    8:30 A tip with regards to the trains when going back to Nice from Monaco. Jump on the train going to Ventimiglia - meaning the train from Nice - and then jump of at the next station after Monaco. There you jump on the train to Nice.
    That way you get on the train to Nice before everyone else gets on in Monaco and will probaby get a seat. :)

    I found the best way to see the Monaco Grand Prix 2023 was on a "Specialty Cruise, Windstar's Prix du Monde" or Monaco Grand Prix Cruise. Barcelona to Rome with Sat and Sunday tickets to the Race. Section K stands near tabac corner across from super yachts. After getting off the Tender boats to the dock, We had guides to take us to and from our seats to navigate through the very crowded streets to the section we had. We also had nightly talks by celebrity guest and long time American F-1 announcer and commentator " Bob Varsha" who in his retirement is doing this. He sat in the stands with us as well. Lots of gifts as well , binoculars, earplugs , ear noise headsets, seat cushions, carry bag, and lots of small gifts. They gave us bag lunches to take both days as well. The whole 7 day cruise was far less that most Hotels in Monaco that weekend and you got to go to other ports of call and have gourmet food for the week. 😁

    • @CongTran-nx8bg
      @CongTran-nx8bg 5 месяцев назад

      @@MichaelPottsF1 The rain was just at the end of the race and was not that bad, (from this spectators point of view) . No umbrellas, just shorts and light clothes. The cars slowed quite a bit obviously. The cruise lines that do the Monaco Grand Prix are "Windstar Cruises" and "Azamara" and there were others Anchored off shore as well. The only thing to note is that during the race weekend alot of tourist attractions are closed like the Prince's Automobile collection and the Prince's Palace and its really crowded. Cheers.

      @@MichaelPottsF1 Yes, I don’t really follow F1 but went with a couple friends that do. The atmosphere at the race was really something - everyone friendly, so many team shirts in the crowd. Opposite my seating area were lines of yachts watching the track from the water. The immediate area outside the race is absolutely packed with fans before and after the race; I didn’t hang around for after parties and such, trains were reasonable. The race itself was quite fun, with big screens to watch the action when it isn’t in front of you.

    9:25 Uber aren't allowed to pick up people in Monaco, but they can drop of people in Monaco. Meaning you can get from places in France to Monaco. But if you want to get back, you have to go over the border.
    Most convenient place in central MC is going over the border just north of the park opposite of the Casino.

    I wanted to ask for your advice I found tickets for grandstand P & L that are valued at the same price €325. If you had to choose one of those two grandstands in terms of view of the city as well as the race, which of the two would you recommend? It’s for the Monaco qualification 2024

    • @MichaelPottsF1
      @MichaelPottsF1  4 месяца назад +1

      I would go for L. It’s a bit of a tighter position, and probably more of a rear view of the cars but more impressive as you are closer. P will give you a wider view. If your seats are high up in the stand you will see a lot more of the track and the city, possibly even the pits.

      @@MichaelPottsF1 @MichaelPottsF1 thanks a lot for your reply. I appreciate it. Ah man you've made my choice even more difficult now 🤣 because both sound awesome. L sounds awesome for experiencing the cars so close. P sounds awesome for getting the view of the track & the whole city. Difficult choices. I'll think about my final choice tonight & buy one if the two because honestly they both look amazing in terms of view. Maybe I'll go Thursday & buy P to get the city view since tickets for the Thursday are cheap & then for qualification I'll buy the L grandstand ticket. I decided to skip race day because tbh the ticket prices for race day are ridiculously expensive now. Plus I've heard Monaco is all about qualification (or maybe I just want to make myself feel good about missing out on race day 😂)

    • @MichaelPottsF1
      @MichaelPottsF1  8 месяцев назад

      Tricky - K you can have some great views if you get a seat next to Tabac, but if you are in the middle, you don't see much. P is a bit far away and I don't think you have a great view of the track. T would probably be my choice, If you get a seat high enough up I think you will be able to see pit stops.

    Monaco is my least favorite race. But I suppose that's from a TV viewer’s point of view. It's fun when you're part of it on location.
    Like you said, the cars are just too big for this place. Qualifying is the highlight of the weekend for me. The race can be interesting through strategy. The only reason they still race there, is because of the history.
    At least this race can still be somewhat affordable, if you’re willing to travel. Even the grandstands are reasonably priced. Can’t say the same for Las Vegas next year.

    • @MichaelPottsF1
      @MichaelPottsF1  Год назад

      It's not a great TV race - I think that is why there is such a disparity in reactions, everyone at the track is seduced by the glamour and everyone at home sees it for what it is.
      Qually is always good though.
      I am terrified by the costs in Las Vegas - F1 needs to balance things a bit better and have a new venue where it will not bankrupt you to attend.

    • @LELIE-
      @LELIE- Год назад

      @@MichaelPottsF1 - I would be interested in a video about how it all works for photographers. Things like:
      - Booking places to stay (is there a priority system, or do you have to arrange for everything yourself?)
      - Media accreditations (what are some of the requirements?)
      - How do you guys get around the track once you're there? (Walking? Or is there a transport system around the track?)
      - Maybe something about the costs, since some places might be too expensive for freelance photographers.
      So I guess a video about the logistics of going to these races, from your perspective.

    • @MichaelPottsF1
      @MichaelPottsF1  Год назад

      That is a good one - I'll put one together, maybe between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. But just on a high level, some venues have media hotels (usually the fly away races) - but I don't think they are discounted and they can be a bit rough. The accreditation is complex, you need to be part of a publication that is accredited.
      The tranditional tracks have busses (most) that take you around, otherwise we have to walk. Most city circuits don't have space for transportation, so you do need to walk there. It's good, it keeps us fit.
      The costs are quite something - I've got a spreedsheet and this time of year it is very red as there have been a lot of costs and I haven't had a chance to bring in revenue yet. I've booked about 75% of the accommodation I need and some flights.
