Fulmin Prime is the nostalgia pick. The big changes from this weapon are the Quality of Life changes, rather than the damage bumps. They are present, but do not significantly alter the performance of this weapon. Shotgun mode remains extremely useful, albeit less unique-sounding, with infinite body punchthrough similar to the Plasmor family, with 1x headshot multipliers as well. It also retains multiplicative GunCO, while also having better falloff, magazine size, 10% higher damage, and faster ammo regen/less battery delay. All-in-all, making Fulmin Prime feel a lot better to use.
The auto mode is functional, but due to slot limitations, only a Corrosive Hunter Munitions build really makes sense, albeit Viral is possible with Nourish. I would only advise messing around with Auto mode on base Steel Path, whereas shotgun mode can scale much higher into endurance.

It's just a fun weapon. Loved it since I first used it. Even better the MIGHTY SEER makes it super strong

I think Corrosive with the new Cold proc is significantly stronger than expected. Idk what you think but I was actually impressed by the raw damage.

it's also a decent primary for the Index and my favorite for the nightwave challenge kill a Tusk Thumper. go Radiation and Cold and never worry about ammo :)

Fulmin Prime is almost shockingly mediocre. Compared with the original, the important stats were either unchanged or only marginally buffed.
And most frustratingly, if you spent the 6+ forma to make the original good, its back to square one. Time to drop another 5+ forma on mastery fodder.
It is LONG past overdue that DE normalizes the effort it takes to maximize weapons. With Gunsen Prime I popped in a Catalyst, and I had enough capacity with ZERO forma that the build was done. Having most primary/secondary weapons need 5-8 forma to get a sense of whether the weapon is competitive is just insane.
No. You get double change speed. Fulmin original change so slow in comparison. 2s for 80 vs 3s for 60.
The downtime is very detrimental in so many situation when you are waiting for dmg to come back...
This alone is 2x the killing speed, alone with the given buffs.
Fulmin is already strong, the important stats are not those in the light, but the battery. The battery downtime is always the pain points of fulmin, if you are not a seasoned fulmin player, it is very uncomfortable to play with, able to shoot 8 shots with 2.7s downtime is huge for fulmin, rather than the previous 6 shots with a whopping 4s downtime.
But true though, need many formas to make most primary and secondary weapon shine, it eats through your formas like nothing.
I just like melees, you pop catalyst, throw in mods, and the weapon already dealing good dmg to have a clear clue.
