I literally do all these steps every single day. So when i started watching this video I really got excited. I have been doing this since November and unfortunately only 4 sales, but sooooooooooo many views. I would love to see how you do Multiple shirts, like family shirts or couple shirts, I am having such a hard time understanding this. Thank you for your channel i watch something from you everyday and now i watch No friend left behind channel as soon as one gets posted. You guys are great!!! OH bye the way i'm here in Florida too!! Great place huh!!
Hey there DermCarecorner! You are in my neck of the woods! Beach weather is upon us! I am so glad you are enjoying both the channels and I cannot wait to hear about you getting consistent sales in your shop! Be sure to keep me posted!
I somehow missed this video a few months ago. It is excellent and will help with organization and direction. Timing is everything. I just posted in the Teacher niche about a month ago and made my first sale a couple of days ago. I am encouraged to continue with this niche. Also, thank you for making the Teacher Resource Guide, I purchased it earlier and already see some extremely valuable info. Had I seen this video 5 months ago when it first posted, it would not have impacted me as much. Again, timing. Thank you, Shawna. I really appreciate the information and encouragement.
@@shawnalynn2083 Sooo I got my first sale a lot sooner than expected, but it was from someone I met 15 years ago. I'll update when I get a sale from someone I don't know 😅. But YAAAY! I'm going to check out more of your videos. Thanks again! I really appreciate the time you give to this page for those of us who aren't in a position to afford a coach (YET). 💜
@@shawnalynn2083 I’ve been live for 3 days and got my first two sales! I’m working out an issue with shipping labels (Etsy charged client for shipping and created a label instead of allowing me to use the fee to pay my POD), but otherwise I’m excited! 😆
Shawna every time I watch one of your videos all I think is I wish I lived closer to you and that we were friends so you could show me how to leave my teaching job and do Etsy full-time LOL I too am a general store where I'm focusing on several nieces, but the constant feedback I get is that I need to niche down because I only have five or six of one type of niche in my store.... I've already paid to RUclips gurus to tell me that and it's the same thing that they preach on their channel where I'm looking for feedback for what I'm trying to do and I feel like you would get that
Hey there Robyn! I would totally stick with the general store if I were you but you still could and should niche down within the niches you are working in. Just choose a few niches that have good search volume and that you are either getting traction in your shop (views or sales) or niches that you just personally love! Find all the little rocks to turn over within them and list there consistently over time! For example... with the teacher niche I make teacher shirts, seasonal designs, specific grade level and even other designs like cafeteria or administrators. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much Shawna. This is really helpful. I'll definitely implement the 6 things from now on. I feel like I found the lighthouse in the sea. Congratulations on your big success in Etsy! ❤
As always--you are such a good teacher!! Loss for schools but gain for us! 😆 Love your videos on research and design especially. Would you consider doing a more "dumbed down" video on keyword and title research? I couldn't quite follow the last one with all the colors, etc.
Thank you Shawna! I learn a lot from your videos. It would be great to see your workflow, from design to listing it on Etsy. I just learned how to do a listing for multiple products and spent hours just with one. I wonder if there’s a smarter way.
Great idea! And I honestly don't put many listings together with multiple products... accept various shirt sizes... like kids through adults. I save time by only syncing them if they start to sale! I hope that makes at least a little sense!
I really love this gals' videos. Her energy is inspiring and contagious. But I'll make a general comment as I'm watching. As a newbie trying to fill out my store and gain any traction at all, I am being pulled in every direction. Eventually I would love to have multiple types of products - phone cases, wall art, pillows, whatever. Not sure yet. I have an arts background, so I am trying to focus on more artistic and creative products rather than say, funny t-shirts for nurses. But anyway, with all these videos I am pulled in a hundred different directions on how to be proceed and be productive. It can lead to paralysis, which I think is common. Not sure how to overcome that.
Go where the data tells you. What is consistently selling? Pick 1-2 related products and 3-5 related niches. Be specific, not just funny nurses. Something with less competition
Thank you so much Shawna, for all the valuable info. I love your videos and also, Tucker lol! I have started a course, I’m working on Etsy after work too. Shattered!! But I know it’s worth it!! ❤ thank you!
So so valuable!!! Love your ideas and your teaching, Shawna! I’ve learned so much thanks to you. ❤ Is there a video where you talk about how to look at our stats on Etsy? I’m still very unclear about what numbers to look at as a new POD seller. Thanks!
Great! Thank you so much! Looking forward to it. Also, since a lot of us are beginners, could you please make a video and explain for POD sellers logistics such as what to do when a customer marks a purchase as gift? Should we use the new economy shipping in our shops? Does it save the seller shipping cost or is this saving to be passed on to the customers? Will slow shipping have negative effect on conversion rate? Thank you so much!
Shawna you always have great information that we can apply to make our shop better. I sometimes feel so overwhelmed because I still haven’t gotten any traction. I almost want to ditch my niche down store and go for a general store and see how that works with one product. How many products in one niche would you recommend adding for the algorithm to notice that new niche? Thanks 😊
Hey there! I would totally just try adding some more niches to your shop to see if you can grab some traction somewhere else... I would probably keep adding to which ever niche you have been working on too. I would suggest at least 50 designs before you say you gave it a real try... but the truth is if you really want that niche and you know it is profitable... you do as many as it takes to get on the map! That is what I did with the teacher niche... took me more than 50 but I make so much money there now and it was so worth it! I hope this helps!
With Christmas design season almost upon us, how do we know what trends and elements to incorporate into our designs so far in advance? in other words , what is popular now worth putting in designs for 6-8 months away?... Thank you for sharing all of your helpful knowledge- much appreciated!
Could you do a video on pricing our products. The profit margin on t-shirts is so low. I do use the everbee calculator and try to be competitive. Results are underwhelming.
Do you have a video on writing great descriptions? Do you recommend writing a fresh one for each listing, or do you have a template that you use? I feel like it would be easiest to just have a copy and paste template that you just change the specifics. I heard that Etsy doesn't really focus on the description, but Google reads the whole thing.
Hi Shawna! I have a question about expired items. Do you let your seasonal items that sell, expire? Or should you always keep items that sell "active" even if they are seasonal? Hope that makes sense. Thank you!
Hey there! I personally keep them active! If you let them expire be sure you renew them in plenty of time. I would want them back out there 3 or 4 months before to make sure they get a good chance! And I would renew my Christmas stuff by July!
Hi! I watch your channel with a notepad. Question if you don't mind? If we have a design we can scale, such as "Born in 1990, Born in 1991 etc) should we make these their own listings? Or one customizable listing? I've been doing multiple listings of things like these for one, my listings are spread out in searches due to SEOs, and two, I feel like people partially look for certain things very specifically. If I were looking for a "98 tee shirt I think I might scroll right past one that says "91. I hear people don't always read the titles therefore missing the word "personalized" This is a lot of work though but if it'll be worth it in the long run I am more than willing. Sorry this is so long. Have a wonderful day ❤️
Hey there! I have struggled with this too! So I like to scale it out and change the SEO and the main mock up image. However.... I have a drop down menu with the ones I predict will be the most popular and a custom option too... I would try maybe 5 to 7 years in your example that would be likely to be the most popular and if one of my designs gets traction I might double back and do some additional years for that design. I hope this helps!
Hey Shawna thanks for such information. Need your guidance if i open a shop with 2-3 products , can i go for multiple niches or on one particular niches?
Hey there! Thanks so much for watching! You can totally do that! Just a quick word of caution... I stuck with one product because adding more products overwhelmed me. Hundreds of designs and listings later I started adding others. Whatever you choose to do don't get overwhelmed! WE are in this for the long haul! Keep me posted on your progress!
