep freezer...😂I love you so much. You just leave all the real life in your videos. Sorry you weren't feeling well. But, you sure can't tell it. Still your joyful self.
And again the recipes look great! Thank you so much. I wash my taters after I peel and cut up too! I love fried potatoes with beans and cornbread. I'm gonna have to get some of those beans though. ❤❤❤😊😊
I'm a brand new subscriber. I absolutely love your channel and have been binge watching your videos. Thank you for your great meal ideas. Keep up them coming! God bless you and your beautiful family.❤
These look delicious. I'll definitely have to try these. My budget is tight this week and i think all my kids will like all of these especially the pasta
Brooke You do such a good job putting these videos together with low budget tasty meals. I have made a number of your crock pot creations with thumbs up from my picky husband. Hope you feel better soon.
I do my pepperoni rolls with pilsbury crescent rolls, cut into rectangles , rolled and pinched closed. I also use a little shake of italian spice. Kids love them! Your channel is awesome!!!😊
I've got too try those beans!!! I don't eat pork but I've seen vegan ham flavor for the soup. I use beef bacon for the cowboy beans. I'd love too see you do a series on just beans. I need more bean ideas!!! Love you and the family.
I make the quesadilla version of the pizza roll ups. The only difference is I take a can of tomato sauce and add Italian seasoning as a dip. I enjoy watching your videos for new ideas.
I love watching your videos. I learn something new in each one. But I really like is how much you seem to care about other people. God bless you and your family.
I have everything I need in my fridge for meal #2 using the last of a rotisserie chicken (instead of sausage). I’m using my chicken bones for a broth for another day. Anyway meal number two for dinner tonight. Yummy!
Thank you Brooke for truly giving us actual five dollar dinners you gave us regular priced items some others have given us items that most of us do not have access to the prices that they paid and the five dollar dinners were actually more like seven and weren’t as tasty as yours looked I absolutely love you and your family keep on keeping on
I love all your recipes. I do prefer made from scratch, but not everyone knows how to make everything from scratch, so no big loss. After all, I just make my own from scratch for ex, cream of chicken or mushroom soups instead of the can. But hey, I do keep canned versions in my pantry to make it easy for my husband when I am sick, so I am not die hard against them. You definitely give a great baseline, thank you.
You know how expensive it is to eat out on a date night? How about a $10 date night? 😀 I’m sure it’s been done, but I’d like to see Brooke’s version. I bet it would be great.
I really appreciate these videos! Not only for the price point, but also to remind me that I simple meals are delicious. I really enjoy cooking but I don’t always have the time or energy. Not only that, but these are great meals for kids who just moved out on their own. You and your family always make me smile, have a blessed day!
I just discovered your channel a few nights ago, and I'm loving it!! I'm in Chattanooga, so I have Publix, Aldi, and Food City. I try and take a minute to look at all of the weekly ads, see what I already have in my kitchen, and plan from there. Publix is pricey, but they have great BOGOs. In most states you can purchase only 1 BOGO item, and then it's only half price. When they's a Publix brand item, sometimes you can get a great quality item for super cheap!
Hey neighbor, I'm sure what part of Chattanooga you live in, but the is United Grocery outlet on Highway 58 that you can find some good deals at. Just watch your dates on some of the "fresh" items.
Hi Brooke , Dusty , and boys Once again Brooke , you brought amazing recipes with ingredients that's delicious. I love the idea of the actual 5 dollar dinners . You continuely bring such fantastic deals on prices for different foods . You need to publish a book because I know you would be a best seller . Thank you Brooke , for all your help and hard work putting these videos together for us. Sending lots and love of hugs , love , blessings and countless prayers for y'all ❤️🙏
I just found your channel and thank you so much for your videos! Meat can get expensive and it's good to see cheaper ways to make food. Your flower print kitchen items are the cutest! I'm trying the beans. I never tried that brand.
This was probably one of my favorite videos of yours that you have given us. I have a good friend who I think will enjoy the beans recipe. I think I will make it for him in the next couple of days, maybe over the weekend. Thanks again for your super genius! Love from Idaho. Wynn
Super new to this channel, but what great ideas for cooking on a budget. And I have to say, your taste testers are adorable! Definitely need to try some of these dinners.
Thank you for sharing the Cajun pasta recipe. It reminds me of a dish from a Cajun restaurant in Memphis. I saw this recipe and then place all the ingredients in my Walmart cart immediately so I can make this very soon.
Hi Brooke , Dusty and boys I absolutely love these 5 dollars meals and wonderful meals for the money gonna make me a grocery list and get these ingredients and have some good eating yummy for the tummy 😋 Thank you Brooke , for all your hard work and research putting together these ingredients and recipes for us . Keep the videos coming love them all. Sending lots of love and prayers 🙏❤
Beans- we don’t use meat, salt or oils/butter ect for health reasons but still turns out great! Same for potatoes. (Incase anyone needs to do the same and wondering if possible 😊)
Thanks for sharing some quick easy cheap meals. People don't need to spend a ton of money on groceries to have a good meal. I buy certain things if on sale and stock up if you can do it. The second meal I'm definitely trying
Save the peals from your potatoes in the freezer, when you all want a snack or as a side dish just throw them on a baking sheet with oil, seasoning of choice & bake.
My grocery stores are the same. We do not have Engles. I do not like coupons, many times it costs more. I like your menu being based on what you+ actually are buying. I never add salt. Jiffy cake mix and corn muffin mix plus a bag of carrots and 5lb of potatoes is still important.
I have a special request. I was wondering, you did a while video awile back where you made a big pot of chili and then used it in different ways for different meals for the week, I was wondering if you can do that for black beans. I have a lot of black beans and potatoes too if you can for one week. Thanks for these awesome videos!!
If you preheat that iron skillet until the cornbread batter sizzles when you pour it in it will rise more and have such a nice crust on it when it's done! You've made me hungry! This looks and sounds deeeelicious!
Braden is my spirit animal...every tater is a good tater! It's how I live my life 🤣
I keep telling folks it can be done with or without coupons - clearance items , sales are how I strrrrrrettttcccchhhhh my buck
I’ve commented on your $5 meal videos before but idk 🤷🏾♀️ if you saw it. You have been a blessing to me for buying food within my budget and making food that is delicious 😋. Thank you so much and please keep the $5 meal videos going.👏🏾

I'm just reeling over the Velveeta cheese and cream of mushroom. Never in a million years would I have come up with such a beautiful concoction. Definitely made my day. Thank you !
Thank you! I’ll take that compliment lol you’d never think that velvetta and cream of mushroom would be good, but by golly it sure is!
My dad used to put cream of mushroom on our Mac and cheese when I was a kid. It was our “poor man’s meal” and it was amazing
I'm a single Mom and I have been STRUGGLING with feeding my daughter things she'll like and won't cost an arm and a leg. Your videos have been beyond a blessing. We're not eating the same old thing all the time and I cant believe how much we've saved! Thank you so much for your videos!
The ham flavoring for the beans are best when you put it in the last 15 minutes your beans cook. It doesn’t get cooked away that way.

I love that Brayden said Tater.
I am sending these recipes to my daughter who is a great at home Mom and she loves to cook for my Grandson but she gets overwhelmed with budget and what he likes. Those pizza rolls are a go too❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I don't like mushrooms, so I always use cream of celery soup instead of cream of mushroom soup. Those potatoes sure looked yummy.
That's a boy after my own heart "every potato's a good potato" ❤
You are fortunate that your children love beans
Beans can be your best friend when being frugal!
Thank you for the ideas!
Thank you for the meal ideas.
wooooo barley pearls is a great idea!
I love my fried potatoes
One of my true soul food meals is beans and cornbread with fresh onion sliced on the side and a dollop of mayonnaise in my beans(learned from daddy)!!yum
This reminds me of my childhood when these meals were more like $2 dollars im old lol keep doing this u rock
I went into Walmart over the weekend and for 18 count eggs was $1.93. 😳 I almost fell through the concrete floor lol
IKR!? At my Walmart, the box of 5 dozen eggs was $6.02! I almost fainted! 3 or so weeks ago they were about $18 for the box.
You are so creative with a budget! I love it❤ My mom was like that. I am trying to be a better budget cook. I was always told not to put salt in beans until they have been soaked and then cooked. Once they are cooked add the salt and seasoning.
I love how your kids eat everything you make! I love ham and beans!
The ham bean dinner looks good!! I’m homebound handicapped in a wheelchair and enjoy watching these videos. I feel like you really care
“Every tater is a good tater” are wise words. 😂 Thank you for sharing!
Love the simple and cheap recipes. And I really love your cheese grater.
Bean and fried taters are one of my favorite dinners. Add a little bit of picante on the beans and you are golden.
❤ now I am hungry for ham beans.
Due to health reasons I rarely fry anything. I microwave potatoes for 6-8 minutes , brush oil on them then roast them in the oven while the corn bread is baking. My parents jused to make cowboy dinner, but with sausage and beans😊I still make it sometimes😊
Beans- we don’t use meat, salt or oils/butter ect for health reasons but still turns out great! Same for potatoes. (Incase anyone needs to do the same and wondering if possible 😊)
everything looked so yummy...ty for the video xoxo
Thank you so much for these recipes....we are working hard on becoming debt free and these will be a blessing
Thanks for sharing some quick easy cheap meals. People don't need to spend a ton of money on groceries to have a good meal. I buy certain things if on sale and stock up if you can do it. The second meal I'm definitely trying
Lima beans and ground beef would be a great addition to the cowboy beans.
Your boys have awesome personalities
I would make everyone of those recipes. I made my family some chicken taquitos in the oven last week and I served them with salsa and queso
I will also use smoked ham hocks or smoke neck bones. In our beans with the seasoning
Save the peals from your potatoes in the freezer, when you all want a snack or as a side dish just throw them on a baking sheet with oil, seasoning of choice & bake.
I love the Hurst Hamm Beans! My absolute favorite!!!
Thanks again for these budget friendly delicious meals. God bless!!
Love watching your videos and your kiddos are so awesome! Thanks for all the time and effort you put in to these videos! YOU ARE APPRECIATED!!!
My grocery stores are the same. We do not have Engles. I do not like coupons, many times it costs more. I like your menu being based on what you+ actually are buying. I never add salt. Herbs and olive oil. I use bay leaves. I can afford to buy all the groceries I want, however, when I was 15 I began cooking for my family on a very limited budget. I can feed a family of three using 1lb of hamburger and one chicken a week. Fifty five years + later those habits are still with me.
Great ideas! Thanks for sharing!
I agree every tater is a good tater!
If you preheat that iron skillet until the cornbread batter sizzles when you pour it in it will rise more and have such a nice crust on it when it's done! You've made me hungry! This looks and sounds deeeelicious!
That’s how I make my cornbread in a piping hot cast iron skillet where it sizzles and starts cooking before I put it in the oven
I usually do, but I was impatient this day 😂
Love all your videos Brooke, you're a big help to someone on a budget
