    ► DRINK CONTAINERS: amzn.to/2sIC47G
    ► NUTRIBULLET BLENDER: amzn.to/2sp0B46
    GENERAL BOBA PROCEDURE:
Fill a large pot halfway with water and bring to a boil. If desired, add ~10 drops liquid sweetener to infuse some sweetness. (I like to use stevia or monk fruit drops.)
Add uncooked boba tapioca pearls to boiling water. Lightly stir unto boba begin to float, then cover and boil for 3 minutes.
Remove pot from heat and carefully drain boba pearls. Transfer to a bowl and cover with water until ready to use. (Otherwise they’ll stick together!)

Thanks so much for this episode, I love love looove bubble tea and avoiding the tapioca pearls means you're not making proper bubble tea! But I know people sometimes use basil seeds/"mini pearls" (which are very similar to chia seeds) instead, it's what my sister has with hers! So you could use chia seeds as a healthier(?) replacement in case you want a fun texture!

I've made my own boba pearls and it came out really good! I used tapioca flour/starch and kneaded it like regular dough, made small balls, and then boiled them. Didn't add any sugar as I was just testing it to see if it'd actually work, and it did! You can definitely boil the pearls in some sweetener or add sugar to the flour--whatever works for you.

I also think it's definitely about flavor choice! I tried a green tea one once and it truly was disgusting and bitter, I've since learned that black milk tea with lavender or rose flavoring is my preferred way- or a mango black tea with jelly instead of boba (or both).
It's definitely not for everyone, but especially if you chose a flavor outside your usual flavor preferences, I'd really encourage you trying it again!

For boba alternatives, I recommend nata de coco and grass jelly. Both are vegan and can be found at Asian supermarkets/online.

I can't tell you how happy I was to see the boba tea video, I love the tea but the normal stuff is so bad for you so this video really helps. I would love to see a second boba video somewhere along the line.

@@YeetusTheFetus it's been in canada for decades lol, probably because of our asian population. i'd like to work in some of the places around here, because, unlike many places in the US, the pearls are fresh and they're free of chemicals - US ones that i have had all tasted like the seven-eleven ones that flopped, except those ones were packed with lots of flavour.

This sounds great! Especially the mango tea. I've only had a boba drink once and I loved it, but sadly usually whenever I have too much sugar in drinks (like tea or hot cocoa) I get a stomach ache, so hopefully these recipes can allow me to have a tasty with less of a risk of feeling sick :)

I think you can use the edible orbeez things from frozen yogurt shops as a substitute or the pearls. They are made with a clear seaweed gelly outer coating and filled with juices. They taste amazing and I'm sure they work just as well.
