      @@TheNightlessFall When the Airborne Regiment was disbanded the members went back to their respective Regiments - RCR, PPCLI, R 22nd R (Vandoos) - which formed their own jump companies. The Airborne Regiment may be gone, but Canada still has paratroopers.

      @@Wicked_Knight Oh yes, denial. America's war on terrorism was one big breaking of the Geneva conference. Let's not forget the Vietnam war, the Korean war, the occupation of the Philippines. The war the Brits had with the Indians to leave the Commonwealth one big breaking of the Geneva conference. Just because you have the memory of a guppy and you're so selective on what you remember and what you don't doesn't mean the rest of us are. At least Canada and Poland have own what they've done. They've gotten better, not perfect. No one is. But it's foolish to think that Americans or some sort of saints in the world.

      @@Wicked_Knight Also, quite recently you had a trial because an entire group of Navy seals admit it to the fact that they nursed to death by doing unnecessary, inappropriate and medically unfit procedures on a handcuffed 16-year-old boy. Who maybe was or wasn't an isis fighter. And when other people tried to bring them up on a criminal war offense, you all screamed about millennials. That happened when Trump was in charge. It's like you don't even know your own history.

    Im from Poland and I have never heard anyone using "Geneva checklist" term, but a lot of military people here are using therm "Ottawa sugestion" so there is something like that ;)

      ​@@SBel65 oh yes we did...it was not especially popular or successful..but it was done,in both world wars...they called conscripts zombies in ww2...as they didn't choose to fight and were not "motivated" in the same way the volunteers were...the way things are going for the caf these days- I'm honestly surprised no one has brought up compulsory service as a way out of the manpower crisis...

      ​@BlackEpyon thanks for reminding me, it's always a fun day when I get to recall, that not only were the canadians one of the 1st to experience gas attacks in ww1, but by the end of it, they used more than anybody else, with one artillery officer at one point stating, "we would have gassed the whole country if we could have"

      As a Canadian... not only do we learn about our warcrimes... but we build museums to them... so future generations can see something to aspire to :)
      I am proud of our reputation and traditions in war. As equally proud of them as I am proud of our reputation in peace.
      we use some variation of a saying to describe it
      "In Peace, We're Sorry. In War, You're Sorry."

      You'll have to do the research to get all the info. The short version is Canada did so much killing in WWI that the Geneva convention had to be created*. Throwing tins of food over to the Germans, then following up with grenades.
      Weirdly it's not something I remember learning about in school.
      *it's sort of a joke sort of not.
      For the polish I have no idea.

    Any Geneva Convention talk only reminds me of how the U.S. Army only phased out flamethrowers as recent as 1978 and the GC only outlawed them in 1980.

    As a Canadian I find this utterly hilarious and yes I know what my country did in WW1 and it’s still funny.
    What’s also funny is that my 87yrs old gramma refuses to believe Canada had that reputation in ww1 she’s convinced this didn’t happen as she was never taught about it in school. She’s convinced Canadas been nothing but Peace keepers through everything. lol

      I also had a maternal great uncle who fought in the Korean War and spent some time in Japan on one side and on the other side, step family, I have a great grandfather who was a part of the Dutch underground and smuggled my gramma and aunts and uncle out of Holland to Canada where they all found each other again after the wars.

    Well, given our national sport at times includes players whose only purpose is to break the rules by viciously thumping on members of the other team (aka 'tough guy', 'thug', 'Dave Brown'...).
    Meanwhile the other guys only do that some of the time (and refraining from doing so is rare enough there's a trophy for it - but it's called the "Lady Byng" and I think some guys found the idea of winning it potentially emasculating).
    And now Canadian women have made clear they're quite willing to play hockey to the max as well...
    I'm not sure the evidence against the stereotype portrayed in this video would hold up in any court...
    Or psychological evaluation.
