As per my avatar, you can see we have 2. The one on the left is 1 year old, which we got to accompany the older one, 9yr old on the right. Bubba, the older one, was rescued. He has what we call, megaesophagus. He was originally from a puppy which we didn't know at the time. When we got him, he was only 25 pounds. We think he was crossed somewhere in his heritage, with an English bulldog due to his front stature. He now weighs a healthy 42 pounds, although he will die with that megaesophagus. We have to raise his food so it can fall in his stomach by gravity. For a full year when we got him, the only food he would keep down and not stop in his gullet, was pork loin. We'd get the big pork loin at Costco and I'd cook it on the BBQ in its own juices for Bubba. His job, when I went out to check on the meat, was to take sample cuts for quality control. I just had to ask who would like to sample the loin and he'd race to the back door. We since have switched albeit gradually, to damped kibbles. One thing that both were suffering and I have seen many in this video as well, is their stenotic nares. Lincoln's were so tight that there was barely 1mm gap in them. Bubba had them as well and both got the laser treatment. The difference was night and day in their breathing. In the summer, Bubba would pass out due to being unable to breath enough fresh air. After the operation, he was able to stay out, in the shade of course, and watch us while laying down. Same for Lincoln. He just had his done 3 weeks ago. For those who just want to get one cause they look nice, don't. Due to this cuteness, many puppy mills are pumping them like hot cakes and don't care about the genetic defects they have. If you wanna see what taking care of a dag that has many defects, search for the French Bulldog Rescue network. 90% or more of them, have some kind of condition. Cruel selfish people just send them there cause they don't want to deal the very high bills for their upkeep once they are sick. And trust me, they get weird shit going. Bubba's megaesophagus is now moving to his private businesses area. Due to his condition, vets have found that the cause of incontinence in dogs, frequently are linked to megaesophagus. So our poor Bubba walks around in a diaper around the house to catch any accidents. Sadly I don't blame him, nope. I do blame the unscrupulous puppy mills who want more $$$ regardless of the harm they create. As for those who do have one, I do hope you are not parading your dog while their nares aren't fixed. When I see someone out there with any type of brachycephalic animals, and the nares or any fixable defects aren't done, they will get a tongue lashing from me. They are nice pets but put their health ahead of your needs. Remember, they are here for a short time so let them have a good time. If you can't provide the care they need, due to human race wanting a toy dog, then walk away. I have the time and $$$ to support mine. The young one came from a good breeder. She's the Dr Doolittle of the real life.
I own one and he is worth every Penny. He is 20 months so far no ear no eye and no skin issues. He does struggle with the humidity but we have central air and we do what we need to do. If you had a child with any special need you would learn to adapt and so do we. Jaxon Ezekiel he is a lilac and tan he’s my rock!

@@kbg4life07that's false, I have been breeding for the past 9 years and have full breed French Bulldogs. My dogs are AKC registered and DNA tested and have had litters of 9 a few times.
@@mattdog1188 that's rare, specially for a female since the breed standard is small. My frenchie is only 16 pounds and daughter of the National Champion (AKC registered too). Never bred her, but I doubt she would have had more than two puppies. Her mother only had two. Sadly, papers don't mean much as they are very easily falsified. Too many backyard breeders too, "rare" colors are not rare..they are banned due to the very high number of defects in these genes, very sad. So big frenchies and fad colors are now a rampant problem.
OhciniAdorabulls I’m not about to argue with you but just to put it simply, your dogs are not purebreds. The colors alone let you know that they have been crossbred. Yes your dogs are akc registered, but you Can Not show your dogs in any legitimate pointed AKC shows. More than likely theirs some kind of bully in their lineage. Paper hanging will always be a thing so you have to really educate yourself on the breed.
For our Frenchie we knew we had to look for a more moderate dog and fortunately, we seem to have succeeded. He's not flat-faced, he has a small snout and his nares have opened more as he has matured, certainly not as cobby as they tend to be and he even has a normal tail. Having said that, he still has too short of a muzzle and we are careful about it since he does over-heat faster.
A well made and informative video. I own two French Bulldogs and I hate when I end up watching stuff like this. While all this stuff is true, and even when I look at my dogs today its hard not to be like "wow you two are like, totally not evolutionary sound and all your features were created in a lab." But regardless of any of those facts the dogs were created, we found them, we loved them, and every morning and night they bring so much happiness to our lives that I couldn't begin to describe on a RUclips comment. I have been around many dog breeds, and a French Bulldog has some pretty unique loving attributes I have yet to find in other dogs. However I do wish it was more responsible to own, purchase, and breed them.
There's a group called love and second chances and they rescue puppy mill puppies and frenches are part of it and i'm waiting til i have the funds to take home one of these babies and show it the love it deserves
If you want to buy a dog, good for you. Save up and buy your desired breed from a reputable breeder and don't try to Lowball that breeder because they are doing things the right way ...hence why they charge that amount for the puppy. Also if you are a person that says "adopt don't shop" or "my favorite breed is rescue" but only have space or a home for a purebred dog than you're no different than someone that purchases their pet.
As a fremchie and a bully owner i will say they are worth every penny!!! Frechies have an awesome personality, and how can we not love that face and ears!
Mine cost 4,500. He is a blue puppy omg he is so worth it! I have saved for years! Now he has a German Shepherd brother full breed and a jack Russell mix bro. Love them to pieces. My kids love them dearly.
I honestly think these dogs ain't worth a lot cuz they used to be cheap at 1 point in life early 2000s.....now celebrity start grabbing them and putting them on TV ....now everyone wants one these are bandwagon dogs with a lot of health problems
I’m a vet student and I want people to know that owning a French bulldog and paying breeders to continue breeding is incredibly unethical and cruel to these animals. French bulldogs have a tremendous amount of serious health problems and limitations making the quality of their lives very poor even under the best care. These dogs suffer daily, DO NOT BUY A FRENCH BULLDOG.
they can mate naturally although it is rarer, It definitely is possible. source... Ive owned a male and female that were intended to be bred together. and she had two pregnancies that were done naturally.
Thank you for addressing these important issues! Because ultimately, the dogs are the ones that suffer! I believe that breeders should do what they can to breed Frenchies that are NOT so flat-faced, first of all! And whatever else they can do to breed them so that they have less health problems. P.S. In addition to the high price tag on the specialized colors you mentioned, those colors are not recognized by the AKC! That means you pay an exhorbitant amont of money for a dog that cant even be registered!
i have 2 frenchies and honestly they were worth all the medical and initial cost. if you are thinking about getting a french bulldog make sure to keep a couple of allergy tablets because mine are allergic to basically everything lol but other than that they are very lovable dogs and bring so much happiness and joy to families

I have a Frenchie and when I got her from my family that breeds them they had 9 puppies the most puppies I have ever seen only one died from a sickness and the rest were perfectly healthy
Not true, I'm a english bulldog/french bulldog breeder. They are so expensive because of all the time and care that goes into them. You have to do everything yourself since the mom does nothing for them. You have to wake up every hour to feed the puppies 24/7. They also have to go to the vet for check ups and vaccines and it gets pricey. Medicine also gets pricey. Once the puppies switch to actual kibbles food can get pricey too. Stud fees are 3k+. They cannot have the puppies naturally so they have to have a sea section and that cost 1k+. People will never understand what goes into these dogs.
Emma Corstange do not get a frenchie from a shelter. they could come with so many problems and they could die easily bc they don’t take enough care of them like breeders do. if you want a frenchie you get one from a PROFESSIONAL breeder.
some of the things in this video are a little to much your making people feel the pressure not to get one. i have a frenchie and i love her to death they are so sweet and love able they things that might go wrong with a frenchie are with it. i’m lucky with my frenchie she doesn’t have any problems and she’s completely heathy but it’s worth it, we’re even planning on getting another one ❤️
yeah I wanted one until I watched this and realized that they literally can’t reproduce as a species without artificial insemination, on top of already knowing that their existence is pain for them, now I just don’t respect people who breed or buy em whatsoever
Hayden Cline you should look that up some more, not sure if this video is very accurate. If you want a frenchie but dont like their breathing problems just buy a chihuahua mix for a longer nose. Thats what I did.
They are expensive because idiots pay that price. Stop paying and watch the price come down. I would much rather adopt a kennel dog, (rescuing is marketing) than pay 10k for a puppy.
I just got a French bulldog but I do miss my cats. I hear you got mine for free including my Frenchie and every dollar I spent on them for up keep was and is worth it.
I have two and I love them the reason why they are so much is cause most of the time the mother has to get a c-section and that cost a lot they are really good dogs but they need lots of attention I love em !!!!
My girl just had 3 pups today 2 platinum boys and a lilac and tan girl. I just wanted my girl to have a litter as she was constantly having false pregnancies so I'll probably make sure they get a good home probably give them to family members
Supply and demand... simple. I can guarantee you the moment that society loses interest in the breed, prices will be reduced dramatically because they’re not in demand💯🔥🔥🤷🏽♂️
We love our 9 year old Frenchie! She is the best family dog weve ever had! but as much as we love her, we would not get another one. We just cannot in conscience have another dog that has so many difficulties that cause them so much discomfort.
For some reason the Merle’s are more than 10k!? They’re in great demand now, you know, new trend just for their marking’s. 😲🤔 My great-grandpuppies, were sold (not from me) for 12 - 15k!!! Crazy! I could purchase a good used car, or add it for a down payment on another house instead. Js
Has anyone questioned the ethical issues of breeding these dogs? To purposely breed a dog that can’t breathe properly or have pups naturally seems very cruel to me.
My baby girl bull puppy) is ready for her new home......She is Akc registered, and vet checked.. I am giving her out because I left from texas and my wife still leaves there, my baby girl Tina is from a family of 4 unfortunately their mother died, and right now the work is just so much for me talk more of their feeding... I just don't want things get to a level that will affect their well been that's why I chose to look for a loving and caring home for her. Thank you
People do t under stand the care that goes into prep - Expensive good quality food - housing - entertainment. To keep the dog happy and in shape- stud fee - c section and whelper- no sleep for 3 weeks - plasma - shots - health clearance- DNA testing - just to name a few - last week some smack asked me do you have a dog for 1k - I told him to fuck off and go to the SPCA
It's true, especially if the mom isn't receptive to the puppies and you have to tube feed them formula every 3 hours for the first 3 weeks, no one knows the time involved.
I will tell you why they are expensive. It is simply because they are trendy but the truth is the breed has chronic respiratory problems, their lifespan is relatively short (8 to 12 years old on average) and the fact that in the last 30 years or so, veterinarians have convince dog owners of their necessity thus creating a market that didn’t exist before. There’s a whole stinking business out there of Deluxe Pocket dogs such as Schnauzer , French Bulldog, Poodles, Shi Tzu and others.
Those big adorable heads have to be birthed via c-section hence the price! Blessings to those who can afford to drop that kind of loot on those babies! 🥰
I recently adopted a 9 yr old Frenchie female from a local humane society. She had not been well cared for and used as a breeder. I wasn't aware of how needy my little Sally would be. I can't say this would be true for all Frenchies, but I literally cannot take 2 steps without her being right there by my side. ........ Just food for thought.
@@doorknobsdoorknobs675 I paid $1100 and feel it is very reasonable for the work that goes into these pure breeds. I know some people that pay 3-4 times even 10 times that amount.

I love French bulldogs😍I have one and she is so cute!
Though they are expensive, at least they don't cost as much as the rarest dog breeds such as the Tibetan Mastiff or the Barkless dog.
I own one and he is worth every Penny. He is 20 months so far no ear no eye and no skin issues. He does struggle with the humidity but we have central air and we do what we need to do. If you had a child with any special need you would learn to adapt and so do we. Jaxon Ezekiel he is a lilac and tan he’s my rock!
i owen a frenchie great breed, i feel that breeders if didnt
breed for showing could breed for health could fix breeding problems,i owen a pug too.I also feel adoption is good to to help unwanted dogs, where im from to many restrictions to get one from pounds.
Video: French bulldogs should only have 1-3 puppies
My dog’s mom: * has 9 puppies *
Probably isn’t full blooded. A solid pedigree will only get you 5 to 6 at the most. A female should only weigh 16-24 lbs.
@@kbg4life07that's false, I have been breeding for the past 9 years and have full breed French Bulldogs. My dogs are AKC registered and DNA tested and have had litters of 9 a few times.
Sophia the first can I have a boy🥺 i have a she French/English bully
Owning a Frenchie is good, though I feel bad for the others, I love mine and my dogs, happy about it!
Same
There's a group called love and second chances and they rescue puppy mill puppies and frenches are part of it and i'm waiting til i have the funds to take home one of these babies and show it the love it deserves
Where's the location?
you think ppl spend thousands to abuse a dog?
Where is this rescue?
I have one I love him
If you want to buy a dog, good for you.
Dont worry babe, its just temporary.
@@davidamajako961 huh
Says the breeder......
As a fremchie and a bully owner i will say they are worth every penny!!!
Frechies have an awesome personality, and how can we not love that face and ears!
Some of the saddest most heartbreaking shit I’ve seen.
Paid $6000 for my blue French bulldog and I don’t regret it at all. My puppy brings me so much joy . They are great companions ❤️
@Thiago DeJuan please tell me your located in Texas? Lol
@@abejr2513 We are selling 3 of our puppies for half the price. Please email us if you’re searching for a fur baby:
What’s your address or where you located ?
My Merle was 5400
@@mrcory1999 what an your location brother? Just curious
Welp, time to start saving
@Eva Vega Oh my.
Our rescue one eyed bulldog is an amazing pet ❤️
Thank you for addressing these important issues! Because ultimately, the dogs are the ones that suffer! I believe that breeders should do what they can to breed Frenchies that are NOT so flat-faced, first of all! And whatever else they can do to breed them so that they have less health problems. P.S. In addition to the high price tag on the specialized colors you mentioned, those colors are not recognized by the AKC! That means you pay an exhorbitant amont of money for a dog that cant even be registered!
Where can I find one without the flatnose
Got my Frenchie for freeeeee! Also coconut oil in thier folds and inner eye cantha ensures they don't get yeast or redness
i have 2 frenchies and honestly they were worth all the medical and initial cost. if you are thinking about getting a french bulldog make sure to keep a couple of allergy tablets because mine are allergic to basically everything lol but other than that they are very lovable dogs and bring so much happiness and joy to families
I brought a French bulldog, dog was awesome! Got him from a reputable breeder, unfortunately I had to put him down after 3 years, after almost 20k worth of vet bills, I couldn’t let him live like that rip to my boy, vet recommended not to get this breed due to a lot of health issues and extremely expensive… 😢
I have a Frenchie and when I got her from my family that breeds them they had 9 puppies the most puppies I have ever seen only one died from a sickness and the rest were perfectly healthy
Whenever a breed of dog becomes the "new" thing they tend to go up in price...
In my country the normal price is between 400-500 $ from a certified breeder...and 200-300$ from non-certefied ones .
Dominican Republic 🇩🇴?!??
Someone forgot how to english when writing the title.
I have 2 french bulldogs. They´re beautiful
I thought I wanted a French bulldog lol nevermind
The Pansexual Pisces Same here.
Why not just get one from a shelter
Lol I have one! We called him Louis because it’s a french name lol
Emma Corstange do not get a frenchie from a shelter. they could come with so many problems and they could die easily bc they don’t take enough care of them like breeders do. if you want a frenchie you get one from a PROFESSIONAL breeder.
I know a guy that sales them not that expensive
i want a french bulldog there so expensive but so cute
some of the things in this video are a little to much your making people feel the pressure not to get one. i have a frenchie and i love her to death they are so sweet and love able they things that might go wrong with a frenchie are with it. i’m lucky with my frenchie she doesn’t have any problems and she’s completely heathy but it’s worth it, we’re even planning on getting another one ❤️

In my country I paid $400 and another $400 for first year food and vet bills.
Mine was 3,500 $ totally worth it!!! Best dog ever!
Mine too. Best investment ever
But what about vet fees I thought they had a lot of health problems so isn't that an extra cost?
yeah I wanted one until I watched this and realized that they literally can’t reproduce as a species without artificial insemination, on top of already knowing that their existence is pain for them, now I just don’t respect people who breed or buy em whatsoever
Hayden Cline you should look that up some more, not sure if this video is very accurate. If you want a frenchie but dont like their breathing problems just buy a chihuahua mix for a longer nose. Thats what I did.
Prolly gonna be more with all there health problems
They are expensive because idiots pay that price. Stop paying and watch the price come down. I would much rather adopt a kennel dog, (rescuing is marketing) than pay 10k for a puppy.
I got 2 frenchie paid $6400 for both. no regrets. Highly medical bill but well worth it. My babies love them till death
I payed 1600 for a blue Frenchie
I paid 1500 for my female and 1000 for my male !!!
I picked up two rescue cats for $50. Best $50 I ever spent!
I just got a French bulldog but I do miss my cats. I hear you got mine for free including my Frenchie and every dollar I spent on them for up keep was and is worth it.
They are so expensive because there are so cute
Literally just got a Frenchie and literally has scabbys
I have two and I love them the reason why they are so much is cause most of the time the mother has to get a c-section and that cost a lot they are really good dogs but they need lots of attention I love em !!!!
Excellent video! Very informative. Thank you!
I’m getting a French bull dogs from my aunt for free so take that breeders
Where did your aunt brought it tho? 😕
No shit lol that’s basic economics
I still want one tho :(
That’s so sad. They’re a beautiful animal and bred to not breathe normally and easily.
Js
Correct me if I'm wrong but I belive there are too many "are"s in the title.
Has anyone questioned the ethical issues of breeding these dogs? To purposely breed a dog that can’t breathe properly or have pups naturally seems very cruel to me.
You need to rewrite that video title
My baby girl bull puppy) is ready for her new home......She is Akc registered, and vet checked.. I am giving her out because I left from texas and my wife still leaves there, my baby girl Tina is from a family of 4 unfortunately their mother died, and right now the work is just so much for me talk more of their feeding... I just don't want things get to a level that will affect their well been that's why I chose to look for a loving and caring home for her. Thank you
"""why are French bulldogs are so expensive""" 🤣🤣
My parents have 3 frenchies and a St. Bernard 😃
Heck Yeah!
In my country regular price is around 400$ ..

My pugs nose comes out a little more then other pugs so he is quite healthy. He looks more like the old world pug.
"but first" jesus christ we can never get a straight answer can we
I will tell you why they are expensive.
So we got A blue French bulldog and they are the sweetest most enjoyable dogs. They give you laughs everyday!

That Was a good Deal..😀😀😀

@@doorknobsdoorknobs675 I paid $1100 and feel it is very reasonable for the work that goes into these pure breeds. I know some people that pay 3-4 times even 10 times that amount.
I have tiny black Frenchie but I didn't buy her. She was a rescued dog, and yes I have spend a lot in medical bills but she is worth it.
I would always try to rehome before buying a dog ....I was really lucky to rehome my frenchie when he was two..hes in great health and his breathing is fine luckily 😉🐾

Helpful video. Thanks.
Now I understand why they are so expensive!
